Fantastic staff with mediocre management. You can tell the staff was trained properly in most of the hospitality areas. Everyone is smiling and willing to lend a hand. On the other hand, the manager didn’t care for anything but his islamic guests, whom he has shown around the place and paid for their breakfasts every single morning after a techno party had been going on until 2 AM. Nobody reached out to us regarding the fact that we could have not slept for three days in a row. Not a single word by the manager, despite our various complaints. Shame.
The management of the resort is not really invested in the guests’ needs. Four out of ten nights, the hot water was not running in our villa. Solution? We got a complimentary fruit platter on day four with a note saying that they really cared. There was a loud techno festival going on for three out of ten nights at the adjacent beach, which resulted in us not being able to sleep for three nights in a row. When we raised this with the staff, we were kindly informed that they had no idea the festival was scheduled. Above that, we were very kindly informed that as we’re at a bay, the sound travels on the water surface - resulting in loud thumping noises in our villa’s bedroom.
Also, external (foos, I guess) service is prohibited on the premises. However, this does not apply to hookers, which you will meet accompanying British tourists a lot. The food is three to four times more expensive than in adjacent venues, with equal quality.

The pier jetty which is available for a private meal on request is stunning and that was a fantastic experience. You can also have happy house cocktails on there 6-7:30pm. The staff were SO friendly. You can contact front desk and deal with all requests through WhatsApp which was so handy.
To be clear this is a perfectly lovely property. The issue is that we also spent time at a 4 star property in Bo Phut which had equally stunning views (fraction of the price) and had a few ups on this property, for eg;
- soft drinks in the minibar were complimentary whereas you had to pay here
- towels were changed every day whereas ours were left just lying about on the property. I asked for clean ones on last day and they provided
- I had told them it was our honeymoon but there wasn’t anything to signify this (all other hotels had just put rose petals in the bed ect just as a lovely touch)
- breakfast was in an air conditioned room whereas it was quite uncomfortable at breakfast in the heat at the Lemai
- gym not the best with only one treadmill
- we had to drag our suitcases up and down stairs on arrival
- grouting of pool and grounds are a little dated
In summary if you don’t mind paying extra and just want to lounge around pool for entire stay then this is perfect. In my opinion for a five star hotel it’s a little
shabby and should just make a few improvements to bring it up to the standard that is reflected by the price.

The Lamai is a fantastic destination. The staff are wonderful, The food and menu superb. The view, pool, beach and jetty are all excellent. Highly recommended.

Fantastic rooms - very clever and authentic design. Very practical layout incorporating a central cooling plunge pool to an open sky atrium. Really nice bathrooms and a fantastic bedroom with traditionally styled timberwork throughout. Very comfortable bed. Great curtains. Excellent fans and ventillation. No view from room but not needed as views from common areas are fantastic. Very quiet area (def no auircraft noise).Excellent easy access to delightful beach andinteresting walks, The buffet breakfast was excellent. Great choices. All was very very fresh with wide variety and well prepared and presented. No hesitation in recommending The Lamai very highly!!
Would have been nice to stay longer.... Such an underated property - no hesitation in recommending and staying again.

Amazing staff who went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Beautiful setting and views over the beach and ocean. Spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Great amenities. Good food and cocktails. Good breakfast. Five star resort.
Mosquitoes and cockroaches in shower - whilst this cannot be avoided due to setting, more could have been done to prevent wildlife, particularly cockroaches, from entering accommodation. When this was raised with staff, a suitable solution was not unfortunately found.

The location of the hotel was amazing, it was in a great area and we were able to walk and taxi everywhere. It was also right on a private beachfront which was amazing.
The service and staff were exceptional. They were all very helpful and kind. Checking in and out was very easy.
The room was great! Air conditioned, comfy and very clean. Lots of space and was a nice comfortable space. Pool was nice and the gym was really good too.
I loved the breakfast. Drinks by the pool and on the private pier was very cool.
Would recommend this place to anyone and would stay there again.

Alles, we kunnen zo niets bedenken wat beter kon. Om te beginnen is het personeel heel erg goed, er ontbreekt niets aan service en vriendelijkheid! En de ligging van het hotel, de faciliteiten, het restaurant, het zwembad, de kamer - alles was helemaal in orde. Zwemmen in de zee is niet echt optie, daarvoor is het eigenlijk te ondiep maar dat was voor ons geen issue. De massage in de spa is ook echt een aanrader. Verder hebben we drie excursies via het hotel geboekt, ook allemaal de moeite waard. Kortom: we hebben een heerlijke week vakantie gehad in dit hotel.

The hotel is really charming - not brand new but very well maintained. Our room was exceptional. Particularly loved the living room area and the outdoor shower. Very spacious and spotless. Excellent breakfast as well, with lots of options. Everyone from the staff was amazing. Overall, highly recommended.
Not that it’s the hotel’s fault but the Ocean Pier was not open. We were actually looking forward to enjoying some cocktails there but due to some stronger waves the days before, the pier was not in place.

Feels like a hidden gem… exceptional staff - friendly, warm and very very welcoming! They even remember your name from day 1 throughout the stay - fantastic hospitality!! The GM is present and approachable in the best way - shares ideas for excursions and insights about Ko Samui. The facility feels overall almost like a mystic temple with a lot of warmth and never crowded. Very very good breakfast and high level spa area. Easy access to the bay and Lamai beach - enjoyed long walks at the beach. Overall, highly recommended!!
Here and there, you see the age of the facility - some brush up may help to bring back the full shine. The bed was unfortunately not the best… somehow my back did not like the mattress…

The communal areas of the hotel are very nice. The pool area and the restaurant are beautiful. The private pier is also great, with happy hour service in the evenings. The beach area is nice too. The staff is extremely nice and very helpful. Everyone smiles, they are fantastic. Everything is very clean and the rooms are extremely clean. The hotel is an island of tranquillity, it's recharging to be there. The massage service is super. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are impeccable. The hotel kitchen is great. New Year's Eve was fantastic. The best choice, I think anyone who comes here to relax will not regret it, I recommend it to everyone.

Superb cleanliness and very comfortable rooms. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our son’s bag was lost at the airport & the staff here at The Lamai went above and beyond with phone calls in Thai to the airline involved and made sure we were updated. They even gave us the room for another night to await the delivery of the luggage, then brought it to our room with smiles. Overall a really lovely stay and we can highly recommend and will return. Thank you to each and every member of staff.

Millions of mosquitos! Killed 23 in the room. As there were many slits in the windows, mosquitos entered although we closed the doors and windows!
Towels were dirty. Breakfast buffet was not a 5 star buffet. Maxium 3 stars! Totally over-prized! We were lucky that we only slept 1 night there and could move on to a real 5 star hotel!

La posizione era molto buona, isolata e tranquilla, ma allo stesso tempo vicino al centro di Lamai e ai suoi punti di interesse.
Personale super cordiale e disponibile! Appena arrivati ci hanno fatto sentire a nostro agio e ci hanno aiutato più volte ogni volta che avevamo un problema (noleggio scooter, problemi col volo ecc.).
Anche il ristorante dell'hotel era buono e con prezzi non esagerati.
Il bar sul molo nel mare era bellissimo e creava un'atmosfera di relax e pace indescrivibile!
Peccato che non vi erano sdraio sulla spiaggia privata davanti all'hotel, anche se comunque le sdraio della piscina erano a neanche 20 metri dalla spiaggia.
Il resort era infestato dalle zanzare, specialmente nel bagno era pieno, ma immagino si possa fare poco per questo.
