The hotel has been renovated a few years ago. The rooms are simple with few amenities (so you’ll need bring your own kettle if you want the occasional tea) but reasonably spacious (though with a rather bland colour scheme). Had a sea facing room on the 3rd floor with a small balcony that was nice. Late-night noise from various parties, nightclubs etc, from along the seafront was sadly a persistent issue (but not the fault of the hotel) so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Staff friendly and helpful. Lobby bar and balcony nice, with a great view, Restaurant and the food/buffet was fine, but the menu was rather repetitive. For dinner, the inclusive beer was great, but the red/white wine could have been better. The indoor pool is small, but given the limited space in the hotel ok. No onsite parking (in the road its Euro 19 a day if you can find a spot) but the front desk helped us to get parking in their sister hotel next door (for Euro16). Maya, the massage lady, was excellent, It is an easy walk along the coastal path to other bars/restaurants. WiFi was ok, but very spotty reception in the restaurant. Overall an enjoyable stay, in a central location of Opatija. Would definitely stay in the Istra again.

Location on Adriatic shore was outstanding. Bathroom typical miniature European dimensions and I am only 55 tall.

Terrible Check in. Slow, impolite no considerstion for Travelling with small children. Hotel renovated but not beach. Terrible service at beach restaurant. So glad we only stayed Two nights

Good position, but: private parking is not always available and public parking on the street is relatively expensive for an extended stay (130 KN / day). Beds are not the most comfortable, breakfast is ok but not great. The quality of the coffee is not accettable.

Great location, refurbished part of hotel is great, but old part need to be refurbished as well. Hotel is clean, breakfast and dinner are very good. Outside pool need cleaning. Overall my experience was positive and I would return to this hotel.

Just overnighting... was okay, great view, room we booked a few hours prior to arrival was the last one the hotel had, ... so it was not the best, but area is very, very popular and one needs to book well in advance. Also hotel is undergoing some restoration so looked a little untidy. Very noisy neighbours, but that is hardly the hotels fault

I travel quite a lot and I must say this possibly the most disappointing experience. Having viewed hotel gallery it appeared quite impressive, but its so easy to be fooled, very few photos represented the true condition of this depressed hotel. If you are smart you wont use the Smart Hotel Istra there are plenty of better Hotels in Opatjia. Have just spent 3 nights in Oasi Boutique Hotel PULA Expectations were high when we arrived at Hotel Istra. Parking was a nightmare from the outset, like all hotels in the area no free parking was provided, you have to pay from 09:00 ~ 19:00hrs every day !! Our room 112 depressive and need of a total refurbishment, dirty carpet, damaged furniture, dirty bathroom and musty smell were to name but a few. I will say the public areas, dining room, bar and reception were to a good standard, but I dont sleep there !! And as for outside swimming pool, it was a joke.I would not recommend this Hotel when more impressive are close by. :-(
