We are four small families (11 in total) that have been together for decades, and we came to celebrate an anniversary. The place was perfect for us—a pool table to entertain teens, views to keep us happy while having a glass of rose on the patio, and enjoying all that Tamarindo has to offer. The owner’s team worked hard to make us happy, and we appreciated their help in reserving a catamaran sailing, a day at Langosta Beach club, and hiring a chef to cook dinner for the anniversary dinner. We walked all over, though we had cars with us. Perfect holiday!

Beautiful penthouse
We stayed here for our annual summer family vacation. Melissa/Frank made the checkin/checkout process very simple & quick. The penthouse is even more beautiful than the photos. The location is perfect & safe with a guard at the gate of the building 24/7. We rented golf carts through Melissa which made it nice to drive & park to dinners and trips to our excursions. The views from the many balcony’s are lovely especially during the sunrises and sunsets. We highly recommend this home. Melissa/Frank were extremely responsive.

Beautiful apartment with lots of room and amenities.
The Villa was as nice as the pictures showed. There were a number of minor maintenance items, but the overall experience was excellent. We would definitely rent this unit again.

Wanna be king for a day?
Grandparents, parents and grandkids rented the Penthouse, February 2022. The property is super special. From the grounds, to the pools, the outdoor kitchens everything is well designed and and appointed.
But wow oh wow, wait until you see the Penthouse. On top of the world, stunning sunsets, fancy and huge! You feel like a King in a castle. You have space for everyone in a first class environment. We could not have been happier.
In addition to a perfect property, working with concierge Melissa was top class. The service she offered, the vendors she works with really was the best. Our family tries to do an annual vacation together, we have been several different locations, I can honestly say we have never had such complete excellent service as we had for this years trip. Her service is a credit to Costa Rica hospitality. We hope to return.

Beautiful sunsets
Twelve of us stayed at the penthouse over New Years and had a wonderful time. The property was as described, lots of room for everyone and the pool table was a big hit. We loved watching the amazing sunsets and the howler monkeys in the morning. It’s a 10 min easy walk to the Beach Club and is a great area to have a drink and go to the beach. The New Years celebration didn’t disappoint- we safely watched the fire works from the property. We absolutely love Costa and can’t wait to come back.

Peninsula Resort Penthouse
The Peninsula Resort penthouse was elegant, spacious, and comfortable for all 12 of our family. We appreciated the attention and care from the owner Ed and his concierge, Melissa. We would not have had the amazing experience without their incredible coordinating efforts. Hopefully we can come back to revisit Playa Langosta soon.

We had a great time. 6 adults 6 kids from years 8-15. On site manager Melissa was always there ready to help. She was amazing. All people we interacted with was super. They arranged transportation to and from airport. Took care of all activities we wanted to do outside of property. Had access to Langosta beach club. All in all a great experience.

I looked for many hours to find exactly the right property for my family of 13 which included a 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7 year old. I needed a lot of space without any stairs. Our Penthouse was everything promised. Lots of room for everyone to enjoy one another and then to also get away from each other. Each bedroom had its own private bathroom. Lots of closet space in all the bedrooms. The kitchen was enormous and the refrigerator was big enough for taking care of all the food we purchased. We had spectacular views from all of the living and dining areas and enjoyed the outdoor space as well. The pool at the Peninsula was lovely. Veronica and Bob handled this booking and were beyond helpful before and during our stay. Veronica even babysat for 4 hours the first day for us. Melissa also helped book us on all our tours and all our transport needs. We had one minor issue with the fridge, and it was handled within 15 minutes of calling at 10:30 at night. Thank you Bob, Veronica and Melissa. We will remember our vacation for a long time to come. Fabulous.

Comfort and convenience, all in one!
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. We were a group of 13 ladies and had plenty of space to move around. The property is well maintained and up to date. The manager Rafa, was really pleasant and easy to work with. He answered all our questions, setup our excursions and made sure we were comfortable. The condo is about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the city center and a five minute walk to a convenience store. It’s easy to get a taxi or to rent a bike or golf cart. The beach is a 10 minute walk away, with a beautiful pool and bar at the Langosta Beach Club. This is more of a surfing beach, but also has beautiful sunsets with plenty of beach chairs to relax. This place really has a a lot to offer, a must stay

An awesome place for large groups!
The Langosta Penthouse was an awesome place to stay for our large party of 15. The positives - each bedroom had its own bathroom, large common areas for our large party to gather, a large kitchen, very attentive condo staff, and the complimentary admission to the Langosta Beach Club was a huge bonus with our stay. We can’t rave enough about the beach club - the pool and beach were clean and beautiful, the food/drinks were very tasty (though pricey), and the service at the beach house was top notch. That said, the negatives - Old pots/pans lacking Teflon made it very difficult to cook at the condo, the short dirt road to town was very annoying to say the least (Puravida will tell you that they have electric cars that you can rent, but beware, they’re actually golf carts. I’d highly recommend renting a car; we rented from the Liberia airport ($300 for an SUV for one week) and the drive to Tamarindo was very pleasant with well-paved roads). The condo provides 3 parking spaces in a secure garage, another bonus. Overall, we had a great stay and would highly recommend this property to others.

Great place for a large group
We were a group of 16 young professionals in our late 20s to 30s, and this was the perfect place for our large party! It is incredibly spacious with room for everyone. The VRBO host was incredibly accommodating and responsive. He was also to help coordinate a shuttle for us from Liberia airport, as well as set up a sailing and snorkeling tour for us at the last minute all via email. He was very responsive to issues or questions we had during our stay. Regarding the apartment itself, it is GORGEOUS and is just like the pictures. Our favorite part was the outside porch, which was great for group bonding and watching sunsets with a drink in our hand. Not only this, but you have unlimited access to the oceanfront beach club which we spent many of our days at because that segment of the beach was by far the least busy and most pretty! Only negative was that the WiFi was not very strong and was finicky at times (intermittently unable to connect to it). Otherwise, I highly highly recommend staying in this beautiful VRBO!

This place was perfect!!! The layout was great, location was off a little out of town but it worked great for our group. Everyone that assisted us from checking in to leaving was VERY accommodating. Every person in our party would suggest this place to others.

Exceptional!!
WOW!!! Can't say enough about this wonderful property , the management staff and the location. We came to Costa Rica for our first time to celebrate my twin sons 18th birthday and celebrate we did! This penthouse suite is exactly as it pictured. From the first moment when you walk in with the breeze blowing through the doors and windows and the spectacular views from every window you won't want to ever leave! The furniture is comfortable and cozy and the entire unit is exceptionally clean and polished. From your condo you are a quick golf cart ride or pleasant walk to either Langosta Beach or in to Tamarindo for beach fun, restaurants and shopping. We loved heading down to Langosta beach to surf and enjoy a sandwich at Mady's Deli. Stephano (our main contact) is an extraordinary concierge. He is professional, knowledgeable and above all a wonderful example of all that is great about Costa Rica's culture and motto Pura Vida! If you have any questions or need anything he is quick to respond and help you out so that you can experience all that the area has to offer. The Langosta Beach club which you have access to with this rental is a wonderful place to relax, settle in and just breath in the beautiful days and evenings and it to is only a short walk, bike ride or golf cart away. If you don't feel like walking the 15 or so minutes into or out of town the local phone you are provided with w/ Stephano's number , a shuttle service (taxi) and Tico to Go for ordering food delivered is a great little perk of this rental as well. There's really just not enough good things to say about this place!!! My family and I are already planning our next visit!!! Choose this rental and you won't be disappointed!

You will not go wrong with this one!!!
This is an amazing property. We were a group of 13 people, ranging fom ages 6 to 67 and it was great for everyone. We had a wonderful time during our family trip in Tamarindo. The condo is huge, each bedroom is very nice and spacious, with its own bathroom and television. The fifth bedroom (bunkbed room) is small and does not compare to the other four rooms, but it can work well for teenagers, it also has its own bathroom and television. There is plenty of space for everyone, the reason why I booked this condo is because we wanted a space that would give us plenty of room not to feel all over each other but at the same time it would let us spend time together.... it did not disappoint me, the condo was bigger than I expected, the pool table was a hit among our teenagers. The views from the jacuzzi is beautiful. And the kitchen.......wow, the ownwers really know how much space is needed to store food for the people who fit in the condo because the refrigerator is amazingly big. I have rented other properties before and we have foud ourselves strugling to cool drinks and refrigerate food for 13 people because of the regular size of refrigerators, so we were pleased and surprised with the huge refrigerator. The condo is beautifully decorated, the decoration is so unique that you really feel you are on vacation at the beach and not at a regular regular condo anywhere, we wont forget this place for sure. The building has a communal pool, I will say that Im not a fan of communal pools because I love privacy and cleanness, I often look for houses with their own private pool, having said that, the communal pool at the condo was incredible beautiful and very very big, it was also very clean and I found myself liking it very much, it was never crowded, many times we had it all for ourselves. The free entrance to the beach club was a plus, we used it every day. The staff were great from the very beginning which made everything so easy, the booking was fast and Bob will respond to every email fast, so communication flows very well. The concierge and cleaning ladies were also very helpful and nice. We had an unforgettable time at The penthouse and will recommend it to everyone, the condo has everything you need. we will rent this again whenever we go back to Tamarindo.

Long weekend getaway for my 30th!
I celebrated my 30th birthday by booking this condo with a group of 9 other girlfriends. After much deliberation about where to go, we landed on Costa Rica due largely in part to how amazing this property looked - and we were not disappointed!
We could not have been more blown away by the condo itself (we likened it to some of the crazy houses that are used for that stupid show on MTV "The Real World") but also the impeccable service it came with. The concierge team exceeded our expectations, going above and beyond to plan and execute on every minor detail of our trip. They were gracious, knowledgeable, easy to communicate with, responsive, and just truly nice people. The amenities that came with the condo were perfect, access to the beach club was an added bonus, and the location was either a walk or a $5 cab to anywhere we'd want to go.
I would certainly recommend that any groups looking for a spacious, impressive, luxury rental that's still affordable, check this place out!

This place is perfect!
We came here with our adult family (ages 5 - 57). We loved this place. There was plenty of room for everyone. The bedrooms were large with ensuite bathrooms. We spent a ton of time out on the deck just enjoying the beautiful weather. The guys spent a lot of time playing pool when we were hanging out at the penthouse as well so that was great entertainment. We had a couple of minor issues which can never be avoided with any property but when we contacted Stephano he dealt with everything right away. We also had the Chickas come and cook for us three times and that worked out very well. The only thing I would mention is the one bedroom with the single beds is fairly small and the top bunk isn't ideal for older teens however we ended up with just one person in that room and he had his own bathroom and everything which was great. I honestly have no complaints whatsoever about this property and wouldn't even hesitate to book from them again. In fact I look forward to it. If you are a large group this is the place for you!

What a great vacation!
From the very beginning Bob was helpful and timely. When we first inquired about the Penthouse Bob got back to us within 24 hours. He sent us suggestions for things to do the week that we were going to be visiting. We stayed there the week between Christmas and New Years and apparently that is the busiest week of the year. Bob suggested that we book any excursions early which we did. We arrived in Liberia at 7:30 am to a driver waiting for us to take all 11(4 parents and 7 kids ages 22 to 27) to Tamarindo. The Penthouse was not ready that early in the morning but we had full access to the Langosta Beach Club that we took full advantage of. We were in the Penthouse early afternoon and then Bob arranged for us to be taken to the grocery store to pick up items needed. The home came with a prepaid cell phone with Bob and Stefano's numbers already loaded. The house was amazing and easily slept all of us. There were TVs everywhere and the views were breath taking. We were within walking distance to the beach and town and felt very safe when the kids walked to the night life. We rented a golf cart for the week which was great. There is a little Fish, Wine and Cheese store next door to the Penthouse that had just opened. We shopped there 3 times and highly recommend it to anyone staying there. Loved the owner!
We took two excursions. The first was to Arenal Volcano. The drive was very long but the zip line was absolutely incredible. The guide shared so much history and information with us as we drove along to our excursion. We stopped at a wonderful little coffee plantation where we were able to buy coffee beans sold only in Costa Rica. We also were able to go to the Hot Springs which was beautiful and we totally enjoyed the water slides and water falls of hot water. Our second excursion was the sunset catamaran which was a blast! Both excursions picked us up outside the condo and delivered us back when we were finished.
When we ran out of propane for the BBQ a call was made to Bob who immediately had a new one delivered and installed for us.
The Penthouse was a little lacking in some items in the kitchen, but nothing that we would ever complain about and we did fine without. We left any left over seasonings to help the next family arriving.
New Year's evening we were treated to the most amazing fireworks display from our different porches.
Without a doubt this was one of the best vacations we have shared. We will be back!

This was my third time to Guanacaste, Costa Rica. During my first two vacations, I stayed at the Westin. This time, I stayed at this luxury penthouse. I have a winner and am sold. This penthouse experience was extraordinary. It’s simply impossible to get the full luxury and ambiance of this private penthouse. Wow! The penthouse is pristine.
With the penthouse comes a local cell phone with pre-programmed contacts for Bob and his team, who are available, pleasant, and responsive 24/7.
We were picked up at the Liberia airport - - had a thoroughly enjoyable partial-tour ride to Tamarindo, where we were met by Bob, the property-manager-extraordinaire. After touring the property (the ground floor security, the building’s pool, the vastness, modernity, and beauty of the penthouse we were ready to go grocery and wine shopping. Bob took us to the grocery store and escorted us with local tips while shopping. On the way back to the penthouse, Bob gave us a fantastic tour of Tamarindo, including recommendations for restaurants, hang outs, and activities, including pointing out the private beach club of which we were members for the week.
We arrived back to the penthouse in plenty of time for gourmet Chef Frank of bellyfedbetter.com to prepare the first of three dinners for the week - - and to catch the first of many breath taking sunsets from our private balcony facing west.
The Langosta Beach Club was fantastic with its infinity pool - - unparalleled, pleasant, personal service - - great cocktails, beer, champagne, and wine - - and activities, including first-time surfing lessons.
Bob also assisted us on two extraordinary days of sports fishing. One full day on the Talking Fish via Tamarindo Sports Fishing with a trophy sailfish, bonitas, snapper, and unbelievable grouper - - and a half day on the Gamefisher II via gamefisher2.com with rooster fish, mahi mahi, wahoo, and a trophy amberjack.
Thanks to Bob and his timely logistical arrangements, we were able to historically visit and see the Olive Ridley Sea Turtles laying their eggs at Playa Ostional. How lucky we were. it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this natural wonder of Costa Rica. Bob arranged ground transportation to and from the penthouse - - and covered with Chef Frank to move the timing of that night’s celebration dinner to a bit later.
Utterly fantastic. Brilliant. Beyond expectation. You will not be disappointed. ¡Pura Vida!

Magnificent
The owner is a character .. and a pleasure to deal with. He is a resident in Tamarindo with an easy laid back style. As soon as we arrived we wanted to stock the kitchen .. 'OK" he said 'lets go to the grocery store..". We were a party of 6 (with 3 more arriving during the week) and all climbed aboard his truck and headed out.. He accompanied us through the store giving helpful hints mixed with his blend of humor.
And so began our 10 day stay at the 'Penthouse', a truly tranquil location. From Howler monkeys on our street (they do not interact with people), to Marlin in the bay, the location and accommodation met every box we ticked.
We did not need a car (taxis are really cheap when we needed one) and the town center was a short walk. Safety was not a concern. The town still has a local feel with plenty of food/adventure options and a vibrant, un spoilt, character. Recommended? You bet!

Great Place to Stay!!!
We stayed at the property in early June 2015. Better than we imagined. We were 3 families, 13 people in total with 7 kids all under 13. The place was great. Plenty of room for everyone. Kids really enjoyed the outdoor pool and the pool table inside the condo. Amenities were great. Great kitchen with a huge dining room table that fit us all. Giant balcony with a great BBQ. Easy walk to the beach. Got to use the Beach club, which was fantastic. Bob and his staff were great. Extremely responsive when anything came up. Would highly recommend this place.

Everything you could want and more!
We had the pleasure of spending a week in the villa at the end of March. We were two families, with 6 kids ages 6 to 14. Unlike many other listings where they don't look like the pictures in the ad, this one was even more spectacular. The space is huge and immaculate. Bob and Sebastian did everything they could and then some to address anything you could possibly want, from planning day trips to arranging travel to making restaurant recommendations, they did it all. The location is perfect....a short walk from more restaurants and bars than you could ever go to. In addition the beach is literally across the street. One of the best bonuses of the trip was the membership that was included to the Langosta beach club. Between the pool, the restaurant/bar and access to the beach, this was the icing on the cake. I couldn't recommend this more highly and I encourage anyone thinking about renting to reach out to Bob and/or Sebastian to learn more. You will not be disappointed.

Absolutely Amazing
Property was Amazing. We had a group of 9 and the place had enough beds for everyone and some spare beds. It is better than what is pictured. Sebastian, the concierge, was extremely helpful and booked dinner reservations for us too and made great recommendations. He also booked us a private shuttle from the airport to the resort which was very helpful. I will definitely come back. Excellent Experience!!

Unforgettable Experience!
In line with the title of this review, the property was an unforgettable part of our week long stay in Costa Rica. I have travelled all over the world and whether you plan to travel the country or sit on the beach…… your house inevitably ends up being a large part of the trip. Without a doubt this property far exceeded my expectations. The house was lived up to every picture posted on this site and was extremely well kept. Most importantly the houses lived up to the 5,000 sq. ft. space expectations given we had a 12 person group. There were parts of the house we didn’t even use. The main terrace with views of the Pacific Ocean and more importantly the Pacific Ocean sun sets were worth the rental alone.
Outside of the property itself, the management group that welcomed our party was more than accommodating. They helped plan every activity while in Coast Rica including zip lining, white water rafting and rock climbing. They also were more than willing to help organize transportation to the local town (5 min drive or 10 minute walk) and recommended bars/restaurants. If you haven’t been to Costa Rica, the people and atmosphere are a welcomed relief specifically for our group living New York.
This property has everything needed for a relaxing and once in a lifetime experience on the beach in Costa Rica. I fully recommended you reach out to the management group if you have any doubts. I have zero regrets in the rental as a first time visitor to Costa Rica and using this site. Enjoy!

not what i expected
I am writing this review on feb 2nd; after 8 days at the penthouse. where do i start, i was the official checklist for this until. so many problems. I had 13 adults and 2 kids, this unit does not sleep 16 adults. there are 2 sets of bunkbeds; only big enough for kids or small people. the queen size beds are not USA queen, more like full size beds; beds mattresses are hard. after the first night the kitchen sink was backup, it was filled with black water the next day, we had to call for repair. The air conditioning units need to be replace. The unit over the bed in the master bedroom broke 2x while i was there and water drips down on your face. Those nights we slept with the doors open and ended up with mosquito bites. Bob the manager was unresponsive; i sent him tons of emails to him and sebastian and he said he did not get; i have them all in my sent box. When he finally sent someone to repair the unit it took 24hrs for someone to actually come. The driver who pickup my guest one night did not know where to go, we ended up walking at 11:30pm to meet the driver down the street. I spent hours talking to Bob about all the issues with the unit, no propane; i found this out after i had turned on the bbq, put my meat on, only to find out the propane tank was now empty, took meat off, cooked in house and not the vent over the stove did not work, we had to open all the windows to let the smoke out, handles falling off the doors, dingy towels, they are stained, only 2 wine glasses; 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom. the bar is empty, no glasses, ice machine did not work until we complained and then someone came to fix, no bar stools. one day we had potato peeler, they next day it was gone after housekeeping came. jacuzzi was too hot, they came and lower and then it was too cold, after 2 days they came back to raise the temperature, but raised it too high, we never used it, it was always full of mosquitos. Unit needs paint job, cracks all over the walls. Bob said there is now a new owner and that he cares about his house. He said things were not up-to-date because his wife has cancer. I will be talking with AMEX, pay pal and home away to get some kind of reimbursement. I do not believe all the reviews are honest. Luxury Living - Pura Vida
This property is exactly as advertised, large, clean, nicely decorated with a well appointed kitchen and lush linens. The beds are very comfortable. The chairs and sofas allow for socializing and relaxing in comfort as well. The pantry has a large shelf of soft beach towels, games, pool and beach toys. The place could easily accommodate the 16 they allow very comfortably. The wi-fi was very unreliable but it may have been due to the extremely high winds during our visit. Much of the time we had no access. We heard from several residents that they had never seen winds that strong. The power was out one day and to our wonderful surprise this unit has a generator to keep some lights and necessary things running-like the refrigerator.
Bob greeted us, showed us around the condo and got us settled in. We had a few maintenance issues and Bob took care of them within a few hours. (A/C unit leaking, one not working, sink running slow) It was very easy to work with Bob, Sebastian and Juan. I do recommend that you rent at least one phone from them for your stay. We had to rely on email or walking to their office (a ten minute walk across from the Beach Club) to contact them because there is not a working phone in the home. It would also have helped us to get taxis into town, make dinner reservations, etc. The guard at the gate was kind enough to call us a taxi, but the cell phone would have been a big plus.
We loved Tamarindo. It has a vibrant (by Costa Rican standards) nightlife with lots of dining, bars, and a casino. We did touring 4 of our 8 days. They are long days in the car but so worth the experiences. We took the Mega Combo, the Day trip to Nicaragua, a trip to the beach to see the turtle nesting areas, hiking in the rainforest and the Palo Verde Tour. All the tours were unique, fun and our entire group from ages 22 to 73 enjoyed them.
We also spent a few days at the beach club. It has lovely cabanas and a pool with poolside cocktails and dining. Due to wind, the pool was constantly full of debris but the staff was diligent in trying to keep up. With the beach just a few steps away and the availability of boogie boards, surf boards, paddle boards and kayaks we played in the ocean most of our time there. Also due to the high winds, the trees over the club were alive with howler monkeys. It was such a treat to watch them jump and play. The babies were so funny and kept us entertained.
