About this house rental
WHY KNOT? Vacation Home. Bring your boat and dog! New rental in 2020. This open floor plan, renovated home features a spacious 4 bedroom / 2 bathroom plan (plus outdoor shower) that has been expanded (over 1,600 square feet). Why Knot is located on one of OIB’s straight out canals putting you on the Intracoastal Waterway in minutes via your boat or our kayak (included) from your own private dock. There are lots of great spaces to enjoy outside whether it is the screened in porch, open deck to star gaze or the large space under the house with shade all afternoon! And you’re within short walking distance of the new park and concerts, pier, putt-putt, restaurants and activities, and beach, or you can enjoy to quiet and solitude of being near the end of the street.
The tastefully decorated interior features a master bedroom with 1 king and a sitting area looking over the canal. There is a second room with 1 king that also looks over the canal. Enjoy beautiful sunrises from each of these rooms. There are 2 guest rooms. One with 1 queen and 1 twin, and a second large guest room with 1 queen and a twin daybed with a twin trundle. Each bedroom has a full closet. New bedding and frames, new sofa and loveseat, and new smart TV’s (7) in every bedroom, the living room, and on the screened porch. The outdoor living and grilling area under the house make for great relaxing and being able to watch all of your shows and sports from anywhere! The home has a spacious, renovated kitchen with all appliances and just off the kitchen is a main level laundry room with washer and dryer. The kitchen is stocked with all new kitchen utensils, pots, pans and large pots for seafood boils. There is a regular coffee pot and a Keurig. The dining table will seat 6 plus 4 at the bar. New LVP flooring in the main area and master. With ceiling fans in every room and updated smooth ceilings and mouldings, this home provides the best of the traditional beach bungalow with modern finishes and conveniences. For the colder months there’s a gas fireplace in the living room as well.
The exterior features a delightful screened porch just off the living room that looks over the canal with a sofa and two chairs, tv and sunscreens. There is also a main level deck with chairs and a table perfect for cocktails overlooking the canal while you enjoy the stars and the breeze blowing through the palm trees. On the ground level, there’s a spacious, clean and private outdoor shower, locking storage area for tackle, coolers or anything else with an ice maker and extra refrigerator. The cook in your family will enjoy the 4 burner gas grill and 36” gas Blackstone, both adjacent to the seating area under the house and out of the sun or rain. There is ample deck space with 2 picnic tables, bar and bar stools, lounge chairs, rockers and 6 adirondack chairs, and a swing. The dock has a very nice fish cleaning station with fresh water and a fresh water hose for cleaning your boat, toys or flushing your engine. A great house for those that love to fish! The fenced area allows your pets (fee applicable for pets) to roam while you enjoy the deck space, dock and outdoor area under the house. There are crab traps on site and you can crab and fish off of the dock in the natural canal. We also provide beach chairs for your use on the beautiful OIB beaches! Ample parking ensures room for all both in the drive way and under the house.
The golf cart on site is not for guest use nor is it included in the rent, however we’ll be happy to provide info for rental companies that offer golf carts. Please feel free to enjoy the kayak! No linens or towels are provided however we’re happy to refer you to rental companies for this as well. Rental boats, jet skis, kayaks and bikes are all available close by.

Everything was great! There are a lot of extras in the house. The downstairs was perfect for hanging out after the beach and tne shower was a bonus. No complaints!

We have been staying at Ocean Isle for 33 years. This was by far the cleanest and best maintained property we have stayed at. It was nicely decorated and the kitchen was large with plenty of pots, plates, glasses, bowls, etc.

Love that all 5 bedrooms have a bathroom. And a 1/2 bath in the living room too. Convenient to beach access. Love that this place is dog friendly too.

My family and I are frequent visitors of OIB but this was our first time at Why Knot. I can truly recommend this property for families and boat owners as the location is perfect. A short walk to the beach or the center of OIB. For boat owners you are a very short distance to fuel and bait. The property is well thought out and set up perfectly for those who want to spend time on the water. Kristen and Kent are friendly and prompt to communicate. They have thought of everything to make your time as enjoyable as possible!

I can’t say enough about our stay at WhyKnot. The home was so comfortable and had everything you could need and more: a full kitchen, screened-in porch, and amazing outdoor area under the house. Right on the canal and only a few minutes to the beach. Kristin and Kent were so kind and helpful. I hope to go back!

Why Knot was the perfect place to stay for us - comfortable for all people and dog, convenient to restaurants, grocery stores and activities. From booking our stay, to time of departure Kristin and Kent kept in touch and were informative. A lovely Welcome note and package greeted us upon arrival. I loved how everything was labeled! ....eliminating guess work. Even a reminder about the full moon and best viewing area truly personalized and considerate. We plan on staying here again! My family and I had such a good time at “WHY NOT”. We have stayed in several houses at Ocean Isle Beach and this house is top notch. The house was very clean, it’s on a nice canal within walking distance to the beach and the communication with the host was direct and easy. “WHY NOT”, has all the amenities you could ask for. You can definitely tell that the owners take pride in their property. We’re ready for a summer trip when we can enjoy the water. Thanks for trusting us with your beautiful home.

Kristen and Kent have a wonderful home with so many amenities.It is right on a canal which we enjoyed-we loved their setup under the house with a bar,TV,chairs etc.It is fenced off and we could just let the dogs roam safely-luckily they are not brave enough to jump in.
The house is spacious, beds comfortable.Wish the price included linens/towels but everything else was available.
They are surrounded by water-I would suggest renting a golf cart.
Their communication is excellent and you will love Ocean isle-they gave us lots of restaurant recommendations and we enjoyed them all.Thanks Kristin and Kent!

The home and property was everything that was advertised...and more! Very comfortable and accomodating. Spacious for our family of 8, plus our 2 dogs. The owners thought of everything and were so very gracious in sharing their home and amenties with our family. It was quite a treat...from the kitchen to the dock...we didn't want for anything! Life was GREAT! Thank you so much for a memorable vacation with my family. We look forward to another visit to OIB at WhyKnot!

We had a great time at OIB and loved staying at the Why Knot. The house is clean and beautifully decorated. Our check in process and continued communication with the owner was seamless. The house was fully stocked and the attention to detail was incredible. The owners truly thought of everything to make the experience more enjoyable. This rental was perfect for our 8-person group. It was very comfortable with plenty of places to sit inside and out. Also many games inside and out, and tv's in/out too! We enjoyed the well-stocked, spacious kitchen and never ran out of ice. This is a great rental -if only we owned a boat!! PS: All VRBO owners should provide a detailed list of what the rental has and does not have, plus a bunch of tips, like ours did - it was very much appreciated!

We had a wonderful time at Why Knot?! It is everything you need for a great beach vacation! The kitchen was well-stocked with the things we needed to cook and the outdoor spaces are fantastic. The kids really enjoyed fishing from the dock. The location is great as it’s close to the beach and the center of the island. Communication from the owners was also great. We will definitely be back!

Our family was very happy with everything about this home. From communication, to check in, to location, to amenities, it was all excellent. The hosts were very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. Keyless checkin was very convenient. The screened porch was a favorite gathering place as it was shaded in the afternoons. With our golf cart, we were 1-2 minutes from the beach, the park, the pier, and restaurants. Our family all agreed that we would return to Why Knot again.

Loved Why Knot and definitely plan on returning. Great location and within walking distance to morning coffee, evening wine, and mini-golf for the kids. And it looks like there’s a boat rental that will deliver to the dock out back. House was in great shape and the hosts were very helpful and thoughtful.

We had a great stay! The house has something for everyone and we especially enjoyed relaxing on the screened in porch over looking the water. We were close enough to walk to the beach and the restaurants on Ocean Isle which was definitely a plus! The house was clean and just as advertised. We could hang out, stress free alongside our dogs without having to worry since it is completely fenced in below the house where there are rocking chairs, a porch swing, grills, bar, TV, dock, the list goes on! Thank you so much for having us and we hope to be back soon!

This home was one of our top two rentals ever and the best we have booked in OIB. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and all the little amenities that made this rental stand out. There were fishing rods and crab traps and there was a kayak available so we could make full use of the canal behind the home. We booked the “Follow Me” team for deep sea fishing and they picked us up on the dock behind the home. Everything was great. Thank you!

Hosts Kristin and Kent were great, communicating with helpful texts and ideas. From the well stocked kitchen, to the amazing outdoor gathering area including games, beach gear, TV and dock, our family had a wonderful week! The location was close to everything, including restaurants, the park our grandaughter loved, the pier and beach. We enjoyed fishing and crabbing from the dock and our dog loved hanging out with family in the outdoor area. The Blackstone grill was a plus! Ocean Isle Beach is a great family beach and Why Knot did not disappoint! We definitely will visit again!

Great Family Vacation!
We loved our time as a family staying at Why Knot. Kristen and Kent were wonderful! We rented a golf cart and enjoyed exploring the different beach access points. You can walk to the beach, but this made it easier with all our chairs and umbrellas. The dock was great for fishing and the space under the house was fun to relax and play games after a day at the beach! Highly recommend!

First off the Why Knot house is amazing with breathtaking views. Close to shops yet quiet as if your in the country. Very close to shops, beach and activities (most are walking distance from house) our hosts were unbelievable and we're available anytime via text for any questions I had.

Why Knot was one of the best vacation spots I've been on
First off the Why Knot house is amazing with breathtaking views. Close to shops yet quiet as if your in the country. Very close to shops, beach and activities (most are walking distance from house) our hosts were unbelievable and we're available anytime via text for any questions I had.
