My wife and I have travelled all over Europe, This is by far the best experience we have had at a hotel.

They upgraded our room, we got welcome drinks and food in one of there restaurants that are also very good! Room was amazing. Customer service was the best I’ve ever seen. They even gave us complementary water, wine, beer, and salad. They brought all of our luggage to our room. The breakfast is phenomenal and is a multiple course breakfast. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. If you don’t book here your missing out!

Beautiful accommodation in Central location

The flat is in a central location, yet very quiet, the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was beautifully furnished and the bed was very comfortable.

Unfortunately, the apartment's design, with a glass partition (with gaps between glass panes) between the sleeping area and the facilities, means very little privacy.

Lovely, welcoming, delicious stay!

The hotel was in a lovely location, the staff was incredibly helpful and welcoming, and the on-site restaurants (and amazing breakfast) divine!

The bathtub situation in my room was a little awkward and uncomfortable -- there were marble stairs to climb up into the tub, and they got dangerously slippery when wet.

Nice centrally located place to stay in Crete

The room was a very good size. We were greeted very nicely and received very good help from the reception. The breakfast was excellent! There were several good restaurants within easy walking distance.

It was very difficult to find and no one answered the phone the first time we called. The view wasn't very good. The roof top hot tub was under repair, so unavailable for our use, but a welcome cocktail was provided as compensation.

We stayed in a junior suite which just was very special to us. the roof pool as shown in the publicity photo was a brilliant escape place. The staff and those of the associated restaurants were super friendly and helpful.

Love. Love. Loved staying here

We loved staying here and it is probably the best hotel we have ever been to. the warmth of all the staff, the location and. the absolutely amazing food. They really have the best restaurants in Rethymno. We also did the cooking class with the head chef and can’t recommend that highly enough. Thanks to all for such an amazing stay.

The staff knew that we had a reservation for taking a dinner for my husband's birthday and anniversary at the restaurant which we made on its site and not on Booking, and they prepared a gift for him with which they welcomed him at the hotel. We liked the ambiance, the decoration, the beautiful buildings taking part of AVLI, the staff who take care of all their guests!

lovely - particular mention to breakfast staff & choice - nothing too much trouble

The whole property exceeded our expectations. on arrival we struggled to find the hotel but phoned and the receptionist on duty came to meet us & then got us a table in their restaurant - the food was exceptional - we returned again. lovely room, spotlessly clean & all staff gave very good advice on local area/places to visit.

An outstanding experience we can’t wait to repeat.

An outstanding experience. Avli is one of the best reasons to visit Rethymnon. Our stay exceeded expectations. The hospitality of the staff is outstanding, they are welcoming and they make it feel like visiting family. Situated in the charming streets of the old town, the central location is the place to be. Walking everywhere is possible within minutes. Our room was thoroughly charming and very spacious. Their two restaurants, Avli Fine Dining and Raki Ba Raki offer contrasting experiences of the best of local food. Breakfast in the charming secluded Avli courtyard is a delightful way to start the day. A stay in Crete is enhanced by a car and Avli have parking available two minutes from the hotel in the old town, making for a seamless experience.

Rethymnon is very lively at night and local noise can continue late. Sleep with ear plugs if this troubles you.

The breakfast was beyond amazing and the service was incredible. I absolutley loved the beautiful garden where the breakfast is served. We also sat there as we waited for our room to be ready. They offered us beverages as we waited and it was a lovely atmosphere.

Not sure this is anyone's fault and more of just a note. Not necessarily a big deal. We had a balcony and it was over a street that seemed to take deliveries so in the morning the view was cute but kind of loud with deliveries. Nothing to ruin a vacation just noting that it's not like birds chirping

Wonderful spacious Old Town Hotel with excellent staff and interesting Cretan food

Food philosophy was all local Cretan ingredients served in a tapas style in small tasty dishes. Staff were very friendly and quietly efficient, breakfast was served in a attractively laid out courtyard with plants and artwork, sun and shade. Hotel is set in the narrow streets of the Old Town, with the bustle that is so atmospheric. Nice rooftop solarium for sun worshippers.

As the Hotel is in the Old Town there is no parking. The hotel has an arrangement with the closest car park which offers a lower rate to guests. The rooftop jazzcuzi was not working as it was early in the season

Breakfast was great (a lot of food!) and the location, down a pretty little street in the old town, was close to everything you need. The staff were really helpful and friendly - they also organised a taxi for us from the airport and waited up for 3 extra hours as our flight

The jacuzzi/terrace was closed due to the wind the previous week which was a big shame

Great town and beach with loads of good restaurants- not least the Avli.

Lovely room in historical house. Nice shower and very prompt cleaning. Breakfast was excellent in the wonderful garden of the associated restaurant

Location is in the old town which is convenient except for the noise from revellers until the early hours. Sorry but it was an issue. Pictures for the property give the impression of a roof top pool which was not mentioned and certainly not in our building.

The best

The hotel is in the best area of the old town. It’s plenty of good restaurants and stores. The staff was very helpful and gentle. The Avli restaurant is delicious and the breakfast is served in a very beautiful garden. The room is spacious and comfortable and also very beautiful. I would not go to another hotel in Rethymno.

A jewel of a destination in a jewel of a city.

The AVLI Lounge Apartments occupy three beautifully restored Venetian townhouses in the most desirable sector of the Old City of Rethymno. The decor and all appointments are first-rate and the staff is superbly attentive. All this would be reason enough to book there, but the centerpiece of AVLI is its world-class organic restaurant, serving perhaps the freshest and most beautifully prepared dishes we've had anywhere in the Mediterranean arena.

There's nothing to complain about, other than perhaps the absence of a small swimming pool. Crete is very hot in the summers, and the rooftop jacuzzi, while very nice and blessedly cool, doesn't quite do the job when its 40C.

Lovely characterful boutique hotel in the heart of Rethymno’s old town. Helpful staff, great room and having a very quiet small jacuzzi pool on the sunny rooftop was an absolute treat. Fantastic restaurant too.

PERFECT! Beautiful, clean, central, WONDERFUL STAFF

If we could give this hotel an 11 (or even a 20) out of 10 we would! We stayed on a two pass through Rethymno on our honeymoon and we honestly wished we’d booked our whole holiday here. I caveat this review with the fact that I don’t review, ever! This hotel and the staff were so great I felt like I had to leave a review as it made our honeymoon! Firstly, we cannot thank Elina enough. She was up beat, happy, attentive, so so so helpful and really made our stay even more perfect. She made us excited about Rethymno and was there whenever we needed her. Communication with her in the lead up to the stay was so helpful and reassuring and she helped us find secure 24 hour parking. Thank you Elina! The hotel was also beyond perfect. Centrally located, in the nicest and best part of the town. Winding streets with beautiful overhanging flowers and vines! The rooms are in one of 3 buildings owned by Avli, the other being the reception and the restaurant. We had the orange suite and we couldn’t recommend it enough! It was spacious, beautifully decorated and had a jacuzzi bath. It was also the floor down from the hot tub and roof terrace which was equally amazing. The hot tub is huge and overlooks the city top with views of the fort. It was stunning! The third building was the restaurant with the MOST beautiful garden. We went to a number of restaurants but the Avli was one of the best. It’s a cool courtyard, with varying heights and flowers and trees! So so beautiful! Breakfast was also amazing! A huge number of option - Cretan influences - yoghurt, eggs, breads, cheese. It was AMAZING! We also ate in the restaurant at night and the food was exceptional. Most was Cretan and the staff explained all of the local dishes, their origins and gave recommendations. The wine list was also spectacular!!

Unique! Beautiful! Incredible breakfast! Excellent bed! Excellent shower! Best location possible! Staff was awesome! Great restaurants. All my shirts and shorts laundered and ironed for 5 euros! What more can I say!
