Enjoy! The Neighborhood: With its artisan cafes & boutique shops, Marchmont is a fantastic base to explore Edinburgh. There are two supermarkets at the top of the road along with local grocers. If visiting Edinburgh for the Fringe/Festival, many of the main Fringe venues including Summerhall & George Square are just a few minutes walk away through The Meadows, a large public park criss crossed by tree lined paths. If travelling as a family, Doodles a paint your own ceramic work shop is just down the street. There is a large childrens’ playground In The Meadows where you will also find tennis courts which can be hired by the hour. Equipment can be rented so no need to bring your own. Warrender Swim Centre, housed in an historic Victorian building with its 25 metre pool and modern gym facilities is only a few minutes walk away Enjoy a round of golf at nearby Bruntsfield Links short hole golf club where you can play for free. Clubs can be hired from The Golf Tavern. Marchmont has an array of delicious dining options so you are sure to find something to suit. The Rabbit Hole restaurant at the end of the street is a popular choice. Pomelo, serving Asian inspired dishes is close by. The Birchwood is a great place for brunch as are Red Box Coffee, Argyle Place Cafe & Detour Expresso all of which are just a few minutes walk away. Getting Around: The best way to experience Edinburgh has to be on foot. However, should you be unfortunate enough to experience the infamous Scottish weather, the Number 41 bus from outside the apartment will take you into town or you you can get the No 24 nearby. From the airport, if you are taking the airport bus, you will get off at the last stop at Waverley. If you are traveling light, you can get up to the property walking in about 20mins. Or take a cab that will cost you around 10 pounds to get here. From the train station - same instructions as above. You can get up to the property by walking in about 20mins. The Royal Mile, the Meadows, Teviot House, George Square, etc. are within a 5 to 20 mins walk. Princess Street is about a 25mins walk. So you will not need to pay high taxi rates which will be 5-10x more than usual. We kindly request that you read the house rules prior to booking and respect them during your stay.
