Beautiful, remote rural setting, a peaceful retreat.

Lovely, pretty remote rural stay among rolling hills, orchards and dramatic open space. A very zen location, esp if you've got a couple of days to wind down. Kind and engaging hosts, well appointed room.

Keep in mind that this is a pretty remote location, approx 10k from the nearest town -- that's its attraction for many, but a limitation for some. Not surprisingly, cell service (and the corresonding wifi) is spotty at best. Self-serve breakfast is convenient, but hardly lavish.

Superb

Ivy and Dave were very helpful. The location is superb up in the country overlooking beautiful farmland with birdsong. The room was clean and comfortable and well cared for.

Good

Very comfortable bed, blackout curtains, heated bathroom floor, good hair dryer, quiet location, laundry facilities, fresh lettuce from the garden. -- Painfully slow and unreliable wifi (impossible to do any work or stream a movie); no table to eat breakfast at (I ate on the bed), the room can get very hot and stuffy on sunny days as the patio is not covered. All in all, I couldn't help but feel that the place was a bit overpriced.

The perfect getaway from the city!

How wonderful the hosts were and the spectacular views from our rooms. We were utterly astounded by how everything was just so new and clean. It was like staying at a brand new apartment!!! We got recommended to go to a local restaurant and the food was amazing. We have no green thumb but we appreciated the greenhouse and the fruit trees in the area and how well maintained it was. The hosts were so informative, we actually discovered 2 new local markets that we have never been to and it turned out to be better than the Matakana one!

A peaceful getaway in the back country

Beautiful dogs and scenry and amazingly quiet while still being a quick drive away from town (Mangawhai). This was definitely a value-for-money getaway.
