The Super 8 in Hill City is a good value and it's located in a very convenient spot for walking through town.
There are couple drawbacks. The elevator only provides access to one wing of the hotel. The other wing is only accessible by stairs.
The other drawback is the fairly meager breakfast. It consists of frozen toaster waffles, hard boiled eggs, toast, cake donuts, jogurt, and cereal. Nothing warm except the toast. There are also no refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms so doing some grocery shopping and heating things up is not possible.
All in all for the price, I'd stay there again and just do breakfast at some of the many cafes within a short walk.

Didnt even stay here because the doors were locked and nobody would answer the phone or the door.

I was surprised that the breakfast had frozen waffles thrown in a bowl. The toilet seat looked dirty cause there was a stain on the toilet seat. They give a room with a nice view. The staff was friendly and helped us with our car trouble

Everything was great. It was a little odd that the place is locked up at 7pm and you have to ring the front desk to check in - having the pool and hot tub closed at 8 was also a bit bizarre but otherwise it was just fine.

We asked for a rollaway and the 5th person in our family and it sucked !!! No support and finally took the mattress off and laid it on the floor :( but that was better than having the bar in the middle of your back

Just a night stay. Room was fine but the night stand lights not working to turn off the lights. Had to unplug from the wall. No refrigerator as I thought it was in this hotel because other super 8 hotel I stayed had one. Other than that good dinner food in town.

The so called breakfast was the on the lower end of the scale. coffee was watered down, was only dirty water. There are frozen waffles, donuts with no flavor

The facility is old and it shows. The layout is, in a word, strange. We had difficulty finding our room. The breakfast is below-average.

Wouldn’t rate very good. Stuff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. Hallways smelt pretty bad like smoke. Pool wasn’t the cleanest

We stayed two nights with plans to visit different areas of the Black Hills. We chose this hotel based on location and were not disappointed. It is located in the heart of downtown Hill City and it was very easy to walk to everything we needed. It was easy to get to off the highway and parking was good. It is a dated property and could use some attention. The breakfast was somewhat disappointing especially when compared to the pictures on the counter at check in. We used the pool and there were no towels in the pool area so we used the ones from our room and then were scolded for not getting "pool towels" when we asked for new towels. If you have towels for the pool, then put them in the area or at least have a sign. We would stay again just based on the location.

There was only one staff member on shift. He smelled like marijuana. The “breakfast” was gross and didn’t look like it their standards for cleanliness were very high. The same lady who was cleaning the rooms was managing the breakfast foods and I don’t think she washed her hands between the two jobs.
The walls were paper thin so we could hear other guests very easily (hard to rest at this hotel). The showers were intermittently cold.
Love the location of this hotel, but it was clearly not managed well. We will chose a different hotel if we return to the area.

Price was good compared to others in the area; staff was friendly; not a big selection for breakfast; pool and hot tub were a little gross- the staff did drain, clean & refill the hot tub; water pressure in shower was good but cold in the evening- we had hot water again in the AM; we had no microwave or fridge but that was my fault for not reading the description well enough; they are a pet-friendly hotel and I think some rooms were smoking because there was a “smell” in the building; we didn’t hear any animals but there was a gal complaining at the front desk about the dog in the room next to hers; overall clean beds, bathroom, towels, etc; we liked the location as it was close to everything downtown so we could walk

Nice one night stay in Hill City, SD. The room was small without a microwave or fridge which was a minus. But the bed was comfortable enough to sleep well after taking a dose of NyQuil!

One of the beds' sheet had a stain, very ugly and disgusting, but my wife got a wise way to make it acceptable for the kids to sleep on; the staff was nice and suggested a room near the pool, so my kids loved it :). Thanks staff (suggested me a good place for buffalo meat as well; kids and wife and I loved it); thanks again staff.

The location is great! Property is very dated. Hallways were dirty but rooms were clean. Small TV and hard beds. The kids said the toilets were baby toilets 😝

The property was old and run down. Our room was small and stuffy. Found bugs crawling on the bed and floor. We did appreciate the free breakfast and swimming pool and spa. But had to be quiet in the pool area after 9 pm.

It was kind of a dumpy place to stay. There was not enough parking. The breakfast was mediocre at best. The evening staff didn't know the area and wreaked of pot.

Right downtown Hill City. Several restaurants available with great food, numerous clothes and souvenir shops, all walkable. Near dinosaur & train museums, walkable. Reasonable size of room and great staff. Mostly stair climbing to room. Lots of parking. Laundromat next door. Within 11 minutes on Rushmore. Hot tub and indoor pool. Older facilities. Breakfast choice’s limited. Cool room.

Mediocre and I will never stay at another Super 8 I was fooled when it said Wyndham, because I thought Wyndham would make it better. If it would not have been a hassle because we booked through Expedia , we would have left the moment we arrived. Lousy parking, no hot water, no refrigerator, no microwave, terrible breakfast.

Check in was unfortunately difficult. Had to prove I had already paid for the room on Expedia because the lady was trying to charge me for the room at checkin. They were having “problems” with their computer system and printers so had to wait. Pool hours said closed at 10pm. Tried to go swimming at 9:15 and was informed they now close the pool at 9pm. Room smelled like smoke bad. The people above us were up all night and you could hear EVERY step they took. Evening staff and morning guy do not like their jobs. Unfortunately.

Weather was cold and the heater was so noisy, couldn't sleep. Also we were arranged in a room next to the pool. We kept hearing the sound of the kids playing at the pool. That was really annoying.

This property was not a good property for older people and animals. You had to walk up stairs and there are no convivences for the animals. The coffee in the room was horrible.
