This property is old and VERY tired. I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for a fancy resort-style holiday. Its location is amazing, but the facilities are very dated and in urgent need of refreshing to be able to claim to be a resort. I would honestly look at other smaller properties for a better experience.
The Staff are generally rude and not interested in their roles.
Don't let the photos fool you, it's not as nice as it looks. But the Beach and swimming are. Glad we only stayed 1 night

On arrival the front desk staff handed over our keys to what we thought was our room for our seven night stay. The next morning we were told to move rooms as they had given us an upgraded room as the room we should have been given was unavailable. We were told to repack our belongings and notify the desk who would move our belongings at a later time as our room was not available.
Very poor communication and they didn't seem to be bothered about the inconvenience it caused. This was disappointing as once repacked we did not have access to our belongings till much later in the day. This effectively robbed us of a day of our holiday.
Beware of the WI FI which is sub par. Front desk staff recommends a snap shot of the log in password is taken due to the WI FI frequently dropping out. Unfortunately the password only displays for a nanosecond making a snap shot impossible. More money disappearing into the cosmos.
Room had thin walls which required a call to the front desk for security to curb the party going on next door at midnight.

Lovely friendly staff, amazing snorkeling from the beach,
Beautiful keep grounds.

Property was on a gorgeous beach with great snorkeling. Staff was nice but property is pretty run down for the price. Food was very average so be sure to explore outside the resort. Liked the nightly entertainment.

A good place to base yourself while in Rarotonga. You have everything you need right on your doorstep.
Staff were friendly and accommodating but service can be a little slow at times. It wasn't a deal breaker however!

A quiet place to relax. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely beach, safe to swim.

Likes: beach was beautiful and swimmable with lots of colorful fish and coral. Good amount of lounge chairs for guests.
Dislikes: separated our families even though we bought the 4 interconnected suites, cranes on the beach doing beach construction was actually shortening the beach access and making it steeper, construction hazards near the restaurant bar, billiard tables in pretty bad shape, parking areas have lots of big potholes, tennis rackets had tattered grips that turned hands black.

Property location was beautiful on the beach. Staff very helpful and friendly. Only slight downfall was food was ok but not a stand out. However plenty options nearby for dinner and lunch. Highly recommend especially seemed to be very well catered for children.

Our check in time was scheduled for 3.00pm. On arrival the receptionist told us that our room was not ready and that we would need to wait.
The room because available at 4.00pm and was not what we had booked. Luckily a lovely young Fijian receptionist took care of us and ensured that we were compensated for the wait and the inconvenience. Good for families.

Overall was a nice stay, best snorkelling spot.
Room was basic but enough for what we required.
The restaurant really needs new management. Very slow service, our meals took an hour and the food was average - staff were friendly though.
The daily activities were a cool option to have, enjoyed the coconut show and the crab hunt.

Definitely not worth the money. Very understaffed and the breakfast was so disappointing. The first and only night we ordered from the restaurant took almost 2 hours to get our food and it wasn't nice at all. The resort toilets were disgusting and hardly ever cleaned! Unfortunately we won't be back.

Hi, please don't get me wrong i had a lovely time as a solo traveler however the hotel was understaffed not there though at all. My room had bugs everywhere, bed bugs too I've been biten heaps around my ankles, weird mould smell too my room number was 7518.
Staff where excellent but under pressure i felt sorry for them so management need to step up, i am in HR so i could see they need support. I hope they get it.
Thanks kirsty

Floor was still saturated from cleaning & room was full of insects on late afternoon check in. Dinner hot meals were served cold. Took 40 minutes to get 1x beer and 1x coke can during dinner, and we only got them because we went back to check with the bar staff. Breakfast ‘buffet’ (not complimentary, not cheap) - worse quality than a dodgy backpacker hostel where it would at least be free… fruit, cereal, and toast… was essentially empty for almost an hour before some slow restocking occurred. Wifi is extra charge and the access code is restricted to that specific device not the room number, you cannot even use it on both your own phone and iPad for example, minimum charge of NZ$20/5gb per device is ridiculous. Most of the staff were friendly and tried their best to help however they could which was the only good note. This places feels so so old and weathered; like no maintenance or minor renovations have occurred for 20 years. Considering the expensive prices they charge for everything, this place is pathetic overall. Honestly, stay literally anywhere except The Rarotongan for a better experience

Beautiful grounds . Two resturants for dining. Very nosey. New Zealanders let they children go crazy. Running, screaming and yelling. If you want some peace and quiet go somewhere else.

I don’t think this hotel was for me to big to many families and kids I like resort a little more intimate Hotel is our the outdated all tiki style

Property was quite old and could do with updating. Please note, wifi isn’t included here as it is with some other hotels. The property is more like a motel than a hotel in terms of accomodation. The lagoon is nice, but you can go without staying at the resort

The property needs an uplift. Our room fridge was faulty and leaking, the bunk bed was making a creaking noise every time you turn around so it was difficult to sleep. Felt the room was too small for 4 people but we managed. The staff was really good and helpful so didn't even want to complain. The staff made it a very pleasant holiday for us.

My now husband and I spent the last four days of our honeymoon at the rarotongan straight after staying at their sister resort, the private island in Aitutaki which was incredible! . We were not impressed at all. We weren’t greeted by any of the 3 staff in the lobby until we said hello and were told we had to wait for our room to be ready sometime in the next 7 hours. When we asked for beach towels we were told we should already have them and couldn’t receive any more. After discussing our situation we were handed towels. After returning these towels (not knowing you could only have two a day) the lady in the activities hut later said to us we couldn’t have more due to our allocation. Once 3pm hit we went to get our bags and weren’t offered any support for the three suitcases to our room which was 300meters away and up stairs. We had no do not disturb sign in our room, no pen to fill out a form which was no room cleaning for the next day to save environment. Our room then went without being cleaned for two days, only a new towel thrown on the bench and they left the door open to our room while we were out for the day. We paid $20 each for wifi which didn’t work in majority of the areas of the resort, one being our room which connected in and out. The food in the resort restaurant was great but we waited 1 and a half hours for food two nights in a row and lunch. Drinks were also delayed by 20 minutes. Tv in sports area didn’t play what they said would be on without being asked

The photos are really very strategic. Not representative of the resort.

Our family of 6 stayed for 8 night's. Cannot fault this place was absolutely amaziing. Service can not fault, our rooms were basic but so homely. Id only suggest the breakfast buffet needs a little more as it was too basic but all in all we would highly recommend to anyone to book here

The rooms are a little bit small look bigger in photos as the bathrooms are quite small as well as the room the staff are excellent facilities were good the food at dinner was excellent but waiting times were ridiculous 45 to 1 hr. the tropical breakfast needs to be reviewed no good if you have diabetes or are you I gluten free is all there was was toast and fruit universe cereal overall the place is nice.

found the hotel tired. Staff were ok. Some maybe past being in customer service but most staff were friendly. Captain Andy’s terrible so bad including the breakfast

I really enjoyed my stay.Loved the dining options ,the staff were wonderful.
I had breakfast included which was a tropical breakfast this was very convenient and gave me a good start to the day.I really enjoyed the Island night the meal was great and the dancers were brilliant.
Snorkelling out the front was just amazing really enjoyed.
I felt safe at the resort which is always a plus when your travelling alone.

Food was not fresh- buns for burgers were stale. They ran out of salads early on and never got new supplies in. Eating out was a lot cheaper and fresher. Room and pool was perfect

Kia orana. The buildings and rooms seemed a wee bit dated, but clean and everything was working. Staff, with one exception, has been very friendly and helpful and cheerful.

Enjoyed that if it rained you could go anywhere on the property without getting wet. Lots of things to do. Great layout and nice pool. Able to see lots of fish from the dining area.

Great for kids. Didn’t love the food but otherwise recommended for families and people who like to snorkel. The snorkelling out the front is unreal!

The hotel needs alot of upgrade, this rarotongan hotel is not lively, it needs to be the same hotel back in 2002.
This hotel was the best back then, my brother and his wife had their honeymoon there in 2002. And it was the best hotel ive visited as a local. But now is not the same experience.
You need to up your game, be more like edgewater resort.

Gorgeous location right on the lagoon which has many fish species that are rarely seen. Loved the snorkeling!
Our 2 bedroom apartment did not have ac in the rooms, just the corridor- my friend slept in the living room.
Also Wi-Fi has to be purchased but I think that’s true of all hotels in the Cooks.
Nice food and great views!!
I’d recommend this hotel
