About this apartment rental
"The Loft" TC is a stunning industrial modern space w/ historic & rustic features. The space was thoughtfully converted over the last few years from its original use as an industrial printing facility into a gorgeous vacation rental. Featuring approx. 2,260 sf ft of space w/ the front area of the unit can sleep up to 8 guests & the rear area of the unit can sleep up to 5 guests totaling up to 13 overnight guests. You can choose to keep the areas separate/locked or open them up to one big unit.
“The Loft” in beautiful downtown Traverse City is a perfect place to get away for you and your family and friends or guests. It's strength is to entertain, with a gorgeous chefs kitchen and commercial range along with expansive dining and living rooms. The bedrooms and bathrooms are clean, modern, and opulent. The Loft TC features awe inspiring architectural details including 12 feet of floor to ceiling brick forged right here in Traverse City from the clays of Cedar Lake just West of town. The restored 110 year old hardwood maple floors span from wall to wall and maintain their original warmth and character.
So many materials and furniture items were handpicked, handmade, reclaimed, restored, or repurposed by local artisans to showcase the rich history of materials and talent that this area is know for. Some notable features include the old rustic hemlock barn beams salvaged from a local barn to the hefty solid white oak sliding barn doors and barn wood trim. Local metalworkers hand forged custom pieces like the ladders, bird cage lighting, and aluminum glass enclosures in the entry and loft. An eclectic array of lighting was picked for the project including some hand made fixtures by local artists and even a handful of antique factory warehouse industrial lighting fixtures that were repurposed in the living room along with some modern chandeliers and fixtures in the kitchen and dining room. The buildings old french style window doors have been resurrected and repurposed as interior transom windows and even as wall and accent mirrors. Numerous other handcrafted furniture and fixtures have been made for the LoftTC including the dramatic walnut slab dining room table and bathroom vanity sourced from a local walnut tree that was downed in the Big Storm of Aug 2, 2015. The main focal point of the space is the towering wall of glass overlooking Union Street which is very close to the center of Downtown Traverse City.
Whether your stay is for a while week or a special weekend getaway, almost anything you could possibly want to experience in the Traverse City area is conveniently and easily accessed from the central location of The LoftTC. The beach is only a block away along with our beautiful bay-front and Tart Trail. Two of the best movie theaters in the world are only a block away. Shows can be seen at the City Opera house a couple hundred feet away or the Old Town Playhouse just up the road around the corner a few blocks South. The biggest festivals go on all around Traverse City but the LoftTC is in the middle of all the action, a block from the center of action the Open Space. Some of the best restaurants, bars, wine, beer, coffee and retail shops in the country are just outside the door. Wine, beer, and adventure tours operate from down the street. Culinary classes at Fustini's are a five minute walk away. Grabbing a drink from 90 feet above Traverse City at the Park Place Hotel's Beacon Lounge or drink outside one of the rooftop decks with a view of the bay at Hotel Indigo, only a few minutes away on foot, or Seven Monks Taproom and LowBar have a great vibe and are right across the Street and can be seen right out the living room windows. Coffee at Brew is just next door. Greenhouse Cafe and Harvest have some of the best breakfasts in town just down the block. Rent a kayak or bike from PaddleTC at Clinch Park a block North of The Loft TC. They even give you half off the going rates just for staying at the Loft TC. You can leave your car parked in a private parking space while you freely explore the area.
This listing is technically two legally separate condos which are across a semi private hall/fourier from each other. You can open up the entry doors to both units and your group can come and go between the two or you can close/lock the door on one or other for say if part of your group would like a private separate area and not be disturbed. Some guests like to put the kids in the back unit and use the front unit for the adults at night. The entrance to the building is semi shared with restaurant/bar staff down below (when it’s open, it’s closed for remodeling/new business currently) but the upstairs is completely private to guests in the two apartments. Both loft apartment can be rented together and combined into one unit for larger groups
As your dedicated hosts, we are available via phone, email, or text anytime. If it is something urgent we can be reached anytime by phone/text.
We are block an a half from the beach in the heart of downtown. The loft is just behind the main drag of front street on Union, one of the main North/South streets downtown. We are surrounded by quaint shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, parks, theaters, farmers market, and so much more. The loft is convenient to just about anything you could want or need when visiting Downtown Traverse City. That said, the flip side of being in the middle of all the action is that we do get some extra noise, both from the restaurant and bar below and from outside. If you are sensitive to noise, this may not be the best option for you.b
Walking is the best option downtown. We are convenient to most anything you could need or want including the beach, restaurants and bars, parking, festivals and events, local farmers market, the best little historic movie theatre, and so much more. We are close to all kinds of attractions, tours, and activities. Bicycles can be kept at our bike rack by our parking spaces and are easily rented from paddle TC two blocks away. Uber and Lyft are provided locally, and taxis can be found on Union regularly. We are two blocks from the Brew Bus depot for beer and wine tours and The Bata station is right next door. We are only 2.5 miles from the easy to use cherry capital airport and a little further to boat tours on the bays.
The loft is an incredibly unique and historic property. It is a one of a kind building filled with priceless features, and many antiques and custom, high end furnishings. It is meant to be enjoyed but also needs to be treated with the care and respect necessary to help us allow many others the opportunity to enjoy it in the future. Please take extra care not to damage these furnishings. Thank you!
Please keep all shoes in Fourier area or on landing at top of stairway. Quiet time is 12am.

We booked this loft for our annual girls weekend getaway. The location is fabulous. A block from Front Street and walking distance to many restaurants, shops and bars. The kitchen, dining and living area is very open and spacious.

Absolutely beautiful loft(s). Excellent location. Perfect place for all the cousins to spend time together. I will say the stairs were a workout but hey, after all the great food we needed the stairs. Thanks for the memories 😊

Loft was wonderful, great location, very comfortable for a group of 10. Massage chair was a hit!

We SO enjoyed our get away at this beautiful condo! Loved the main living space very open kitchen and living room. Plenty of space for the 6 of us to lounge. The massage chair was AMAZING! The view of the downtown was beautiful. Walking distance to so many great places to eat or bar hop. A short bus ride to one of our favorite restaurants, Trattoria Stella. Would definitely stay again!!

Travel to Traverse City with friends and kids to play in the snow. Unfortunately, there was no snow but still plenty to do around town. Chads place was great with games and plenty of space for all. The kids really enjoyed the massage chair in the evenings. Would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed this beautiful loft in downtown TC! Location was perfect for walking to restaurants, shops, and nightlife!

Great location, very unique property, excellent for cooking and entertaining, only drawback for some would be the bedrooms, the 2 bedrooms basically have multiple beds in them, we stayed for ice man and it was perfect 💪

Loved the lofts! Excellent location, perfect accommodations for 12 of us! Loved it.

Beautiful and elegant property with wonderful entertainment/kitchen area. Sleeping arrangements are unique and don't necessarily allow for a ton of privacy if sleeping more than 3 couples. The listing was very accurate though and so there were no surprises with the stay. Could not have a better location. Would stay again if we return.

This property was great for a group of adults spending the weekend in TC for a wedding. Centrally located, large, clean, easy process. I would stay here again.

This loft was stunning. Even more lovely than the pictures. Walking distance to everything. Great communication with property manager, although, we didn’t need to contact him for anything else. It was perfect. Restaurant below was delicious for tapas and cocktails. Loved it

This was a wonderful place for a girls get away weekend. This is conveniently located to everything downtown. The host did a great job of ensuring that we had a full understanding of the unique space immediately upon booking this location. The unit is well appointed with comfortable beds and lounging spaces along with a great kitchen and large dining table. The host provided excellent communication to all of our questions. Parking spaces are available 1 easy block away. We especially enjoyed the massage chair. Though located downtown and above a restaurant bar, it was a quiet location. You would definitely want to have a full understanding of the layout and space to make sure it meets the needs of your group.

Gorgeously renovated space, spacious with great amenities and a fantastic location in Traverse city. Only downside is the level of privacy and awkwardness of the sleeping situation. Our group was 6 adults and 3 kids, and basically nobody had a private room to sleep in due to the lack of closable doors or ceilings. Hard for adults to socialize in the evening when kids can hear everything. The ladder to the loft bed is painful on your feet, I’d recommend bringing a pair of slippers if you need to use that bed. The owner did give a heads up this would be the case shortly after booking which was nice.

Really enjoyed our stay. Home add everything we needed and lots of fun exploring opportunities for the kids. Would definitely stay here again.

This condo made our trip! The location is amazing. The huge windows overlooking the busy street, make you feel like you’re still out and about even when you’re relaxing in the oversized chairs near the window. We will definitely be back.

This property is amazing and a great place to host! The only downside is the parking issue but the owners are very communicative about what to do and where to park, but it is the only slight inconvenience of the stay. Otherwise this property was beautiful, well stocked, and comfortable. The location can’t be beat for a trip to traverse city!

PERFECT Vrbo rental for a 10 person bachelorette party!! Bathroom situation can be a little tough with only 2 bathrooms but we made it work! The loft is so so gorgeous for photos and party decorating!! Modern, unique & beautiful! You will love your stay and enjoy spending time in the loft! Only negatives are the lock codes are confusing and make arrival at the loft a bit stressful…especially if your hands are full!! Parking is also a little tough if you have more than 3 drivers. Only other downside is there are strict instructions that shoes must not be worn inside the loft, however after a few hours inside the loft, those in my party who were not wearing socks, had dirty, black looking bottoms of our feet! This was unexpected for a unit that shoes are not allowed; the wood floors are definitely due for a good cleaning & sanitizing!!!
5.0
The loft was exactly as presented and we LOVED it. It is a true loft so there are only really two private bedrooms. However, the space can easily sleep 10-12 as long as no one minds the open ceiling connection. Perfect space for a bachelorette party or ladies’ getaway. We only had 4 people sleeping there but we were able to have my family over for drinks before a rehearsal dinner. The space is very generous and well stocked. You are a short block’s walk to Front Street.
Overall, a fun and different place to stay! Very clean and we appreciated the no shoes rule as we do not wear shoes in our home. Being so close to downtown was a huge bonus and it was very nice to have coffee and watch everyone on the street below in the morning.
The only tiny downside is entering next to a dumpster and sharing the entry lobby with a restaurant kitchen. The lobby area was definitely smelly at times and not very clean. But, you are in a city and, taking that into consideration, it is certainly understandable!

We had the best time here on a girls trip! The place was beautiful, had everything you could need and the location was amazing. There was more than enough room for 13 girls. The property manager was externally kind and questions we had during our were answered right away.

We loved our time here. The property is beautiful and the manager is great to work with. The location is wonderful for enjoying Traverse City. Agree with other reviews that it would provide very limited privacy for a big group but it worked well for our family.

This is a lovely property—the location is right in the heart of downtown Traverse City, so walking to stores, the beach, and restaurants was so easy and convenient. It’s also just a short drive to Suttons Bay or Old Mission. The space is impeccably decorated and spares no expense on luxury appliances and gorgeous fixtures. My only warning would be that the back bedroom is near several dumpsters in an alley, and garbage collection goes on all night, so if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs and even a box fan or white noise machine. Also, like a previous reviewer stated, pay attention to the layout of the property in the pictures. It would be a perfect space for a bachelor/bachelorette/girls weekend , and it was great for what I needed, but most of the beds are not truly private, so I’d hesitate on booking this if you were trying to book a family vacation with a lot of people or a trip with several couples, or if you just want some privacy. This is not a complaint at all—I can just see people selecting it because it says it has five bedrooms. The property manager was fantastic and quickly responded to any questions I had. I would definitely stay there again.

Place was great, we had been to Traverse City many times before using hotels and other VRBOs but this one was our favorite. Went with family and our 2 children, one 2 years and one 3 months, and it was a great space for us. The proximity to downtown was great and overall one of the best places we have stayed. Will be staying here again and would highly recommend.
