Tolle zentrale Lage im Fort. Das Frühstück ist sehr lecker und reichhaltig. Sehr nettes Personal, das einem hilft bei der weiteren Reiseplanung. Das Bad ist schön groß.
Wir hatten das Zimmer im Erdgeschoss (Nr 5) und es hatte stark nach Schimmel gerochen. Außerdem war es ziemlich klein und das Fenster geht auf den Innenhof, sodass man es nicht wirklich öffnen kann.

We had a fantastic stay at Arches Fort. The room was clean and the bed was big and comfortable. It was a perfect location to explore the fort. The staff were excellent, always very friendly and making sure we had everything we needed. The Sri Lankan breakfast in the morning was delicious!

Fantastic location in the centre of Galle Fort. We had a front room with balcony - great to sit out on and not noisy at night and the bonus of a resident peacock displaying on the balcony opposite!
Beautiful property and delightful staff. Vinod and his team make you feel a million dollars with small details adding to a first rate experience, from the flower displays to the gentle jazz music, a super clean property and great air con.
The BEST Sri Lankan breakfast and great coffee too.

Galle Fort ist was besonderes in Sri Lanka. Dieses Hotel hat unsere Erwartungen übertroffen - sehr schöner alter Bau, sehr stilvoll - ruhig, mitten im Zentrum, leckeres Frühstück, sehr, sehr freundliches zuvorkommendes Personal. Wir haben uns in diesem Hotel sehr, sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir waren nur eine Nacht dort, das reicht eigentlich um sich Galle anzusehen und die Stadt zu Fuß zu umrunden. Sollten wir noch einmal nach Galle kommen, dann würden wir dieses Hotel wieder buchen. Highlight!!

The hotel is beautiful and calm despite being ideally situated in the centre of Galle. The friendly proprietor and staff were wonderful, so cheerful and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and we loved the huge bowl of fresh fruit, hoppers, omelettes made to order, and were even invited to watch the lovely cook making the hoppers.

Mein Zimmer war das kleine Budget (Einzel-)Zimmer und wirklich sehr günstig. Allerdings war es sehr klein (8 qm) und voll (der Kleiderschrank passte eigentlich nicht rein) – das wäre eleganter zu lösen gewesen – aber ok. Erstaunt hat mich aber der Zustand des Badezimmers – vom Toilettendeckel war eine Ecke abgerochen (warum wird das nicht ausgetauscht?), der Mülleimer im Klo ist definitiv länger nicht gründlich gereinigt worden (Dreckschicht drauf) und das Bad wurde beim Duschen geflutet, das Wasser ist aber nicht vollständig abgelaufen. Zudem gab es Schimmel in Ecken und am Waschbecken.
Das hätte ich bei einem Hotel mit so einem Standard und so guten Bewertungen nicht erwartet – auch im kleinsten Zimmer nicht.
Positiv zu bemerken: zentrale Lage, das Gebäude ist schön, das Frühstück ok. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich & bemüht, ich konnte mein Zimmer früher beziehen.

Great Staff, charming building, excellent location, quality of rooms, facilities and food at the offered price. A really good find.
The showers are wet rooms (which include the sink and toilet) and you need to direct the shower water towards the plug hole to keep the en-suite from flooding the main room while you shower. Also, there are 5 different WiFi domains that work with differing strength depending on where your room is within the hotel. But, you can easily adapt around both of these and they’re small quibbles in the context of everything great.

We stayed 2 night - first night in a budget room and second in a deluxe. I would recommend paying more for the deluxe with the primary reason being the shower. Both rooms were a decent size, very clean and had excellent AC but the shower in the budget room was just the shower head on the wall, meaning that when you shower - in the small space between the toilet & the sink - absolutely everything in the bathroom gets soaked. The deluxe room had an enclosed shower, which was wonderful. The location of this hotel is wonderful and very central in this UNESCO fort town. And the breakfasts were very good. Just be sure to tell the staff BEFORE breakfast that you’d prefer eggs or an omelette to the typical Sri Lanka breakfast, otherwise the enormous spread is put out in front of you regardless of whether you can eat it or not. Staff is beyond kind. We’d definitely return if we are in Galle again.

het hotel is sfeervol en gastvrij. De locatie is ook prima. En de bedden waren goed.
De rolgordijnen konden niet omhoog waardoor we geen daglicht hadden. Bij het proberen vielen ze naar beneden, waardoor we weer teveel inkijk hadden. Dus hebben we het weer (zo goed als het kon) opgehangen. Maar dit was een grote teleurstelling.
De douche had veel mogelijkheden, maar daar hebben we geen gebruik van gemaakt. had voor mij ook niet gehoeven.

The interiors of the property were well maintained and gave colonial house vibes. We absolutely enjoyed our stay. The location is superb, inside the Galle Fort areas, making restaurants and shops very accessible. The staff is very pleasant and super friendly. They went out of their way to help us and we were really grateful for them. The local breakfast is scrumptious and they serve it generously. I would definitely recommend staying at this property if you are in Galle to experience to amazing hospitality.

Did not get the breakfast, but I think they offered free breakfast as part of the room reservation. Great location near restaurants, shops, and the old fort. Cheap. Friendly staff.
The shower water was lukewarm. The water drains into a hole in the wall that is not covered by a grate or anything. So when I went into the bathroom one morning, there was a huge Sri Lankan roach on the floor that had crawled inside, about the size of a fist. The A/C also drips water onto the pillows since the bed is positioned right underneath it.
