Disappointed
The price was reasonable but for the same rate, there are hostels in the Gold Zone and downtown, with restaurants and a beach very close by. The rooftop sitting area is nice if you have free time to just hang out. I had a reservation for a week but between the club noise next door and the isolated location, I moved to a different place downtown that worked out better for me. He did refund me for the unused days but made me feel guilty for making him lose his "commission".
The location is far from most things. You have to take a bus to get anywhere. There's not much nearby to do, etc. Ironically there was one club across the street though, but they played music until 2am. Could have been due to Carnaval, or just a weekend thing. There were 4 double and triple bunks in a very small room, all pushed next to each other with no space in between, separated with only a curtain. You move the curtain and you're on the next person's mattress. I felt that was way too many in such a small space and definitely way too close. No one really talked to each other and there weren't any activities offered, bike rentals, city tours, etc that are common in most hostels. No meal options or get-togethers, which imo is what makes hostels fun. I was there during Carnaval and thought there were would be activities set up for that at least. I ended up moving to a different place that worked better for me.

I really loved the terrace and Palapa area on top. at night I would put on the lights and do work with a nice breeze.
it’s a little tiny, but still super grateful it even exists. not a lot of Hostels in Mazatlán

Superb
The hostel has done an excellent job with the amenities and facilities. the bathrooms and showers are some of the best I’ve seen in a Mexican hostel. the rooftop terrace has a good vibe. the owner/operator has an interesting story.
the neighborhood around it is a little bland. in the summertime it gets super hot and beach access is preferred.
