Lovely to look at, less to stay

The site is beautiful, but that is what gets all the attention from management. The room, not so much. The bed was comfortable. There is a bedside light. Wifi was good. AC works. There is a 20 gal. filtered water dispenser in the room. What Mexican staff I could find were sweet. The breakfast was plentiful, if slowly served. The place is walkable to the major attractions.

The room is tired. No chair, or table apart from the nightstands. Linens and towels are old. No towel rack in the sink area. Dirty bath mat. Hot water was hard to get and a trickle when it arrived. The outside light was burned out. No housekeeping, but a card requesting a tip was on the nightstand. In Mexico one is asked not to flush any toilet paper. The bin with used toilet paper was not emptied until I asked after the second night (I stayed 3). That should have happened once or twice a day. Room needs fresh paint. There appears to be a newer toilet installed, but the tank is a different size and management didn't bother to paint the wall behind it before installing. There was rarely someone behind the desk after check in. The owners are not Mexican. They are European and appear to have a pipeline of guests from their own country with whom they converse. Others, not so much. The son of the owners, a man I guessed to be in his 20s, appeared to be entertaining a group of friends during the time I was there. They were the center of attention of staff and were the dominant presence on site. Being in the dining area when they were present was like being at a private gathering without an invitation. The price was too high considering the conditions and prevailing rates in the area. Management needs to do much more regular maintenance to bring this place up to a standard worthy of the price.

Superb

Love the hotel concept: once you enter the property from a dusty road, you find yourself in jungles! This helps to escape from exhausting heat, as a bonus - there is also a picturesque pool. You will get either a separate house or a semi-detached house - it’s spacious, plain inside but clean. Breakfast was surprisingly good: first you get a fruit plate, basket of fresh bread, and several great options of “main courses” to choose.

There are several Wi-Fi networks with different passwords - that was inconvenient. Slow service at breakfast.

stay was okay but I won’t return

the clothing optional pool and lush vegetation and location for center of town as there is no restaurant so you must walk back after dinner in the dark. breakfast was great. internet was ok. overall the place is in transition with a new owner but this was my second visit so I can compare and it has a ways to improve

no maid service. first room we were shown had no window curtains but the solution was an even better and bigger space. very minimal furniture. couch outside had a lot of gecko poo so not really clean outside or inside either. we ran out of toilet paper but with no room service did not get replenished

If you are looking for a pleasant, comfortable escape from typical places to stay, this is it.

This place was an unexpected delight. The landscaping and pool were unique. The cost to stay there was very affordable and a good deal for the setting that we got. We plan to stay longer next time we go back!

Exceptional

This is paradise on earth. The garden is lovely, with an abundance of plants and decorations. The rooms are exquisitely designed and decorated. You wake up to the singing of birds and a breeze through the screens. Amazingly beautiful bathroom. Excellent breakfast and service.

Exceptional

The hotel is really nice and done with a lot of ice local Mayan touch. It has lovely vibe and it is nice and cool during the hot days. It is super close to the center and in the same time is very quiet and one can rest nicely. The breakfast was very nice and everyone is super lovely from the personnel, trying to assist you in every way possible.

oasis to explore all the sites

incredible oasis allowing you to explore Izamal. Lovely helpful hosts curating a real community and beautiful place. delicious breakfast and relaxing pool. clean and soft sheets.

the pillows were very hard so if you’re sensitive that could be a factor. lots of small bugs etc. in the room. not a huge issue but worth noting.

Super comfortable stay, such a nice garden area to chill out and relax. Lots of possibilities here: yoga, Massage, having dinner/lunch but you must book in advance, the pool area, walking to the sunrise to the pyramid

as you enter this place you are sorroundend by colorful plants everywhere and smiling people. An other world... Our room was painted in jungle style...unique! You can find every comfort (swimming pool and amacas!) with respect to nature. Breakfast Continental fruits pancakes eggs... Really recommended. Andrea

Jungle paradise in the city of Izamal

Once you had found the location you opened the door and were astonished by the plants and green all around you. My kids loved the pool which was done nicely with underwater forms like a cenote. It also had hammocks there and we were the only guests. Lovely! The room was rather simple but spacious. Breakfast was ok, but nothing special. Our hosts also spoke German and gave us good advice on where to find a special secret cenote. It was indeed great (and tough to find)

We arrived with our family later than anticipated and it was already dark. Due to that the location was hard to find. The room was spacious, but also had quite a few mosquitos in there. Wifi didn't work very good.

really little paradise

Absolutely unexpected place in the city. Quiet beautiful garden with cottages and a swimming pool reminiscent of the cenote. Tasty breakfast. Friendly owner from Germany, who longs for a quiet and happy life like us :-) This place can really be called a "little paradise". Ambient and meditative place. The center of Izamal is a 5-minute walk away.

The house could have better air conditioning and a fridge.

It is a very nice place, the gardens and the pool are very nice. The room was quiet and the breakfast was very good!

The water in the shower was extremely hot in the first few minutes and then it turned cold.

We only stayed over night so we were not able to take in all the amenities that were available. But the room was large, the grounds were amazingly beautiful, and breakfast was very nice and filling,.

Luggage stolen, strange toilet and shower experience - would not like to repeat

Breakfast was good and filling, bed was comfortable, otherwise - not a good experience.

First two minutes in the hotel, my luggage got stolen, it was left two minutes near the car in the very "calm and safe" little street. Lots of people around but nobody saw anything. Hotel is run by nice German new hosts, but they should less concentrate on having yogas and good time with their buddies and more on work on making rooms fit for the guests. First time I saw that toilet was just behind small wall in the open space, no privacy at all, showering was impossible because you just cannot get the right temperature and water pressure is lame and one moment is scalding hot, next its cold. Sound insulation is non existing so don't expect calm sleep, we got dog howling all the night and it looked like it is next to the bed. Not an experience I would like to repeat. Also photos looks nice and garden is nice but there is renovations going on, so expext builders walking all over the place.
