Spacious and comfortable.
A bit of distance from city centre but if you are ready to walk to tram station for less than 8min, should no problem. Shopping street and market is not far away as well.

Great Area of town. Hotel room very dirty

Very nice terrasse on the water side

Very nice comfortable place to stay on the canal with good food & drinks, good people & boat watching, very walkable to other dining & bar options.

lovely setting on the canal. quiet Japanese garden in the front. friendly and welcoming staff. superb dining.
4.3
beautiful cozy hotel on water

Staff were very polite and accommodating. The bicycle rental worked out great as bikes are very much needed to get seeing the city. We enjoyed our stay very much.
4.3
Great stay. Minor issue with booked room upon check-in but staff quickly sorted it out. Located in a quiet area of the city with easy access to transportation as you head into the city centre for the day. Would stay again.

Stayed an extra night in Apollo after our 10-day BeNeLux tour. Located in a quieter part of AMS with easy access to the tram stop. Hotel is quite old as one can see in the elevator. Shower area is quite small. Staff very helpful.
4.3
Great hotel with fabulous breakfast! Nice views of the canals. A little away from the action but that was good.

This is a beautiful hotel make no mistake about it. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is really great. The dinner menu is OK. What’s a little weird is I asked for a room with two beds and I basically got a room with two twin beds next to each other like right next to each other, they don’t have the concept of separate beds that are far apart in one room or even suites with a bed in one room and a bed and another maybe it’s a European thing? I’m also not a fan of the fake plants in the hallway in the lobby

Lovely location and location

We were on a group tour and the breakfast was always included. We decided to add an extra day. When we went down to breakfast we were told that is was an additional 28 euro charge per person. For what we paid for the extra night it should have been included.

Great location next to the Eiffel Tower and close to the Metro. We stayed five nights. Staff was very helpful in answering questions. We had a "garden view" and had to walk outside to see the tower. Carpet in room was old but the room was spacious and bathtub was deep albeit short. Overall, a good experience but very pricy - perhaps because we booked through a third party.
4.3
The Apollo was a really beautiful hotel with friendly and professional staff, a super comfortable bed, and a spacious room with modern furnishings. I also really enjoyed the location.
4.3
Room was perfect and staff was amazingly friendly!

I booked this hotel for my son’s 21st birthday. The hotel is stunning, the staff were amazing even arranging balloons and desert in his room as a surprise for his birthday. The hotel was in walking distance of transport links to the central and situated in a quiet area. Would highly recommended. 😄

Been 22 days and my deposit not refunded

Excellent location, the hotel is from the 60s but recently renovated. The room was good size, clean with a very big bed. we enjoyed the hotel cocktail bar as well as breakfast which you can order the day before with a decent discount.

Great place and not to far away from "town" Recomended!

Everything was cool but you should advertise that this hotel requires a deposit.

The view from our room was fantastic, the staff was amazing!! Never met a true caring hotel staff ever. And i will never forget their birthday surprise for my daughter💕
4.3
This hotel was a recommendation from a friend and on a 3 city tour between Paris, London, and Amsterdam, this was the worst hotel. I stayed with my mother in a room with double beds and it was canal facing, but the view was nothing special since I think we were on the 2nd floor. The paint was peeling in the bathroom and dropping onto things like the bath towels. Also the lighting in our room was very poor. It was one of those bathrooms where the shower blends into the toilet area and there is no separation - terrible design. It is apparently close to the artsy areas but not close to the center. The front desk staff always looked bothered when you approached. Would not recommend this property.
4.3
The staff was amazing, we were able to check in early. The hotel is centrally licated and could walk to most of Amsterdam's attractions.
4.3
very good service.
4.3
Very nice hotel. We were told our room was upgraded. We stayed on the first floor. It was a nice room, really clean and a nice bathroom and shower. The room was still quite small. Excellent service. We had food delivered one night which was allowed. We also used the concierge to store our bags before leaving. They offer a 5 euro voucher to use in 'The Living Room' café/restaurant, for every day you don't get your room serviced so you put a tag on your door for the day. You can't use this voucher on room service though, you have to be in the café/restaurant to use it. Its a 13 minute walk to the nearest tram into town. Good when it's dry, not so much when it's raining.
4.3
Great stay at a very nice hotel. Would have been perfect if it wasn’t for missing on the room service which took over an hour to get after calling twice and checking.
4.3
Great property. A little out of the way from central Amsterdam area but suited my needs.
4.3
Great choice!

Apollo has been my favorite place in Amsterdam for the past 10 years or so. Recently, it has become very expensive, just like everything else, so I can't complain. When it comes to the price, it's always worth paying more to stay in a canal view room, but it's a bit of a lottery, as rooms with a very limited view of the canal are still considered canal view.
Another issue is the city tax, which is charged during check-in, but sometimes they also ask for it during check-out, so make sure to get a receipt if you pay the tax during check-in. Also, check your credit card statement to see if you've received the security deposit back. If not, you may need to make a call.
During my 5-night stay when it was very hot, the bedding was not changed, which is unusual for this hotel. The hotel doesn't have enough room service staff, so you might see one middle-aged lady responsible for cleaning an entire floor in just a few hours. Therefore, be kind to them and leave something nice or a tip in the room.
There are some low-quality fittings and fixtures, so be sure to report them when you check-in. If you don't feel safe, don't hesitate to change rooms. Enough with the negatives, let me tell you why I always go back to Apollo. The smell... this hotel smells amazing. As they say, love enters through the nose. The shoe cleaner opposite the elevators is essential after walking all day. The ice machine is a nod to the good old days. The staff is very friendly and polite, and lastly, there's t

The hotel is on a canal, 10 minutes walk from the museums quatre.

All in all a good stay. However, it is always surprising how poorly many hotels monitor the status of faucets and drains in bathrooms. In our room at the Apollo Hotel, for some reason the shower hose had been shortened so much that it only reached neck height. In addition, the mixer was worn out and thus impossible to adjust. These are features that the cleaning staff should monitor and ensure are addressed before any guest is affected. Equally surprising, however, was that no previous guest had complained about anything that was clearly not a new deficiency.
While the hotel is outside the center of Amsterdam, it is located in a very nice area with many good restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The nearest tram stop is within a ten-minute walk.
I can definitely recommend the hotel despite the mixer issue as the staff were very responsive to complaints and the issue was quickly rectified.

We just had a wonderful weekend stay at Apollo Hotel and loved quieter area overlooking canal, yet 30 minute walk to everything we wanted to see. Very comfy beds, great breakfast and friendly staff.
4.3
Unfriendly staff. Equipments in poor shape and nonfunctional. Too expensive for the service provided.
4.3
Really nice hotel. Very friendly people
4.3
We booked a king size bed. Two twin beds pushed together is not a king size bed
4.3
We were thoroughly disappointed by the housekeeping. No clean sheets during our 5 nights stay, hardly any attempt to vacuum. No extra towels when we asked. My husband worked in the hotelroom for 2 days but he left when housekeeping came and asked for certain things and were then not left. The fact that we were in no way compensated by the hotel management was beyond comprehension. A 'sorry about that' at check out and 'we will discuss with housekeeping' was all. And we paid up to 300 euros per night.
The positives of the hotel however are plentiful. Great location. Amsterdam South is wonderfully quiet and has a great vibe. Breakfast was great as is the Harbour club restaurant. The rooms spacious, light (we had a view of the canal) and cool during the heat.
Too bad we got so disappointed by the service, otherwise we would have booked again in the future.

Lovely hotel overlooking the canals!
