With its stable door and traditional, honey-coloured Cotswold stone exterior, this cottage offers a quintessential countryside escape. The interiors bring a truly old-world, rustic vibe, with dark wooden beams and exposed stone walls to welcome you into the living space. A wood-burning stove sits proudly in its alcove, which will be the perfect accompaniment to a warm cup of Earl Grey as you relax on the sofa. After exploring every character-filled inch of the interiors – think winding stairs, sloped ceilings, timber beams, and original stone steps – the outdoors offer yet more delights. Sit under the parasol in your private garden on a balmy afternoon, and take in the scents of flowers in bloom. This barbecue-ready spot is perfect for a lunchtime grill and a few glasses of English sparkling wine. Or if you’re more into the idea of a pint of ale and a traditional roast dinner, the nearest pub is just a three-minute walk. Home truths: *The garden is enclosed for privacy *Your host provides a starter supply of wood for the stove, but you need to bring your own barbecue charcoal and clean it after use *The home is set over three floors, so you'll need to be able to climb stairs for access – low ceilings, uneven floors, steep stairs, and winding stairs may pose problems *There's a writing desk which can be used as a workspace *The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound-only basis *Free on-street parking is available (or there are paid, public car parks nearby if there's not a space) *Your host can provide a travel cot and high chair, but please bring your own linen *Mobile reception varies, but it's usually stronger outside than indoors
