The space
Our 120 plus year old home is a great mix of old and new. You'll be able to feel the history as you walk across the occasional creaky original floor board and look out at the stunning views.
You'll enter the house on the second floor and will be welcomed into the eat in kitchen, filled with everything you need to prepare a great meal. You'll then find the comfy living room where there is plenty of sitting room for the whole group to enjoy the amazing city views, lounge in front of the TV or play a board game!
This floor also has a spacious balcony overlooking the city with twinkle lights above. This is our favorite area to lounge, dine and BBQ.
Note: there is a queen sized blow-up mattress available to accommodate 2 extra guests. There are extra sheets, comforter and towels provided.
Upstairs you'll find the primary bedroom loft with a queen size bed, full bathroom, picture window, walk-in closet and laundry room. We ask that our guests be mindful that our charming old house has low & sloping ceilings upstairs.
Downstairs the second bedroom has a comfy full sized bed. At the end of the hall you'll find an office space and the full bathroom. Please be aware of the 6' ceilings in the bathroom.
The four seasons room is both a serene private workspace and a comfy spot to sit and enjoy the views of the city and the birds in the garden. This room connects to the 3-tiered fenced in backyard. We welcome up to 2 well behaved dogs with a $150 Pet Fee per dog.
Perfect for couples, friends & Fido, so don't be surprised if you find a dog hair or two.

Guests have access to the entire 1300 sqft home and fenced in back yard.
Other things to note
Parking: There is ONE free spot available directly outside the home, it is marked with white paint. There is additional free parking for further up the hill.
Mobility: Our historic home has many sloped and low ceilings (6' in downstairs bathroom) along with steep stairs inside and out. We kindly ask that our guests be mindful moving about!
Neighborhood: Our home is located on a diverse street in urban East Allegheny. It is walkable to many restaurants, coffee shops, parks and stadiums with a city feel. We have great neighbors and enjoy being close to the best of Pittsburgh. If you have any questions about the area, don't hesitate to reach out!
Families with small children: We would love to welcome your stay, however we want to make sure you’re aware that there are many steep steps around the home and back yard. Great house just outside of downtown. Well maintained and stocked. Million dollar view of the city on the back deck, which is main reason we booked, and would book this place again. Surrounding neighborhood is a little rough, but we had no issues or concerns. Walked to local coffee shop one morning. Easy access to interstate to get around town quickly. Hosts were great, checked on us after first night. Loved the visit and stay.

This is a truly lovely property with a spectacular view!!! The home is so charming and clearly well taken care of. We had a wonderful time in Pittsburgh and would stay here again. The owner was very quick to respond which is always appreciated.

Property great location to many local attractions! Totally enjoyed the view from the balcony! Not use to the lower ceilings in basement, bit "congested", but that's just us! Inside cleanliness good. Overall happy with pick!

We really enjoyed our time here. Great location - we were able to walk to the baseball game. Excellent views.
Parking is on a steep hill - not a problem but would have been nice to know before arriving in the middle of the night.
Thank you so much!

We came to Pittsburgh for a family vacation over spring break. The house worked out great for being able to walk/drive to attractions but still have a quieter space to come back to relax. The host was very responsive with checking instructions and questions. We appreciated having an assigned parking space and loved walking to the neighbor coffee shop for our morning coffee. The view of downtown from the deck and sunroom were amazing and a nice way to wind down at the end of a busy tourist day. Would highly recommend!

This house is perfect for couples/ a family. It exceeded our expectations. The enclosed porch had a heater and was perfect for the cold weather and the open porch with the grill would be amazing in the warmer weather! There is a super cute bar within walking distance and the view was amazing. Overall great vibe!!

We visited the city to attend a volleyball tournament that our son was in. The property was close to the convention center and very convenient.

This property was perfect for us! The 3 floors allowed us to have space from each other. The view of the city was awesome! Additionally, we walked everywhere! Walked to the T to go to the Penguins game (we won!) walked to the strip for my favorite coffee and walked to the the Steelers game (we won!). Check-in was super easy and the hosts were very accommodating to our scheduling needs! Definitely a great place!!!!

We stayed for the weekend while visiting my daughter who is a freshman at Pitt. The house was so adorable and in a great, convenient location. Easy to get to campus and the football game. Communication with property owner was great and the views from the deck were amazing! Lovely home.

We were in town for a national taekwondo tournament. Very convenient as it was only a 3 minute drive over to the convention center. We really enjoyed the views as well as the space it provided. None of us felt cramped as you do in a hotel room. The host was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions prior to arrival.
She also checked in to see how our stay was going which was nice. I would give this property 9/10

The view was amazing. One note, with the rain that is inevitable in Pittsburgh, it would have been nice to have an unbrella or awning on the main floor balcony to protect one from the rain if they wanted to still enjoy being out there.
We had an amazing time. Thank you.

My family was visiting for a wedding and Vista Ave was the perfect home base for our crew. The house itself was so comfortable and the view of downtown was incredible. The location made travel and running around all weekend so easy. Our hosts made our visit very enjoyable - we'll be back!

Overall nice property, very good communication from the owner. Really only 2 bedrooms, but lots of space. Extremely hot the first day of our stay, would have been nice if the air was on upon arrival. It took all day to cool off. Overall positive experience and fun trip! Go Pirates and Steelers!

Our group of 4 was in town to celebrate a 50th birthday, filled with multiple Pirates games and exploring the city. This property is lovely, very clean, and has amazing views. Easy walk to the stadiums and quick ride to downtown. Genevieve is an amazing host and extremely communicative. We would definitely stay here again.

Never having visited Pittsburgh before, we picked Skyline Sanctuary and found it fully met our needs. It was reasonably priced and offered enough space for our group to spread out. It's located walking distance to many places we wanted to visit.
Also had enough parking for our vehicles. Genevieve made us feel really welcome. She shared lots of helpful information before we arrived. There were tons of homey touches. Beds were comfortable. And the deck overlooking the city is awesome. We even got lucky enough to see a fireworks display for Pitt's homecoming.

This property is an absolute disaster. We walked in to a washing machine full of dirty towels, empty hand soap containers in the bathrooms that turned out to be full of mold and chunks of gunk, broken railings on the balcony that could easily allow a child to fall thru to the patio 15’ below, the electronic front door lock with not unlocking or refusing to lock because of ‘deadbolt issues’, the neighbors parking in the properties designated spot AND the pvc plumbing under the kitchen sink separating and flooding the kitchen with water and waste. Oh and the property is listed a 3 bedroom when it’s actually 2 with an available air mattress. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.

We came to Pittsburgh for our anniversary getaway., hadn't been in years and this location was perfect. It's quite unique, having been built in the 1900's and on an angle. Masters of engineering these early settlers.
Anyway, our stay was very enjoyable and the vista was well worthy of our decision. The house was very clean and had all the right tools for cooking and relaxing. The downstairs porch/office was perfect. I am an early riser so I didn't have to disturb my hubby. The separate cooling units handled the heat we had this week, very well. It was 92 on Thurs. but the house was perfectly comfortable, in all areas.
The location made it easy to get almost anywhere we wanted to go within 20 minutes. There is a lot of construction going on, in Pitt, but it was still fine. We spent our mornings on the deck off the living room and our evenings as well. The lights of the city our wonderful. We also had a spectacular rainbow on Thurs. after a shower that was incredible. Would definitely stay again when we come back.
The only downside would be the porch has no shade capability in the middle of the day when it can be warm. Not sure if there is a solution but it bears some thinking. Not that it would deter us from staying.
Our host Genevieve was wonderful and responded almost immediately to any questions we had. If you're thinking of staying in Pittsburgh, give this property a try. I think you'll be very happy with your choice.

Charming Craftsman's House overlooking skyline. The view is amazing!! The interior of the house is as nice as pictured on website. Bedrooms on separate floors which provided privacy for adult children. House was very clean and included everything needed for a long weekend stay. The Strip District, Incline, Bakery Square, and Station Square all easily drivable from location. Communication with the owner was excellant!

Had a great time! Everything you could need was provided for your comfort at this home for a getaway. Great communication with host.
