My sisters and I stayed here and it was perfect! The location was fantastic, the rooms were great (and smelled lovely), the pool was amazing and the staff were super friendly. The breakfast was great from the restaurant next door and we also went for an evening meal there (highly recommend). We had a car which could be parked in the car park next to the hotel which was great. Couldn’t recommend this hotel enough - right in the centre, feels safe and close to the lake! Thank you!

Relación calidad precio es muy buena , la habitación estaba muy amplia también y limpia , l locación es perfecta está a pocos metros del fuerte de San Felipe y además te incluye el desayuno en el precio que si bien no tienen muchas opciones pero resuelven la vdd
El recepcionista que nos recibió muy antipático y sin ganas de trabajar ese día creo yo , ya luego nos tocó otra persona y ella si súper amable

Todo me gustó. Excelente la atención del Personal, la habitación la alberca, el desayuno, la seguridad y todo en general.
Una situación ajena al hotel, que es mucha tierra y lodo por obras en las calles cercanas.

Me gustó la instalación es muy bonito cómodo y limpio, ofrecen servicio toallas limpias y siempre huele bien después de la limpieza.
Los desayunos incluidos están ricos peeeero solo ofrecen huevito, tostada de humus, y avena (aparte de la fruta y café jugo) pero es bastante rico.
Ubicación muy cerca de todo lo recomiendo.
Casi alado está MR TACO lo súper recomendamos.
los recepcionistas mmm te hacen caras cuando vas por el ticket para el desayuno aparte de ser medio “pasivo agresivos” pero BUENO.
Aparte, llevábamos un equipo de Dj (nos dejaron tocar en el balcón con volumen bajo se agradece) pero nos quisieron echar la culpa de que se fue la luz cuando NO usamos su fuente de energía en ningún momento para cuando se fue la luz como (30 mins después) ya habíamos dejado de tocar. Estábamos en la ducha y en ese momento se fue la luz y nos quedamos a oscuras (no regreso) y al mandar msj NOS CULPARON A NOSOTROS y al contestarles nos dejaron en “leído” ni una disculpa ni nada. Aparte que le comentamos que podríamos mostrarles que el equipo funcionaba sin energía.
sin contar que TODOS LOS DÍAS QUE ESTUVE SE FUE LA LUZ Y YA NI VOLVIMOS A TOCAR POR LO MISMO. Me mandaron msjs pasivo agresivos para decirme “que no habría luz porque tienen que REPARAR” aparte la piscina estuvo lista hasta el 2do día en la tarde que llegamos a pesar que llegamos a buena hora el primer día… siempre ponían un pretexto.

El personal es un poco grosero, no le dan la atención adecuada a los huéspedes y el desayuno que contiene la renta de las habitaciones te lo dan de malas, nos tuvimos que esperar más de una hora y media para que nos sirvieran, ya que llegaba gente extranjera y los atendían primero y a nosotros desde que entramos nos atendieron con despotismo y nos tardaron mucho desde que se les dijo que íbamos por el desayuno que contenía el alojamiento

De kamer had voldoende hang- en legkasten. De combinatie van airconditioning en ventilator was prettig. De douche was fijn met een goede waterdruk. We verbleven in een rustige straat, bij een goed restaurant. Alles was op loopafstand

El hotel es precioso! Y ubicado convenientemente a 5 minutos caminando de la plaza principal donde se encuentran todos los restaurantes de Bacalar. El personal es muy atento y amable. Nuestra estancia incluyó desayuno el cual puedes escoger entre huevos en diferentes presentaciones , avena o pan con humus. Incluye café y fruta.
Como todo en la Riviera Maya, la propiedad es un poco cara para lo que recibes (el baño era pequeño y el lavabo aún más), pero este fue uno de los mejores hoteles donde nos quedamos en nuestro recorrido por la Riviera Maya.

Hotel Sur is very nicely located, close to the Laguna and the town centre. They offer a private parking spot, laundry service for a fair price, and complementary breakfast. It's a small-scale accommodation with spacious rooms equipped with AC and a huge comfortable bed. Staff are friendly and accommodating. The pool was area was clean and inviting and a nice place to cool down and relax.
Unfortunately, the WiFi was very unstable, although I must say the staff tried their best to help with that by offering a mobile hotspot.
Also, the rooms are quite noisy (as is the case in many Mexican accommodations), and the neighbours have a few roosters that were crowing ALL. DAY. LONG. from 3 AM onwards. So if you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs ;).
The complementary breakfast was fine, however limited. A bit of fruit or yoghurt would be a nice addition.

A lovely little hotel in a beautiful setting. The location was excellent - very close to the lagoon. The rooms were big and comfortable. We particularly liked the complementary cacao body wash! The breakfast (at the restaurant next door) was tasty and well organised with enough choice to suit all tastes.

The location of most activities was within close proximity. The park was two blocks away and the lagoon one a block away.
The tour of the seven colors is a must-do. No need to book in advance.
The Mediterranean restaurant next door where the complimentary breakfast was provided (included in the hotel booking) was a little pricey.

During my recent stay at the hotel, I had the opportunity to experience some positive aspects that made my visit enjoyable. Firstly, I was pleased with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. From the moment I arrived, they greeted me with warm smiles and were readily available to assist with any inquiries or requests I had throughout my stay. Their professionalism and attentiveness contributed to a welcoming atmosphere.
Secondly, the hotel's location was incredibly convenient. Situated in a prime area, it provided easy access to nearby attractions, restaurants, and public transportation. This allowed me to explore the city without any hassle, saving valuable time and effort. I appreciated the convenience this offered, especially as a traveler keen on making the most of my limited time.
Furthermore, the room itself was clean and well-maintained. Housekeeping did an excellent job of ensuring the space was tidy and comfortable. The amenities provided were satisfactory, and the bed was comfortable, allowing for a good night's sleep after a long day of exploring.
While there were positive aspects of my stay at the hotel, I feel compelled to express my disappointment regarding the low shower pressure I encountered. Unfortunately, this issue significantly affected my overall experience.
Upon entering the bathroom, I had high hopes for a refreshing and invigorating shower. However, those hopes were quickly dashed when I turned on the water. The pressure was disappointingly weak, akin to a mere trickle. Despite adjusting the showerhead and trying different settings, the water flow remained insufficient. This frustrating experience impacted my ability to fully enjoy my stay.
A strong, invigorating shower is a basic expectation when staying at a hotel. It was disheartening to encounter such a significant flaw in this regard. The lack of water pressure made it difficult to rinse off properly and left me feeling unrefreshed. This issue had a negative impact on my mornings and overall satisfaction with my stay.
I hope that the hotel management takes immediate action to rectify this issue, ensuring that future guests do not face the same frustration. A satisfying shower experience is an essential part of any stay, and I believe that addressing this problem will greatly enhance the overall guest experience.

Good hotel. The room was big but basic. The staff was very nice. We booked a catamaran cruise via the hotel and it was incredible. The hotel is located next to a good restaurant and is close to a lot of restaurants. Decent Wi-Fi.
The bathroom doesn't have a ventilation so the room was very humid. It took at least 5mn to get warm/hot water. There is a chicken coop of some sorts next to the hotel. Not great if you want to sleep after 7 AM.

This hotel is in the greatest location. We loved being in the middle of Bacalar! If you like walking, we were easily able to walk down to the lagoon and downtown district and up to park area surrounding the historical Spanish fort. We were right near a cute Italian restaurant that had live music playing every day and the market. Tons of food options. Safe and fun! The hotel room was larger than most! The beds were extremely comfortable. The balcony had the greatest views. I felt at home- every amenity you could ask. Including free on-site parking! There are no complaints! I have nothing but compliments for Hotel Sur Bacalar.
But most importantly, the staff was phenomenal! I wish I could acknowledge the young at the front desk- not only was her smile welcoming, anything we asked, she accommodated us promptly. We enjoyed our stay to the highest degree!
Nothing negative. I didn’t stay long enough! If I knew the property was this great in advance, I would have extended my stay.

Lovely big room with kitchen and balcony. (It was in a separate building next door to main part of hotel.) Perhaps could have done with a bit of a spring clean though.

Well located for walking to lots of restaurants, shops, etc.
Booked a boat tour for us that included swimming but wouldnt let us take a pool towel for the trip.
The thumping dance music till very very late on Wednesday - apparently the only night of the week it's on at a club a few blocks away. We stayed 3 nights and the other 2 nights were very peaceful. The hotel has not control over the noise, and all central hotels would have been addected by it. Just avoid Bacalar on Wednesdays if you prefer sleeping to dancing!
