This hotel had an amazing view of the ocean and Alcatraz. Our room was in a King bed suite and chose the waterside view. It felt safe and there was always someone outside to help. They had dependable valet which made us feel better about parking. We didn’t get an opportunity to try out the restaurant but the menu looked good. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend it to anyone who wants to be in a good location close to many tourist attractions.

Nice one night stay after a short vacation in the SF area. Great location for walking to bars, restaurants and the Fisherman’s Wharf. Hotel did a nice job arranging for our car to be accessible for an early morning departure before the valets were there.

What an amazing hotel. Really well located round the corner from Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf and the ferry for Alcatraz. Rooms were lovely and comfy and really helpful staff. Would highly recommend

Staffs were exceptionally friendly. Property was not bad but felt pretty outdated and old. Don’t think it is a 4.5 Star hotel but a 3.5 to 4.0 Star hotel.

I was only looking for a place to stay a night before the cruise. Found this on Hotel.com because it is close to the cruise terminal. To my surprise, this hotel is amazing! 5 stars for everything!

Nice hotel, conveniently located within walking distance, friendly staff, easy access, but felt worn out and old, the wallpaper outside our room was peeling off- I guess water damage, and the hotel had a musty smell.

Friendly and welcoming check in staff, although it was a little hard to hear with the loud DJ booth right beside them, wasn’t really an issue - just seemed ‘odd’. Room was nice, comfy and clean and quiet. Great location. Really enjoyed our weekend in San Francisco. Restaurant was fabulous.

From the time we drove up, the service was excellent. The lady at the front desk was so friendly. Our room was not quite ready so we left our bags and went off to explore the city. When we came back, we still had to wait a bit so we played some games (hotel supplied) on the lobby. Once oir room was ready, we proceeded upstairs to a large, clean room with a beautiful bay view.

Booked two rooms for one night for cruise. Horrible view and hotel seems run down and somewhat outdated. Service was great at counter but nothing special to make me want to stay there again.

We truly enjoyed our time at the Kimpton! It was safe, clean and enjoyable. The hotel itself was very well kept and maintained. The staff was so helpful and kind. The location was very safe and close to amazing restaurants and fisherman’s wharf. We would come back for sure!

The location is really convenient if you’re planning to do a lot of touristy things. The staff is polite and friendly; they left a nice welcome note in the room for the kids with some cookies and snacks. The surrounding area is rather rundown and there was a lot of open trash bins and quite a few homeless people hanging around.

Parking is valet, very easy but expensive. Staff were fantastic, room was quiet and comfortable. Beds and pillows could use an update. Water pressure was good, house keeping was good. VIP provided a bottle of wine which was received next day in room. 2 bottle of water per day per room, had to ask for them at front desk. Beer/wine service daily 5-6pm was great. Close to fishermen’s what and all tourist attractions. No concerns when walking at night.

Haven’t been to San Fran in years and was a bit worried about safety. Hotel was very clean and safety wasn’t an issue for us. Loved the complimentary happy hour and record players in the rooms. The restaurant/bar was also lively and lovely.

We stayed for three days, chose the Alton so we were in a safe walkable area. The property was a little disappointing for a Kimpton. We managed to be placed on a lower floor with dumpsters outside that seemed to be emptied at 4am each day. Beds were comfortable, A/C was a little unpredictable and sucked in what the people smoking weed outside didnt want... The Abaca restaurant attached was not the greatest (we've been to the Philippines many times and this aint it) and it is quite expensive. There is a superb Korean directly across that was very impressive and our Korean Uber driver told us it was very well known. Overall, not sure we would stay here again, there are many options in the area, it wasnt terrible at all and the front desk were really good to us, i guess if the room allocation had been better it would be on our short list.

We enjoyed our stay at the Kimpton Alton very much. It was perfect for us. We traveled with 2 teenagers and there was a young, cool vibe with the dj'd happy hour each day. And they loved the record player and available record options. Our rooms were very clean and up to date. No slow draining showers, signs of neglect or stains on the carpet or furniture. The mattress was extremely comfortable! So much so my husband wants me to contact the hotel to ask what kind of mattress we were sleeping on because he forgot to look:). The street outside the hotel is very quiet and feels safe. If you are willing and able to walk....There is so much within walking distance of the hotel. We would defintely come back and stay.

Staff was always very friendly and helpful. In bad need of an update especially the bathrooms. Half wall shower glass did not keep water off the floor, but water pressure was great. Great place to stay and be a tourist at the wharf.

For a family trip, the area is walking distance to some restaurants, souvenir shops, and the wharf/embarcadero. Noticeably less homeless in the area and on the trolley; feels safer than 2 years ago. It’s still not as lively as precovid, but we still had a great time. The hotel is clean and aesthetically appealing. Staff were pleasant. Valet guys were amazing!
