Ebil was super friendly and helpful with all the questions we had (also concerning treks around Huaraz). Every day a different breakfast was nice. Also tv had streaming possibilities which was a good bonus. Really good price/quality ratio.
It can get a bit noisy if people don't adjust their volume to the time of the day.

The owner of the hotel was a nice person. Breakfast was good for Peru standarts.
We didnt have good experience with the cleaning lady.

Good location about 10 mins walk to good cafes. They let us store bags with no fee (even for 10 days as we did the Huayhuash!). Breakfast good and breakfast terrace nice. Very clean and they made up the bed/emptied the bin which we weren't expecting. We could pay to do laundry. The guy seemed nice and got the collectivo for Laguna Churup to pick us up directly rather than us having to walk to find it (no extra fee). Shower was hot but be aware in our room the taps were labelled wrong - when we put the cold tap on we got hot water! Which was only through experimenting, we would have assumed no hot water otherwise!
The bedding was a little annoying, multiple layers which slid off in the night and sometimes left us a little cold. Would say a single duvet would be more comfortable but I know these are not so common in this part of the world. Using our own sleeping bag liners helped with the problem a bit. First time we stayed it was very good value for money but for some reason wasn't such a good price the second time, if we hadn't stored our bags we would have wanted to find somewhere a little less expensive the second time.

I spent almost 3 weeks with Ebel and his family in the Lhotse Hostel - and I can only recommend the hostel. Room & bathroom were absolutely clean.
The owner is a former mountain guide with many years of experience. He can give good advice on the many tour options in Huaraz and organize them. Due to good contacts to tour providers, you also have the opportunity to get tours cheaper than online.
Breakfast is served on the beautiful roof terrace with a fantastic view over Huaraz.
Hot water has also always worked.
And last but not least: I would always prefer such a privately run hostel to the well-known chains. Here you are still personally cared for. F.e. when I got sick at short notice, the family very kindly arranged a change of room and tours for me.
Also a +: Well equipped community kitchen.
Thank you very much - see you next time!
The Wi-Fi is mostly stable.

Breakfast and the rooftop area was very nice! Rooms were clean and quiet. We even booked the same place for after our Huayhuash trek
Our bathroom sometimes smelled like sewage.

Excellent value for money and a great base for hiking trips in Huaraz. We liked the fact our beds were made every day, it was very easy and cheap to book tours directly through reception and the family running the hostel were very kind. They even let us in at 6am after our night bus and gave us a bedroom straight away!
The kitchen was very clean but a little small for how many people cooked each day. Breakfast changed every day, which was good, but was very small for hungry hikers! An option of an earlier breakfast would be good as it was a rush at 7.30am before tours left at 8am. An option for a packed breakfast or to order a packed lunch for day trips would have been good, as we had experienced this in Ecuador in all the hiking destinations.

Good price for its value for sure!
Basic rooms but comfortable. As described the roof terrace is the main highlight of this hostal, nice to read a book while recovering from all the hiking. Breakfast isn’t really big but changes a little bit every day. Owners work hard, always there to help you out. Definitely recommend!
The bathroom ceiling was leaking a little bit but nothing too crazy. Also it’s a 10-15 minute walk from the center which is fine, but not great after hiking all day.

Abel and his wife were wonderful hosts, and it was great value for the price that you pay. They were able to help us arrange tours to the Cordillera Blanca mountains. Highly recommend!
Everything was amazing

Private room with private bathroom as well as the complementary basic breakfast.
A bit of a short walk from the city center but nothing too far.

Breakfast on the amazing rooftop.

Great helpful owner going out of his way to accommodate us
While we were only briefly in huaraz, the owner made sure the hostel(and room) was available in early morning after a nightbus
He also explained/arranged some day trips for very reasonable pricings and made sure we could shower after check-out coming back from a daytrip
Short but super stay

This is an amazing hostel, as many comments already mentioned. Very nice kitchen, super well equipped. A lot of space on the terrasse. Beautiful view. It`s quiet at night. Wifi everywhere. Comfortable beds. it`s always very clean, and the manager is an excellent gentleman.
If the place is full (which is not the case for me), it could be tight to have only one shower in a dorm with many beds.

The owners are amazing people, they always helped us with our tours to the mountains, and new hiking that we wanted to do. Totally recommend!!

friend and very helpful family hostel owners, great single room, nice kitchen with tremendous roof terrace views and exceptional value for money.
the walls were thin so u can hear talking outside the room
4.0
Nice staff, with good priced tours.
The room was difficult to ventilate and would be better if there was an extractor fan or external window.

Amazing rooftop kitchen, really silent sound sleep

Disparaging attitude from the owners of the hostel, unpleasant and inconsiderate, they give me excuses everytime there is problem.. lazy and disrespectful.

The staff is always trying to help. they kept our bags while we were hiking in Santa Cruz for 4 days. we booked for 3 nights but we stayed 6 nights. kitchen has almost everything you need. mostly they have hot water in bathrooms. internet connection is good. just you have to connect different lines in every floor.
rooms are a little cold but blankets are enough. there is some construction near hostel. it is noisy if you stay in front side.
4.5
Fabulous rooftop terrace, nice breakfast, incredible value for money. Plenty of tours offered and nice staff!
The room was small and basic.

The hostel has everything you need. On the top floor there is an open kitchen with full equipment and a terrace where you can sit in the evening. In the hostel you can buy local day trips (at a good price) and the popular Santa Cruz and Huayhuash trekkings (also at a good price). In addition, there is also a laundry service (7 sols per kilo). Hot water in the shower is available all day long. The beds are comfortable and a blanket is available in every room for chilly days. The owners are super nice and friendly and Ebel also speaks English. We bought Huayhuash trekking and it was great, no additional costs beyond the indicated price. In short, a great place to stay in Huaraz.
Nothing.

went to the hostel, it felt pretty empty and abandoned. room was sub-standard compared to other hostels.
left after a few hours.
location is far from city center and no other travellers to chat with

Friendly and helpfull owners (husband speaks English). Comfortable bed and shower. Breakfast with great view.
4.5
Really friendly family run hostal. Bed was comfy and shower had good pressure and temperature. Very affordable and very helpful with tours etc.
WiFi was a bit tempramental.
4.5
Great location, beautiful rooftop views for breakfast/ relaxing. Lots of opportunities to book trips through the hostel/ get washing done very quickly. Other reviews complained about hot water being Luke warm - ours was boiling and consistent!
Bed was a little hard and sheets didn’t fit the bed well so kept coming off exposing the mattress. The room was tidied daily, but toilet paper wasn’t stocked up so kept having to chase/ find more.
