The house is great as far as space and rooms, having 2 decks is a nice bonus! Kitchen was well stocked. Bedding and towels being onsite was really nice. However, the house needs a lot of work. Repairs and updates are way behind and truly takes away from the enjoyment of the home.

The one sticking point for everyone that spent the week. This house needs lots of very basic maintenance. About 25% of the deck boards are loose or not even attached on the second-floor deck and are no doubt a safety hazard. We didn’t use the right side of the upper deck the entire time we were there because we were fearful someone would fall through. Many parts of the deck are either in need of repair or should be fixed. If you have kids, they will get some good-sized splinters at some point. Because of that fear, no one walked on any of the decks without flip-flops. The outside shower is missing the cold knob, so you can't take a shower because you can only control the hot water. The bunk bedroom had a ceiling fan, but they removed the blades because someone probably would hit their head on the upper deck bed. They didn’t even bother to remove the motor and just left it, so the room got hot with the door closed. All the window screens on the second floor have large holes, so even if you wanted to open the windows to hear the ocean, you can’t because bugs will get in. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you needed to cook, which was nice, including a four-slice toaster, electric griddle, and lots of pots and pans. In the main bedroom, they had a TV and cable box but no HDMI cable from the box to the TV, so it was utterly useless. The bathrooms are functional, but the two showers not attached to the master bedroom are tiny and need updating. The master bathroom needed to be updated and had a hole in the shower enclosure where a handle used to be and must have been broken and removed. Now it's just a hole in the fiberglass enclosure. Again, not the end of the world, but the entire house felt like they hadn’t even tried to stay on top of ANY regular maintenance that the guests would benefit from. Finally, the exterior doors on the front of the house. The hardware was so rotted, and the door frames were so warped you couldn’t close them without a very hard tug. Even when closed, you can see outside because the seal is so poor, and hot, humid air is coming into the house 24x7. This led to the house AC always running to try and keep the house somewhat comfy. Overall, the house is on the beach, but the upkeep is something that we couldn’t overlook. We didn’t call the phone number to complain because much of this is not things I would find the renter should have to point out if the management company or owner cared even a little bit as they would see these issues and proactively address them in the gaps between renters. It felt like they just did enough to keep making money renter after renter. Someone will get hurt on the deck at some point, and the owner will no doubt wish they had bought a box of screws and spent an hour securing the wood boards on the deck. Try a little more, and this house would be much better. This home is perfect for those who love easy access directly to the beach with fantastic views from the first and half of the second-floor deck. If you have kids and are tired of humping all the chairs, umbrellas, and coolers to and from the beach, this home makes all that so much easier. Just walk 100 yards to the house and keep an eye on all your stuff while you eat lunch or take a quick bathroom break. The home offers plenty of parking and is a one or two-block walk to the local restaurants and ice cream.

Breezy Shores was perfect for our group of 6 adults. Both decks are beach-front with great views and shade. A few steps gets you to the wide beach. This location on the island (near the bridge) offers walking distance to several restaurants and shops (Castaways is our favorite). The house was clean and had everything we needed (bring your hairdryer and beach chairs). AC and hot water work great. The only minuses are if you are fussy about finishes -- some cabinets are tired, for example. I still rate this home 5 stars and would return if I have the opportunity.

When I pay this much for a vacation home, I expect a much nicer kept house. I must say the location and views are amazing. You are in walking distance to restaurants and ice cream. However, the house is not maintained and needs a lot of work. The window blinds were all broken, don’t bother using the dishwasher because I just had to hand wash everything that came out if it. Some of the kitchen cabinet pulls were either broken or missing. The property lists an outside shower, yet know one I new would/could use it. Some of the decking needs to be replaced. The bedrooms are small and the bathrooms are not ideal. I would not recommend this property.

When we arrived at the property we were disappointed in how the place was not kept up. Lights were rusted. Light bulbs were out. No pots or pans were able to be used for cooking. The bedrooms were extremely small. And everyone basically had to share 1 small bathroom with an extremely small shower. The second bathroom/shower was on the top floor next to the kitchen. The communication was lovely with the property manager and they took care of what they could for us during our stay to make it nicer and we were very appreciative of that.

This is an older house but was very clean. The location was wonderful, right on the beach and walking distance to 3 restaurants, the candy shop and ice cream stand! There were some floor boards on the upper balcony that need to be replaced.

We absolutely loved the location of this home. Close to the bridge and restaurants and private beach access. The home is older and definitely has a "lived in" atmosphere but we enjoyed our stay very much. The layout was great for our family of 6, we never felt cramped. The view from the upper deck can not be beat! The kitchen was well equipped with everything the average cook needs. The stairs are pretty steep which could promote a problem for someone who has difficulty with stairs. Towels and linens were provided. We needed to purchase napkins, tissues and trash bags. The ice maker was not working at the time of our rental and there were no ice cube trays, but we just bought ice. There is a bar area with a separate mini fridge, which was also nice. They had lots of jigsaw puzzles and games available. Holden Beach is a great place to vacation. It is a pretty quiet place, not at all commercial. The shelling was awesome. We also went crabbing, body surfing and even took a guided kayak tour. Definitely recommend. We would stay here again.
