The hotel was located in a very quiet area above the city which was exactly what I wanted after a long day traveling. Marco was very helpful and extremely nice. No issues with the hotel but would have liked a channel guide rather than aimlessly roaming . Overall I’d stay there again without a doubt

Free parkingFriendly serviceClean but standard roomsWasn’t able to sleep asthere are absolutely no sound proof at the rooms as we were able to hear conversations from next room or people walking in the hall away. We couldn’t sleep at all so we ended up leaving early morning without eating breakfast. We wouldn’t recommend this property to anyone who needs good night rest

The facilities are excellent for the price we paid. We really enjoyed the quaint littel hotel. Would have stayed a few more days if getting to the sites we wanted to visit weren’t so time consuming to get to due the the hotels locations and the difficult roads. You may find yours self reversing back on some roads when you meet cars due the them being so narrow.

This hotel was fantastic, everyone was very welcoming and warm. Room was perfect for our overnight stay. We stayed for dinner which was excellent and they evening translated the set menu into English for us. This hotel is set is an idyllic location and it's well worth the walk or drive to see the sea views. We are already planning our next visit for longer next time.

Nice quiet area near Trieste. A little difficult to find. Very busy in the small town nearby. Not many places to eat however there is a restaurant in the hotel. Very helpful owner who speaks good English. Breakfast was good but no eggs. Rooms are small.

We loved our stay here - however did not realize it was so far out of town. DO NOT book here unless you have a car, it is really difficult with public transportation. If you just want to relax at the hotel or hike nearby it would be fine, but if you want to go back & forth to Trieste, find another place or bring a car. Our host was very friendly and shared his experiences with Up With People (I encouraged him to do so) We arrived on Sunday - a day their restaurant is closed, so we ordered pizza delivery which was great - the night, a pizza and 2 bottles of wine and our expense was less than $120, including the foreign transaction fees.

Nice little hotel with friendly staff, cozy and sensibly priced.
Located in a quiet village only a few minutes away by car from Trieste and the Carso highland
Parking is available as is Wi-Fi.
The only drawbacks are the lack of an elevator, which could be important to some and the lack of air conditioning, which may be critical in the peak of the summer.

Well priced hotel, basic but comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. Room was small and basic but clean and comfortable. Staff are very helpful and friendly although their English varies from very good to none.Breakfast is nice, with a choice of cereals, pastries, jams, cheeses and cold cuts etc. Plus juice, tea, coffee. The evening meal is EUR17 inclusive. There is a different choice of meals each night - 3 or 4 starters and mains, there is no written menu so the staff let you know whats on offer with all food cooked fresh that evening. Starters are the size of the mains! And there is salad on the side as well as bread, oils, vinegars, cheese and meats for you to help yourself to. Really nice food.It is not really possible to walk to Trieste because the hotel is up in the mountain, there are no direct roads or paths. You can get a bus (number 39 bus but make sure you get a timetable from the website as not all buses stop in Banne. Buses that do are sporadic/irregular so plan your day out in advance!). Or its about a 20 minute walk to Opicina (the staff will show you the way), and from there you can get a tram to Trieste, they run every 20 minutes all day each way, also the tram/bus tickets can be brought from outside the tram stop, whereas if you get a bus from the hotel youll need to have a ticket in advance. Obviously if you have a car then this is even better!

We visited Trieste one day & Slovania the next. Hotel Alla Valle di Banne was a perfect location to tour from. The host, Marco was very friendly...with a terrific sense of humour. We will return.

Italian cities are exciting but can also be exhausting. We didn't know what to expect when we booked Alla Valle di Banne. The hotel seemed far away from the city (actually about 10 minutes) up some steep hills. Upon arrival, we were greeted at the reception by a very friendly gentleman (with a good sense of humor) who checked us in and helped us to our room. The room was bigger than expected with a balcony, Sky television system, free wifi, and above all things, peace and quiet.

Whilst the hotel is by no means opulent, it is a wonderfully traditional Italian hotel. What really makes it a lovely stay is the hospitality shown by the owners. In a nutshell they cant do enough for you and are incredibly helpful and accommodating. Would stay again without hesitation.

We were just there for a night and that too on a Sunday. We reached late, but the owner was very helpful and guided us on places to eat. A warm and helpful couple.

Hotel staff very friendly and nice. Very picturesque village and hotel well presented.
It is situated quite far away from Trieste. As we didn't have a car we relied on the buses and tram which we read (from other reviews e.g. on trip advisor) were good for getting around. However, the tram has been out of action for the last 6 months, and is a 15 minute walk from the hotel anyway. The buses that stop outside of the hotel come maybe 3 or 4 times a day. The other bus stops a 5 min walk from the hotel and comes more frequently but takes between 45-60 mins usually to get to Trieste. Be careful not to get on the "hospital" bus (the one ending / [slash]).
The rooms were a bit grubby. The blanket over the bed looked like it hadn't been washed in its life. There was mould on the ceiling in the bathroom. The walls were thin and you can hear everything that goes on in the rest of the hotel, all the bangs, conversations, toilet flushes etc.
There was no food on Sunday evening when we arrived, but the owner sorted some pizza for us. Every other day the breakfast and dinners were very nice and well presented. The owner will do everything he can to make you happy.
There is nothing within walking distance, no cafes or bars.
All in all a nice little hotel, very good value. Good for a cheap trip, but too far from everywhere.

The room was spotless. And I mean SPOTLESS! We loved the owners. Extremely nice people who didnt blink an eye when we arrived late do to a delayed flight. Breakfast was extensive and was quite the best layout of any seen on this trip. The only reason that they did not receive a 5 was due to the hard beds which were so bad that we barely slept thru the night. Most beds in Europe are firmer than those in the US so we expected them to bed a bit different than we are use to. After spending three weeks in 9 different hotels, these were the worst. That being said, I would stay with them again (and perhaps stay in another room).

Marco the hotel manger was an excellent host, very informative and quite a good sense of humour. Whilst not in the city and located in the hills, about 20 minutes from Trieste by tram, the quite surroundings were perfect. We would most definetly come back. By the way the breakfast was excellent and a cold beer on the verandah in the evening was very comforting.. Excellent all round

I really liked my room here. Small like a normal European room, but for one person it was perfect. the room was clean, and the staff was helpful with everything. It took about 15 minutes to get to Trieste because the hotel was up on top of the hill in a nice little town. I was only here for one night, but I really liked how quiet it was.

Very nice, very helpful people, very nice breakfast, but this is basically a 2-star hotel. No elevator, no air conditioning, and absolutely nothing around it. We were told it was a 15 minute walk to the next town, but it's along the highway, with no sidewalk, and there isn't much to offer there, either. The tram to Trieste is considered one of the top attractions - which says a lot. The prices doubled when we crossed the border from Slovenia, and we wished we'd stayed there longer and not bothered with this part of Italy.

I found the hotel very quite and relaxing as it was it a small village in the foothills above Trieste. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh each day.
