Amazing Hotel

Very nice but beware they don’t allow any drinks of any kind being brought to beach area. Can’t even have bottled water because they have a restaurant on site.

Loved this resort. I read some negative reviews, mostly around the volume of the music...
I wasn't there when those reviews were written but I can say that my experience does not align with ANY negative review of any type. From check-in to housekeeping to food and beverage to valet, we didn't have a single issue and so I highly recommend visiting Shepards on your next trip to Clearwater. As a point of reference - we are 50's / 60's in age and traveled without children.
While there, walk next door to Jimmy's Seafood restaurant (not part of Shepards), grab a seat on the wooden patio overlooking the water and ask for Momma D to serve you. Then sit back, relax and enjoy some great food and an even better atmosphere.

Great first impression, arrived to valet parking, then into the cool of reception which has a wonderful tropical smell. Toni was warmly welcoming and helped us check in seamlessly. We could hear/see the pool area was buzzing, loud music, mix of folks (age to group size) laughing and chillaxing in the sun or shade. Our room was fabulous, clean and laid out well, with a nice balcony looking out to the gulf bay and the pool/deck. We enjoyed listening to the music from here. The live bands are good but loud, and the tiki bar gets roudy at night. The food at the tiki grill was simple and delicious. Cocktails yummy. Pool beds get filled up quickly and beach beds are extra charge, water sports also available at cost. Overall a vibrant few days that we enjoyed, however not really suitable for anyone look for a peaceful restful break. Will definitely return with a group for a fun time in future!

The Breakfast should be over looking the water or in a different location and get rid of the paper plates at breakfast and some real forks and spoons/ knives

Overall, we had a very nice stay. When we first got there, it was a little wild and crazy out at the pool and bar area. Well, it was spring break and the crowd was young and very energetic. The next day was much quieter and relaxing. More our speed. Good location, friendly staff, clean. The "beach front" is a fairly small area and you have to pay for chairs and umbrellas. We hung out at the pool.

Nice resort but bring your earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Music can be heard in rooms until midnight +
It appears many families come on vacation here, with parents, children and grandparents. A good time was had by all young and old.

It would help if they informed you of the restaurant being closed for renovation. Early birds should have a small coffee station set up in the lobby. Buffet is too katey

I like the place, pool is nice and warm enough. Very close to the beach. Beautiful beach and the service from the bar was good.
We had live music every night and it was good to entertain the whole family. The room was okey, nothing special, it was silent because we were facing the street on the 6th floor.
I’d stay again.

Had a great time at Shephards. Very nice staff, rooms, location and outdoor pool and bar/music area. The beds were super comfy and overall it was our favorite place to stay in Clearwater. I only have two “issues” or complaints that neither will deter a return visit but I wasn’t happy with. The first complaint is that you are forced to utilize a valet service for parking (added expense I was unaware of) and then they have this bracelet you are required to wear at check in that must stay on your entire stay (a removable type should be issued for you to wear when entering the pool/bar area). Aside from those two items we loved the live music and food daily. You never have to leave if you choose not to.

I loved the staff and their friendliness, helpfulness. Our room was very nice and very comfortable loved the pool area and the food. The drawback was the late night music. One night it kept us awake with the heavy base that we could hear.

While the resort is geared toward adults, my two young kids had a great time. The pool was warm, the beach access was easy (along with the de-sanding after). Really appreciated the kitchenette. But the live music was the highlight - as an avid concert-goer, it really made the experience more fun and relaxing for me and my kids were tearing up the dance floor in the evening.

This property is like a hidden jewel. Private beach, excellent music, dining and wonderful, smiling people. It’s beautiful to watch the Dolphins swim by and take in the sunset. It was difficult to leave.

Nice beach and friendly staff. Gulf tower renovation underway which made finding the breakfast buffet difficult. Overall a good value though.

The best thing this resort has going for it is the STAFF, the location. We stayed in the Gulf tower which is undergoing construction. It was extremely noisy, the fire alarm went off 3 times, including 2am one morning, the flooring being installed and no direction where to go from out of the elevator, the banging of and emptying of dumpsters at 4:30am, the night club pumping until 2:30AM and inconsistancy of hours with the Tiki Bar by the pool The food at the Tiki Bar was excellent!!! But you never knew when they were to be open. There is music every day at the Tiki Bar on the beach and good music too with the same delicious food. No consistency at all. The Valet Staff, the Reception Staff are all wonderful and an example of customer service. Due to the construction and the noise, lack of safety precautions around the construction I feel was very poor.

We needed to use an e-credit from airline before it expired a decided to go to Tampa/Clearwater and after a short search we chose Shephard's Beach Resort. Construction is being done and we weren't sure were to enter because of lack of signs. We went down to the Tiki bar and sat there without being waited on so we left and went across street to get a drink and eat. It was to cold to enjoy the beach and it didn't cost extra to park . I don't know if there is much to do without leaving the property although there was a band that played until 2am Sunday morning making it hard for those of us who prefer to sleep. I will not be back to this property but it might be a good place for someone else.
