About this house rental
Choo Choo Mansion is our wonderful holiday let, with sea views, set in the heart of Dawlish town centre (with parking). Leave your cares, and your car, at home as we are situated less than a minutes walk from the train station of Dawlish, the sandy beach and the town centre. Perfect for families, friends or just a romantic get away! The town is packed with amusements, restaurants and little shops.
Soak up the true ambience of a seaside holiday in Dawlish. There is a sandy beach, perfect for sandcastles, crabbing and paddling with the little ones or long walks and watching the sun go down over the water for the romantics.
The town centre holds everything you need, from local supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, amusements and tasty cake shops to boutiques and luscious ice cream vendors.
Our holiday home is a grade 2 listed townhouse, with parking for 3 cars. As you walk in the property you are met with a large hallway, to the left is a spacious reception area with a corner sofa, a 50-inch free view TV, an open fireplace, and soft lighting, everything you need for cosy nights with family and friends. There is also a DVD player and a selection of films to keep you entertained in the evenings after a long day at the beach.
As you return to the hallway, turn left and you pass a convenient downstairs WC, walking on, on the left again, you reach the dining room. The dining room is furnished with a wooden dining table which seats up to 8 guests at any time, perfect for evening dining together.
Upon leaving the dining room turn left and you will enter our shabby chic kitchen area. The kitchen comprises of a large 8 ringed cooker and double oven, Smeg fridge freezer, washing machine, fully equipped with crockery, utensils, pots and pans as well as a coffee machine. The kitchen overlooks our walled garden, one step through the door and you enter our outside area furnished with a large table seating up to 8 guests. Our subtle outside lighting along the walls and on the parasol with help you relax over a meal or drinks al fresco.
Coming back to the hallway at the front of the house is the staircase leading up to five double bedrooms. Being an old house the staircase only has maybe 7 or 8 steps before each landing and a small turn up to the next section of the house, which is helpful for older guests. The first landing holds one spacious double bedroom, which overlooks the garden. Next to this is the main bathroom with a New copper bath, perfect for relaxing and washing the sand off at the end of the day and large separate shower enclosure.
Back into the hallway and a short flight again leads you to a large super king bedroom with sea views. This room also has a large TV for cosy films in bed.
Again up a short set of stairs takes you to two more double bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed overlooking the garden and the other a double.
Lastly, another short flight leads you up to our largest room with a super king bed and sea views. This bedroom also houses a large free view TV for relaxing in the evening. Next to this room is a second bathroom with WC, basin and a shower enclosure which is basically an ensuite to the bedroom.
There is also a double blow up bed for extra guests.
Please note, we do not accept Single Sex groups/Hen or Stag parties.
All parties need to be either over 25 (as an adult group) or family groups with children (children welcome)

All debris, rubbish and discards are placed in rubbish bin and soiled dishes are cleaned.
All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to departure.
No linens are lost or damaged
No early arrival or late departure.
The renter is not evicted by the owner (or representative of the owner) or the local law enforcement.
CANCELLATIONS BY GUESTS – No refund will be given under any circumstances.
The maximum number of guests is limited to 10 persons plus 2 children

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful property, the house is extremely spacious and has plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. Each room is very well decorated and furnished, and the train memorabilia throughout the house gives it so much character. Tony is an amazing host- very helpful, friendly and responsive, quickly answering any questions. The location of the house is perfect being in the heart of Dawlish, it was so nice being able to leave the car on the driveway and just walk round the corner to the shops, arcade, beach etc. The train station is practically on the doorstep if wanting to leave the car behind and visit other towns by train. We enjoyed having a stroll along the water in Dawlish looking at the black swans, and also a visit to Gays Creamery for some lovely pasties, cakes and ice cream! I would 100% recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in the area, it is perfect for friends and families especially if there’s quite a few people, the photos don't do the house justice as we were amazed at the space when we arrived. It's clear that so much time, thought and effort has been put in to the property, which makes it more special and personal. We will definitely be returning, and can't wait for our next visit.Thanks so much for a lovely stay!

We so enjoyed our stay at ChooChoo Mansion! We needed a large place to house our family while we came from the US to a family wedding. This house had plenty of room for our 10 adults to sleep and hang out comfortably and the location couldn't be better. Be sure to check out the black swans, the beach and the pub down the street if you visit!

Pros - Most of the rooms are a good size for a large group, well equipped kitchen and it’s in a great location.
Cons - there isn’t a garden - more of a courtyard that didn’t have enough chairs for everyone . The dining room table was only big enough for 8 to sit.
The dishwasher is in an outdoor shed - but there’s a washing machine in the kitchen!? Would make sense to swap them!?
There’s a lot of uneven floors and stairs which may be a problem for older people.

Great location to park car up and use the train which is just over road. You do not hear the trains. House is spacious ,comfortable with great decor. The hosts are easy and quick to correspond with.

A large group of us stayed at Choo Choo Mansions for a long weekend. We absolutely loved the attention to detail and care taken in furnishing and decorating the property. Tony was a wonderful host and was very responsive. The kitchen is well stocked and can conveniently support cooking for large families. The house is in a great location: near the beach and train station.

We stayed here as a family with the ages ranging from 22 to 74 for my 50th Birthday. Communication with Tony was exceptional and he responded quickly to any queries we had. We had booked a 5-night stay from Mon-Fri, but Tony very kindly offered us the house for 7 nights at no extra charge 🙂. The scones/Prosecco and milk were greatly appreciated … thank you! The location of the house is perfect. There are some shops/pubs within walking distance, but if you wanted to go further afield, the train station is right on your door step. although you are not disturbed by the noise. We didn’t move our cars all week and used the train to visit Exeter, Paignton, Torquay and Dawlish Warren. The house has everything you need, making it home from home. The beds are comfortable and I thought with it being an old house that it would be cold, but it was quite the opposite. We would definitely return if visiting the area again and would 100% recommend it.

Only put less on the accuracy as the little hut (presumably for kids) is no longer there which we didn’t know until we got there & couldnt find it. Also the beach view in the top room is only just. Apart from that, really nice location, huge house with great decoration. Bedrooms were amazing & bathroom really nice too. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Fab getaway
Wow Wow Wow
We stayed at Choo Choo for a family getaway in July and loved it. The children loved the shepherds hut so much we hardly saw them. The house was a dream with spacious quirky rooms and a fun kids bedroom. Everything was a minute away, the town centre, beach, pubs and restaurants. As the train station was next to us so we jumped on the train to explore the local area. Sitting in thee garden at night with a glass of wine with the family was a daily ritual. Thanks guys for the wine and great reception, we will be back again.
