This hotel met all my basic needs. I would stay here again. Not fancy but staff is friendly and helpful.
3.8
I’ve stayed at the Sitka hotel before but things have changed in two years: the staff aren’t welcoming, the place feels like it could do with a deep clean and on arrival, not only was my bed badly made but my coffee etc hadn’t been replenished. When I asked the man at reception desk for more (the man who queried the validity of my overseas passport!), it took him some effort to go and get some. The next day, I hoped my room would be restocked as I spoke to several people, only to find out later that housekeeping had gone home a d I should have requested for my room to be done. So I remade my bed while the charmless one went off insearch for coffee.
On the plus side, there’s a free transfer from the airport and the driver was helpful. The hotel location is excellent for walking around Sitka. The restaurant Mangiare’s, on the premises was good.
Overall, for the hefty price the Sitka Hotel are charging they need to up their game on delivering service to visitors instead of being made tofeel they are cutting corners (like now charging for basic breakfast items instead of it being included in the package as it used to).

Daytime check-in was smooth and pleasant. Witnessed several evening check-ins that were a disaster (very confused staff, very slow and even periods where staff was missing during normal hours).
Published adds indicate free continental breakfast - they quit that several months ago. Was told the hotel restaurant started serving breakfast at 7:30 am. They do not open for or serve breakfast at all. Lobby had coffee occasionally and only with limited fixings. There were days when no cups were available nor staff to get cups. Had to go downstairs to lobby when we wanted fresh towels or other items. Rooms were clean and comfortable (a little crowded). Six-night stay and EVERY night after the neighboring bar closed the party moved to the parking lot between the bar and hotel. Party varied from two hours to four hours (several nights until 4:30am) of music, laughter, talking and screaming and arguing just outside the hotel rooms - VERY DISRUPTIVE to say the least - even the heavy rain did not stop the party's and the noise.
Sitka offers several other hotels that are as conveniently located that will get my business next trip. The marketing department needs to update all the advertisements to represent accurate info.

Met the lovely new manager

Bed was not great, sofa bed was horrible! Coffee maker in room didn’t work, staff really didn’t care to assist. Just a Meh experience. Would try a different place next time in Sitka.
3.8
Breakfast was terrible…only toast and store bought egg/sausage muffin sandwiches, a few pastries and coffee.
3.8
The rooms were fine. Not luxurious, but this is an old hotel with good prices and an excellent location. The lady at the front desk in the morning was overworked because other staff did not show up. She did her best and was helpful. The hotel owners should fire the person supposedly running the continental breakfast because he was not there 2 days in a row. The breakfast itself is terrible with a small selection of sweetened dry cereals, some bread, a single kind of jelly, no coffee, hardly any fruit, and a small selection of breakfast bars. There was not enough of most things for the number of guests that showed up even though the owners know how many guests there are. For a real breakfast that also is excellent go three doors down to the Mean Queen. The restaurant attached to the hotel, Mangiare, serves only dinner. The food is Italian and is ouitstanding (my mother was an Italian immigrant, I've been to Italy 15 times, and I cook Italian). Be sure to go early because many locals eat there and the place fills quickly. Large helpings, reasonable prices especially for Alaska. Reservations only by phone and only for 6 or more.

It was adequate for our needs. The shuttle service to the airport is helpful. It was clean.
3.8
Customer service is non existent. They don’t answer the phone & on the occasion when they do, they don’t speak to you & just leave you off the hook to listen to them talking to other people. For the price, rooms should be cleaner. Breakfast should still be included. If you hate tourists, change your job.
3.8
This hotel is not well maintained. Room was stuffy and if you opened the windows the area outside was very noisy. No coffee or tea available in lobby as advertised. Would not stay there again.
3.8
No shuttle, bar closeby with noise till 130am, no a/c, so must open window and endure noise, horrible beds with drawers at bottom that preclude walking around them. withwith l

This is one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. The staff are either unable or unwilling to assist guests. Our group had four separate reservations; two of four rooms were not cleaned when we arrived hours after check in. Even after our room had been "cleaned," there were dirty towels and dishes inside.
Housekeeping went through our belongings the morning we departed BEFORE we checked out/check out time, even though we had a do not disturb sign on.
3.8
An older hotel but good location for us. Airport transport and then whole town was walkable. Attached restaurant good if a bit pricey. Our check-in took a long time (new staff) and our room was very dark. Needed another lamp. But overall, it was fine. I think we were promised breakfast but they have stopped providing.

I’ve stayed at many a crappy hotel and this may have been the worst. Our room (which they told us was an upgrade) was in the corner next to an exit and a bathroom. You could hear everything that was happening in the bathroom, specifically the incredibly loud paper towel dispenser that woke us up numerous times. Every time people exited into the alley the door slammed so loudly that it shook the beds in our room. They have an induction stove but nothing to cook with and only one spoon? Additionally, the people at the front desk said that booking from Expedia doesn’t guarantee a room and that you should call beforehand? They were telling this to a group of people who needed to move rooms halfway through their stay because they booked it through Expedia. I don’t understand why the hotel would be listed on Expedia if the staff insist it doesn’t work. Needless to say I would recommend spending the extra money to stay anywhere else.

Liked being in the middle of downtown, could walk to all shops and restaurants
3.8
Room smelled awful and floor had sticky spots upon entry and for four nights After. Never once replenished anything in the room (coffee pods , towels, water) ,Bed was made each day. But that was it. For $300 per night not even close to value. On the plus side, nice to be in city centre and lovely little town. You’re limited for places to stay in Sitka and this might be your only alternative but don’t expect anything beyond a lowly Motel 6 in a backwater town.
3.8
The front desk staff was not trained and very rude. Would not try to find a solution to room problem. Take it and leave it attitude. They advertise breakfast and do not offer. they blame Expedia for the problem. Room was dirty and no made service for 4 days. Would recommend any hotel in Sitka but this one. Positive great location
3.8
Really good property. Very good location in proximity of pretty much everything. Clean. Very nice staff.
3.8
Didn’t have AC in the room but very nice hotel, staff was helpful. Restaurant was really good
3.8
Check in was terrible. After being ignored for about 5 minutes, the supervisor left the front desk guy (it was his first day), saying “you’ll be fine”, and the poor guy was so nervous. By that time there was a line of people to check in. Our luggage looked like it was thrown into the small room it was in. Breakfast was promised to be included by both Expedia and the hotel website and that was not true, and it was one of the reasons I chose this hotel.
3.8
Good location for walking
3.8
There was a ride to Airport, very early in the morning, Very convenient.
3.8
Breakfast no longer offered, they had apparently stopped serving it three weeks prior. Inefficient and unpleasant staff for checkin. Night staff very pleasant.

First the good:
-Property was very clean, beds were comfortable, and room layout was OK.
Now the bad:
-“included breakfast” was maple and brown sugar instant oatmeal packets and one crunchy granola bar, coffee, and cold water. There were no bowls, and when I asked about that I was told to use cups because they “stopped buying bowls.” She told me that I could get hot water for the oatmeal by filling a paper coffee cup with cold water and then I could microwave it, and then I could eat half of the packet at a time in this little coffee cup. I actually think that leaving out only these 2 options and calling it “breakfast included” is false advertising and I will be following up on this separately with the company.
- Front desk AM attendant ignored me completely when I walked up. I politely waited a few seconds directly in front of her, then said “excuse me” and she then waited about 5 more seconds before looking up at me. She didn’t say anything, she just stared until I asked my question.
- The room had no hotel guide and no dialing guide at all. I asked the same hotel attendant about that and she told me that they don’t put one out because “we assume you know everything already.” Sounded like a joke but she was not joking that they do not provide one.
- it was SUPER loud at night with a nightclub next door that blasts music until 2 AM with people yelling outside the whole time.
- the laundry detergent dispenser was empty. I had to buy my own detergent from the grocery store

We were told that check in was to be at 3 and so we killed time then had to wait around until somewhere around 4:30 to get onto our room. The young gal at the desk was lazy and rude. We were told the stay included breakfast - awful and they didn’t even have any juice.
3.8
no customer service. Front desk unresponsive. No phone in our room. Room service, beds made, new towels, but no clean sheets only happened once on day 5 of 6! No continental breakfast at all. we scheduled ahead as fishermen to at least have hot coffee. Promised but never happened.

Great place!

Finding accommodation in wonderful Sitka can be a challenge. The Sitka Hotel was much nicer than the old Super 8! The place is clean and tidy and has modern safety equipment. However the service is lacklustre- we were nearly charged twice for our room, and breakfast was not on the advertised schedule. After that, we chose not to use the airport shuttle. Tellingly, someone had added the local taxi number under the instructions on the shuttle! But could we have done better for the money? The location was super and the hotel felt safe. I would probably stay there again.
3.8
The front desk was very unprofessional and rude. I really felt like they could care less if we were there, and actually we were an inconvenience. The "breakfast" was pathetic. Some sugary cereal, a couple of granola bars and a banana. Just don't do it if you don't care about it. Also super annoying is that I had to pay $11 at the front desk to get a room key. This is obviously after I spent several hundred dollars on the room. Not sure if that is expedia or the hotel, but just another issue that didn't need to be. Finally, I got a room with a kitchen. Which is great, but if you don't have any dishes or glasses in the cabinets why bother.
3.8
Ridiculous "free breakfast"... no cups for coffee or tea. No other drinks. Just toast (from bread bag) and cold cereal. No staff to assist.
3.8
Said it all
3.8
Great staff and location! We walked over with our luggage from the Uncruise hospitality room.
3.8
Very nice staff. Well informed about hiking trails (bear spray available). A bit sketchy breakfast, but I believe it was due to a medical emergency.
3.8
100 yr old hotel with updated furnishings, bathrooms, and elevator. Not so good...very small rooms. One stay was a room with a queen bed and a dbl bed and my luggage had to set on the unused bed & care taken to walk to the bathroom without clipping an ankle on the bed frame. The other stay had a double bed, no chair and no space to open baggage except on the unused half of the bed.
3.8
Wasn’t ready at time advertised.
3.8
This hotel does not understand the concept of service. The reception staff were either “strange” but trying to help with what they have to work with or just outright rude. Also they were quick to blame the problem we had with room Assignment on Expedia in terms of not receiving our requested
Assignment
3.8
The Sitka Hotel is a clean, centrally located hotel with a nice Alaskan feel. It has all the basic amenities and offers a very basic breakfast. It was a good value for the area. The restaurant attached has good food with large portions for the money.
3.8
Getting there - They have a shuttle that runs to and from the airport. It runs when there are planes to meet.
Good location, you can walk to many things in town. Drug store (with ice cream counter) next door. There is a grocery store a few blocks away.
The hotel restaurant was very good. I enjoyed the halibut on pasta and it was very good.
If you want to go to the Fortress of the Bears, plan on taking the "Blue" bus. $2 per person, $1 for seniors each way. Catch it at the marina which is a few blocks away.
3.8
Property was OK. Met our needs but place was moderately clean and the bar, a couple of buildings down the same block, kept us up half the night with the music and loud crowd.
3.8
Quiet and pleasant. Hotel shuttle worked great.
