About Our House: 1020 South Shore Drive, Surf City
Lifesaver Beach House is an oceanfront completely remodeled house - rare in Surf City. Our goal for this house is to be always clean with modern features & luxurious amenities - a serene home to connect with your loved ones! Pull up to wide driveway to accommodate multiple vehicles and front area to enjoy.
The house is 2 separate levels. In the upstairs, you have 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and a kitchen/living room open concept with unreal views overlooking the porch to the ocean. With a wall full of windows and doors, the natural light and ocean views will immediately leave you in awe. Kitchen is built for a cook with brand new appliances, Ninja Blender, Kitchen Aid Mixer, Cuisinart Coffee Pot, and more. Enjoy everything to host as well! Sit at the dining room table and overlook the ocean. The living room is complete with an extra large 70” TV, Fireplace, and loads of seating. Master has King Bed, TV, and private brand new bathroom. Guest Room #1 has a Queen Bed and Guest Room #2 has a King Bed with 2 Twin Trundles - perfect for the kids or simply a couple.
Downstairs is a separate apartment with its own private entrance at ground level. Walk in to a full living room with 50” TV and full kitchen (that means 2 ovens and 2 fridges in the house for large groups!). The living room has a super comfy Sofa Bed. A Queen Bedroom is also in the downstairs apartment with a full bathroom (that has an incredible shower). The downstairs is great for someone that requires a little extra privacy or needs an escape. The downstairs is also fully equipped with 2 desks, a monitor, and desk chairs in the downstairs living room and downstairs bedroom. Great WiFi throughout both levels (3 Google Extenders to reach everywhere powerfully) - perfect from working remote from the beach!
The porch needs its own section because it is TOO good. With Polywood Adirondacks and Polywood High Top Chairs drinking your coffee watching the sunrise has never been better. Watch the dolphins in the surf or the kids on the beach easily while taking in the view of the pier - this is a porch you will never want to leave. Walk down the steps and you are at the beach!! Outdoor shower head and hose on porch as well.

On the oceanfront, you can’t get any closer to the beach. Less than a mile from the Pier and all the downtown shopping and restaurants, the location is PRIME. On the prestigious S-Curve, we have low car traffic and the best access to all the greatness of Surf City. Walk to donuts and coffee in the morning or some afternoon ice cream and shopping - this is a great place on the Island! Less than 3 miles to Publix, Walmart, CVS and less than 1 mile to the local grocery store - we hope this is a place you come and don’t have to leave.

We created this house not as a rental, but a place our family would want to be, so expect quality and excellence in everything about this house - furniture from Pottery Barn, Ballard, and West Elm. Mattresses are Nectar Plus, Casper, and Serta Perfect Sleeper. All toiletries are top of the line Beekman Products - Paraben and Cruelty Free. The garage feature a washer and dryer. We have all your needs for a great beach day with Tommy Bahama Beach Chairs, toys, games, and beach towels. We also have a ping pong table, corn hole, and a grill in the garage!

We think Friday to Friday is the way to vacation on the island. Skip the crazy Saturday traffic & wild grocery store lines and settle in Friday afternoon. Please see cancellation policy below. As an oceanfront home, we STRONGLY recommend travel insurance as Hurricane Season runs June-November. We are so passionate about Travel Insurance that if you send us proof of purchase at the end of a 7-day stay, we will refund you $100. This is protection for both of us that we hope we don’t have to use.
We are firm on our no pet policy as a guarantee to our family’s sensitivities and guarantee to guests of a pet/allergen free home!
* We have a security camera facing the Driveway that we use when the house is empty for security.

This house isn't big but it feels big because of the open concept, large windows, minimalist decor. The decor is a Pottery Barn catalog - light with cozy furniture. Decor is 10/5 stars. It's also stocked with everything you need - games, books, towels, bedding, beach towels, beach toys.
The house is right on the beach. The beach is pristine. The sand is soft and light and clean. The only ocean detritus that washes up are shells and an occasional piece of sea kelp. People who use the beach (residents and day visitors) are also clean and tidy so no seagulls! The beach is busy but it's not crowded & we never felt like we were fighting for space. Beach visitors were respectful of each other's personal space. The best part, no one was blaring music. It's a busy but quiet beach.
The owners were responsive and kind. We had 1 day when the WiFi went out and after contacting Emily, she had it back up and running within 15 mins. Otherwise, no issues.
The only downside is that to reach the restaurants, etc you have to walk on a narrow road with cars and no sidewalks. It isn't a quaint stroll. But that's not a house issue, that's an island issue.
Overall, if you want a relaxing turnkey beach vacation, this is it.

I cant say enough good things about our stay at this house in Surf City. 5 star hotels dont have the level of care and attention that the hosts paid to this house. It is in great shape, has an amazing view, beautifully decorated, the list goes on. Out of all my stays in rental properties this was the best. I highly highly recommend this property.

This house is so charming! They have thought of everything. Super easy to live in and off the beach. The porch is the main feature. We spent hours and hours watching the waves roll in and our family playing. The host is super responsive and so easy to deal with! Book this one quick. It won't last. We will be back.

I grew up going to Topsail but always stayed on the sound side; so, after a long hiatus, I decided to bring my husband, two toddlers, brother, mom, and in-laws back to the island for a week. This house was perfect for all of us -- it was spacious, allowed for easy access to the beach for the littles and an amazing, covered porch for the grandparents. Emily and her family had everything ready for us upon arrival and the guidebook was so helpful! Check in and communication were super easy. Looking forward to more summers at this lovely home.

family gathering space. Updated kitchen and bathrooms plus another family living space, kitchen, bedroom and bath on the lower level. Spectacular location with beautiful sunrises. Emily was very responsive to any questions or issue and a pleasure to deal with. We would definitely want to stay here again.

Fun, Flawless and Fabulous
Our family had the pleasure of staying in the beautiful Lifesaver Beach House and were impressed by not only the fantastic condition of the home, but also the amazing views. From checkin to checkout everything was flawless. Being steps from the ocean made our stay so much easier and more relaxing. The wonderful hosts provide everything you need and are so attentive. Emily checked in with us several times just to make sure we were happy and enjoying our stay. We rented bikes (very reasonably priced) and our teens agreed it was fun to be able to bike to lunch, ice cream, sunset, pier, dinner, etc. We love the location of this home because it is direct oceanfront, away from any busy roads, yet close to everything. If you are looking for a fabulous experience from beginning to end, make sure to stay at Lifesaver Beach House. You will not be disappointed!

Graduation Celebration
We booked a week to celebrate our oldest son's college graduation & our youngest son's high school graduation. We allowed them to each invite friends. Everything about this place was awesome and first rate! We had all the 18-to-19-year old's staying in the lower level & the older ones 21 to 22 with us on the main level. The location on the beach is the best. The views from the covered porch and main upper living area were like being on the beach and the access was just up and down one set of stairs. We ended up with 10 people & the main living & eating areas never felt crowded. Great design & layout! Nice quiet location & very uncrowded beach area. Hosts were great, everything was virtually brand new & supper clean. Fully equipped as advertised down to the beach chairs & towels. The boys loved the ping pong table! On the few occasions that we went out, we enjoyed the places that we went to and ate. Can't say enough good things about this house & the beach community that it is in. One of our best beach vacations ever!

The kitchen had everything we needed and our family was able to spread out comfortably between the upstairs and the downstairs. The access to the beach is unbeatable (our very elderly grandparents had some trouble traversing the bottom of the stairs there but really to be expected). The location of the place was also perfect, easily walkable or driveable to anything in surf city proper! Overall we loved our stay and would come back in a heartbeat.

Beach & bath towels, shampoos/soap/conditioner, linens, TP, paper towels, beach chairs, toys, etc etc. you can tell the owners just love topsail and want you to love it too! Kitchen equipment was super nice and clean. Beds were comfy. We were a family of 10, 6 adults (3 couples) two 4 yr olds and a baby. The location was awesome, you could walk everywhere and can’t beat the deck! Grilled almost every night and loved the ping pong table. Host was SUPER nice and easy to communicate with. Really, lovely property.

Awesome Beach Vacation!
This houses had it all! Emily and family thought of EVERYTHING! From the moment you walked in you knew you were in for a treat. From the wall to wall windows with endless views of the ocean, the well stocked kitchen, all the beach gear you would ever need and they even had your toiletries in the bathrooms! Being steps from the ocean made our beach vacation easy! We had 6 teens with us and they never ran out of things to do- biking, ocean kayaking, ping pong, just hanging out on the deck, walks on the beach- they stayed busy all week. You will not be disappointed with a stay at Lifesaver in Surf City. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!

Great little house right ON the beach. Like high tide is 30 feet from the steps on the beach. Nice deck with deck chairs, and sunny and shady spots. This house has lots of beach chairs, and all the boogie boards and beach toys you could want. All toys and stuff is neatly labeled and organized in the garage. Also in the garage is a ping pong table in good condition, which we enjoyed the heck out of! The kitchen has a great supply of utensils, plates, dishes, pots and pans, and serving plates. It could use some sharper knives, but I think that’s true of every beach house. Hosts provided soap, paper, coffee filters, towels, everything you don’t want to have to bring. The house is not big, but it was fine for our large group. Renovated this year it looks like, everything is clean and in good shape.

Many of the neighboring beach houses had "full sun" porches which meant they had to haul tents and chairs to the beach to create shade. This house provides you both options and maximized our ability to stay outside all day.

In addition to a great renovation, what sets this place apart is the owners. They do a lot of the little things that make it easier on the renter. They provided beach towels, paper products, dish and laundry detergent. They also provided a booklet of recommended restaurants and activities, a Kanban board to track your progress and a welcome gift. Our family had a great time and we would both highly recommend this property and return for another visit.

The Lifesaver is a home that’s in pristine condition and every amenity that you could possibly need has been thought of and provided in advance. If I had read my guidebook more thoroughly there are countless items I could have left at home. The location is perfect, we were looking for a fairly quiet, peaceful vibe, but in easy walking or driving distance to restaurants and shops. The bedding was so comfortable I found myself looking for tags so I could place an order when I get back to Wisconsin…needless to say, I slept like a baby. I can’t say enough about the attention to detail and cleanliness of this property. There’s an excellent selection of cookware, crockpot, silverware laundry soap, spices, chargers for electronic devices and so forth. II sent an email to our host when I couldn’t locate CNN on the TV and the response was prompt. We had an issue with our air conditioner which had been newly installed and the response was immediate. A repair person came and replaced a coiled and he stayed to insure it was cooling properly before leaving. During the course of this situation, our host was in contact with us multiple times to insure everything was going according to plan and graciously provided dinner for our family for the inconvenience. There was an excellent selection of beach toys, chairs, umbrella and I particularly enjoyed beating my husband and children at ping pong. We’ve found our happily place at the beach and even my husband wants to book for next summer. If you are considering the Lifesaver, you can’t go wrong with this property, it’s all that the hosts say it is and more.
