About this house rental
A cozy mountain setting near Asheville, Black Mountain, and Montreat. At the heart of all the attractions our mountains have to offer: hike, bike, river sports, Biltmore Estate, Chimney Rock, Asheville events, LEAF and other major festivals. Or just kick back and enjoy our comfortable, cozy setting. This cottage can hold as little as two people or can sleep 6. The back porch is wonderful to enjoy a cup of coffee as the sun comes up through the trees. We welcome you!

This was a perfect fit for my best friend and I to meet up for a week of relaxation and exploring the area. The location made it easy to get to Ashville and Black Mountain and the surrounding areas for our adventures. We loved the back porch for breakfast and cards in the evening.

For our 3 day weekend in Asheville, this property was perfect! Close to a grocery store and a few fun restaurants in the area, and to get to downtown was just a short under 20 minute drive. The property was clean and had all the things we needed. The back yard was a bonus with being fenced in and perfect for the kiddos to run around. It also seemed to be a safe area with wonderful views! If we are coming back in the area we will definitely look up the Cardinal Cottage again. Thanks for the lovely stay!

Just FYI, the night light in the master bath needs a new bulb. Really enjoyed our stay. Did take the topper off the queen bed. Maybe just replacing the mattress would be a better fix.

We stayed at Nancy and Barry's place the first time about 2 years ago and again this past weekend. It was wonderful then and wonderful now. It's a very clean and nicely decorated 3 bedroom unit, with all the necessities. The hosts are very communicative from booking to check-in to check-out. Everything was easy and smooth. It's a great location and a short drive from everything. Highly recommend. I give them an A+ :)

This was an Anniversary trip to Biltmore. The home was very clean, comfortable and we enjoyed staying here very much! Wish we could have explored Black Mountain a little more. An interesting town! Thanks so much for opening your lovely home to us! Love Cardinals, too!

This cottage is by far the cleanest that I have ever rented. It is convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville, Western NC Nature Center, Sliding Rock, Looking Glass Falls and Mount Mitchell. The owner is so sweet and accommodating!

Great location & comfy house. The back deck was wonderful for dinner & relaxing after a day of exploring! The road was pleasant for taking evening strolls & nearby Charles Owen Park was a delightful way to start my mornings! I would stay at this cottage again although I would need a lesson on how to operate the TV & open windows (probably user error!!)!!

Our stay was nice and easy. There was plenty of room to have 5 separate beds with the trundle beds. It was closer to town than I thought it would be, but still in a peaceful setting.

We really enjoyed our stay. Great property and location, clean, comfortable, and the check in-and-out process was simple and easy.
We also absolutely loved our dinner at Busch Farmhouse in Black Mountain. Fantastic food - you should definitely make time to give it a try!

We needed a place to stay close to Black Mountain without paying the Black Mountain prices that had everything we needed. We found it. It was our sons graduation and the last thing we needed was to worry about our stay. Plenty of room for my wife and our 2 adult children. If would sleep probably 6 or 8. It was very clean. Within a 5 minute drive to almost everything. The property had all the supplies we needed and had plenty of additional blankets and pillows. The owners were very polite and responded promptly. Thank you for helping us make ours sons graduation a pleasant one.

Stayed the coldest weekend with temperatures below zero. It was so cold that the lockbox outside was frozen shut. Called Nancy and they had someone there to let us in ASAP. Would definitely book again.

This lovely, spacious cabin was incredibly comfortable for our party of 5! We had two adults, two 18-year olds, and a 20-year-old. There was plenty of space for everyone.
The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed, and we ate almost all our meals there. All the appliances were current and worked wonderfully well.
The beds all had SUPER comfortable memory foam mattress, so we all slept like logs! ;-)
Everything in the house was labeled and easy to find and had instructions for use.
It was a beautiful area, convenient to Black Mountain and Asheville with a fenced-in backyard for younger kids.
We would definitely stay here again in the future!

We came up for a long weekend. Everything was clean, well maintained, and well communicated. Property is easy to access by car and close to attractions, but still in a nicely quiet neighborhood. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again!

When we travel and use VRBO we generally search for properties that are rated "clean" and are usually disappointed. This property is actually clean and well maintained. Whole house is very organized and instructions are clear and not overly complicated. Easy communication with nice owners. Easy to get on 70 or 40 to head in to Asheville or Black Mountain. We would stay here again.

This property worked well for my family and I. My brother-in-law has some handicap issues, but everything worked out just fine. There were no stairs to climb and plenty of room to maneuver.
There is one suggestion, and that is that you let your guest know in advance that there is no bath soap, shower gel, or body wash. That way they will know to bring some with them. Thanks for everthing.

Quaint and clean
We enjoyed our stay at this home in Swannanoa. Close to Black Mountain and Asheville. Many things to do in the area, you just need to decide what fits your particular wants. Nancy and Barry were very good and accommodating hosts.

Cozy Spot Nestled in Mountains
The scenery here is 10 out of 10--you're less than a mile from Ingles, gas stations, a brewery, etc. but since the house is located up a hill in a quiet neighborhood, you feel tucked away! Honestly everything about this spot is great; the only issue my friends & I had was with how loud the septic system is. Every time you flush, turn on a sink or shower there is a rather loud noise along with a vibrating grumble from below the house. During the day this is a non-issue but when people went to the bathroom overnight/early morning, it immediately woke me up and was hard to get back to sleep. I only say this to caution fellow light sleepers!
Other than that, the spot is truly great.

Easy access to Hidden River Events (wedding)
Friends and I spent a last weekend at Cardinal Cottage and it worked well for us. The place is cute, clean and cozy. We were attending wedding festivities so we did not cook but the kitchen seemed well stocked. Beds were very comfortable and check in and out was a breeze.

Everything was very well organized and location was perfectly located for us.
It what is our first time in the area and we wanted to visit both Asheville and Black Mountain so the house was the perfect size and perfect location for us. It was the first time in my life to see a red cardinal in person. ❣️
