Gates/Doors on the main entrance are blocked, so to check-in you need to enter from the back (no email or instructions are sent to you about it…). Costs for food and services are shamelessly pricey - get ready to be overcharged with hidden and random fees. Oh and beware outside, there are homeless people and others in difficult situations sleeping just around the hotel / park.

Hotel was nice if we only stayed inside. The neighborhood has gone down. City needs to spruce up the neighborhood so that the hotel can be worth it's room cost.

Gorgeous hotel. Wonderful restaurant for breakfast. Wish we knew there was full coffee in the lobby instead of ordering room service. Love the security feature of the elevator room key. Perfect location if you want to walk around to any event including Petco. This is only a lovely review of the hotel itself. The homeless issue and disgusting smell of pee all over DT SD is a whole other story. Very sad to see another beautiful california city going downhill.

Best staff and superb rooms and service. Trolley train and bus within 5 minute walk. It’s in downtoen so many are closeby, only downside is some homeless. Feels safe anyway.

Very spacious rooms, hallways, lobby. Nice touches with free newspapers, chocs some evenings, refreshing drinks one day, coffee/tea. Very professional staff. Good location to what I wanted. Can take bus direct too and from airport.

The hotel doesn't have free wifi, the in-room dinning is horrible, the views for the rooms are not city views i paid for a city view and was placed on the 4th fl facing an abandoned building.

Love this hotel...so much history. The decore, location and staff make this an excellent place to stay. Wish they had a pool...that is the only thing negative. This was our 5th stay and many more to come.

The property, the staff, the amenities were superb. We enjoyed our stay. The property is in the gaslamp district. Close to all of the good eateries, not too far from the bay. I would definitely recommend and plan to return.

Would not recommend for the price. Soaps and other toiletries were nice but the property seems dated and the elevators sounded like they would break. If you find antiquated buildings alluring this is the place for you!

Beautiful boutique hotel right in the heart of downtown San Diego - which means you take the good with the bad! Which means amazing customer service and front desk staff - surrounded by the homeless and crack heads of San Diego! The walk thru the gas lamp district was eventful north of market street! But that should not take away for the charm of this hotel - I would stay again! Just take a cab.

The Best part of the US Grant hotel was the friendly and helpful staff. Everyone treated me as if I was a most special guest. The folks at the concierge desk were very helpful in suggesting local restaurants. Each place gave us a unique dining experience.

I’m not sure what makes this part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection. The property’s lobby was nice, but that was the extent. Elevator buttons were missing/broken, rooms were older, the room was dusty everywhere you looked. Our fridge had not been cleaned from a previous guest and so there was a rotten smell in there when we opened it to put water in. Would not stay here again.

Everyone from valet to housekeepers very friendly. Only complaint was in the middle of the night got woke up by mopping against our exterior floor against door, was noisy.

Booked the US Grant as we wanted to stay closer to downtown - we also opted for a 5 star hotel hoping to enjoy an extra relaxing stay for the remainder of our vacation. The hotel itself was gorgeous and the service was amazing, however we were woken up at 7:00 AM to the sounds of a jackhammer. At around 3:00 AM a random alarm went off on our floor and the alarm went off for about 10 min - just a loud buzzing noise. We couldn’t figure out what caused it. The next night was equally noisy and we were glad to depart but disappointed that our last days of vacation were tainted by the excessive noise.

This was my second time staying here. The staff are incredibly friendly, rooms very nice, restaurant/bar great to have on site, coffee in the lobby in the morning, decent gym in the lower level, good walking distance from the Gaslight district and also the convention center.

The hotel claimed I was being upgraded. The upgrade turned out being to a room over an area on the street where they were working with a jack hammer all night long. I believe was put in this room because no one else would stay in it. The drapes in the room were ripped . Service in the empty dining room was terrible.

The U.S. Grant Hotel has a lot of history. Love cuz it’s walking distance to the convention center and Petco Stadium. There’s also lots of places to done at.
