The location is the only great thing about this. It has so much potential. We arrived before 8 pm and had to check in at the bar next door. In the morning reception was not friendly. Room was dirty and old. You can here everything in your room and in hall. A coffee or tea would be nice. We will not stay again. Such a shame to let such a historic building decay.

Was a good place to stay right in the square, walkable to all shopping and the beach. Bathroom was a little outdated and bed a bit hard but all manageable and did not make the experience unpleasant. Would stay again because of location and great price.

It was fine for the price. Front desk staff not great. I booked it specifically for the location which is great, and for the price which is good for what you get.

If you are expecting a 5 star hotel at this price, you have unrealistic expectations. When you enter the hotel, its very grand! The young lady that checked us in was friendly. Yes, the carpet on the stairs should be cleaned. We were on the 2nd floor. When you open the door to the room, it was a bit musty smelling, the hotel is over 100 years old! (They should run the a/c before guests arrive). Once the a/c runs for a bit, the smell goes away. When I first went into the bstheoom, it appeared fine, but the other reviews are correct, the bathtub is gross, they could easily take care of this and it would make a huge difference. The restaurant had live entertainment, which was fun, and Sunday morning there is a market in the square, so we enjoyed walking around. For the money, the hotel was fine. Clean the carpets, run the a/c before guests arrive and clean the grout in the tub and there would be no complaints from me. For the price, we'll still likely be back!

My cousin and arrived and had to check in at the bar. There are no elevators and we were on the third floor. We are in our 60s, and carrying luggage up was a challenge. The carpets throughout are stained and very old. Our room had two double beds, mine had some hair on it, looked like dog hair. The carpets had burn marks and major stains. Looking up, I noticed big stains on the ceiling. The bathroom was extremely small, taps had rust on them, and the basin had several small cracks. The tub had a bit of mold. It was quiet except for the AC which was very loud. Breakfast was free and it was continental. We opted for a hot breakfast elsewhere. We will not return.

Great location & quiet. Unfortunately that the only positive things I can say about my stay 1 of the 2 ceiling lights not working in the bathroom Only 1/4 roll of toilet paper (no other rolls left in the bathroom). Had to go to the bar downstairs to ask for toilet paper. Rugs, walls, doors and accessories looked very old (not in a good historic way) No one is at the front desk after 5pm Hallway did have a funky smell Overall feel - room was located in a back down a narrow hallway. The room was very small with just enough space for the king bed & desk. I've stayed here a few years ago and it was good at that time. Although it was tired looking back then and needed upgrades. Now I'm afraid it no longer tired looking, it now looks run down. Room was not representative of the images in online. I regretted staying here on this occassion. I will not be staying at this hotel again.

This hotel is in a great spot in the middle of town, great value for the money. It was clean and bed was very comfortable and super soft sheets. Being an older hotel it does have charm and history. It’s what I was expecting, would stay there again.

The furniture, carpet, drapes and blankets are old and not very clean. The AC unit is also old and loud, but gets the job done. Linen and towels are mismatched and have all sorts of stains. Bathroom is dated, both sink and tub's faucets are rusty, full of scale and gross however the water pressure is decent. The receptionist seemed cold and unapproachable, but ended up being a sweetheart! The breakfast options are very limited and needs at least another toaster. Overall the hotel is not the best option for your comfort, but its location and staff makes up for it.

Goderich is beautiful. Lovely town. The hotel’s saving grace is that it’s located right on the square. The rooms are old, the floors are sagging, the front desk is often unreachable. Much of the hotel needed replaced in 2004, much less 2024.

The Bedford Hotel at one time was probably a beautiful and super busy place! If the current owners took some time to update the rugs, paint and ensure everything is very clean maybe it would be beautiful again ! Sheets don’t fit the bed properly, grout in the bathroom is dirty, everything smells musty! Breakfast is included but is pretty slim. This place is so incredibly located with the potential to be amazing but owners and staff have to believe it and make it happen! Even just be friendly and welcoming would be a start!!

We love Goderich and have stayed at The Bedford several times in the past. We knew what to expect from this quaint, old, hotel. However, on this visit, it appeared to be starting to show its age and appear run down. Front desk staff is not always available. Cleaners needed to do a better job in the room and stairs. Be careful to save your records if booking through an online agency. We used Expedia and the rate quoted in the confirmation email was NOT what the hotel staff said it was. When presented with proof of confirmation, they did finally honour it without any issues. It may be time to check out other places to stay for next time. .

No elevator , was not pleasant for someone in their seventies with bad knees, there was no mention of this at time of booking. Our room was not ready anthe replacement room was not oequal value. We will not stay here again, very disapointed.

The bed did not have a fitted sheet so at 11:00 at night we had to call to have a sheet put on the bed. Makes me wonder what else they did not do or clean in the room. The comforter had blood on it and it needed to be changed when they brought the fitted sheet.
