Region: Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.

Town: Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just outside the village, is a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination. The surrounding area is dominated by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must. For the energetic, the SW Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions it winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside. Head north along the path and in 2.5 miles is the beautiful village of Boscastle with its quaint quay and village pubs for refreshment. Further afield are the surfing meccas of Newquay and Bude, with their resort attractions, while the open spaces of Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, Padstow and the Camel Estuary are all within a 40-minute drive. Moreover, if you happen to be bringing a dog, Trebarwith Strand Beach (Dog friendly) is situated within a couple of miles, with a wonderful establishment by the name of Port WIlliam (Dog friendly pub) overlooking the beach.

Just a few minutes stroll away from the best pasty shop in Cornwall...Pengenna Pasty shop, although the Cornish Pasty shop nearby did a lovely buttery croissant and latte that became a morning must have. The village was especially quiet at that time of the morning and Gull Cottage was in a peaceful cul-de-sac close to the coastal path. The accomodation was spacious, clean and had all that was needed for a comfortable stay. It is a ground floor only annexe which was a pleasant surprise. The owner was on hand to answer queries and keen to help if needed, but left us to our own devices. We shall surely return to Gull Cottage.
