Great food and service in bar and restaurant. Charming SW decor. Friendly staff. Old and quaint hotel.

Nice historic place . Unfortunately, I am a big guy and the room was minuscule.

The location was in the middle of town. Access left and right to food, store, and freeway. The Route 66 look was awesome. The room was comfortable and large. We had a suite which were 2 adjoining rooms with 1 King and 2 beds in the other. The family was very happy. The room had a record player which for kids that don't know what that is or a pay phone, were talking points and likeness. The actual key to a room took us back years from the normal key card which was cool.

Was not aware the hotel also was a motel. Our room was in the motel.
Lots of charm from the days when Route 66 was in its heyday.
Lots of history.
Motel room was rather noisy from the road traffic. May not be the case in the hotel though.
Bed was comfortable and big. Shower was great.
Would recommend staying here just for the nostalgic feeling.

Check in was easy. The desk clerk was really nice and helpful. It’s an old hotel but very well kept. Loved the Ambience of the wild west and Native American theme. Our room was quite small. A bit difficult to Maneuver comfortably. No fridge. Had a coffee pot but the water tank on it had something floating in it. We would stay there again. The restaurant served a delicious pork stew. A bit expensive.

This was our second stay with El Rancho. We love the decor throughout, and the restaurant is one of the best.

Really unique place, fantastic lobby and great, clean rooms.

Beautiful classic hotel, excellent facilities. Bathroom was tiny.

Love El Rancho!! It's an experience you certainly need to try

What a nice place to stay.

Bucket list item checked off for my husband. Rich in history, took lots of pics. Restaurant had yummy food! My one negative...while nicely remodeled, the bathroom in our room was by far the smallest I've ever had to use. Movie stars were, obviously, MUCH smaller and skinnier than folks today.

Delux room very small and bit grotty

Five star. Super cool Route 66 themed room that was clean, upgraded and really unique. Definitely would stay again.

The worst parking situation I have ever seen at a hotel. The room and bathroom were so small you could barely move. The first room we were given was a nasty.

Historic old hotel with lots of Hollywood memorabilia. Really fun to use the old style elevator and stroll the memories of simpler times. Rooms however are the smallest I have ever stayed in. The bathroom is so small you literally cannot turn around. Fun for a night but don’t plan a long stay.

Love hotel. A little disappointed in room size, and just had a view of roof.

The staff was so attentive sending me texts and answering questions. The hotel lobby had a little construction area, but still had the old west atmosphere. We had a king bed which was nice, but I didn’t realize the room was too small for it until after we saw it. I the room was fine - just for sleeping. I wish there were shelves in the bathroom and shower to place items - I ended up putting all my makeup and toiletries in the sink. The restaurant was nice - we ate 2 meals there and both were great. The wait staff was great - very friendly and hardworking. We bought a few items from the store, so all in all the stay was fun. I’d probably ask for a larger room next time, but I would still recommend a night’s stay there.

Interesting - faded grandeur - undergoing improvements - room was good - recently updated bathroom - small but very clean. Bedroom was quiet bed comfortable.

It was very misleading. It says “pet friendly” but there’s nowhere for you to take your pet. The room was super noisy being next to a busy street. No AC available in the room. If I am ever in the area again I will not be choosing this place.

This hotel is beautiful and charming. The lobby is so warm and inviting. We stayed in the Mae West room and while it was a little small it was comfortable and clean. The bathroom is tiny but has beautiful old black and white tiles on the floor and in the shower. They have managed to maintain the history of the building but still give it the comforts of a modern hotel. We enjoyed our short stay and would definitely stay again if passing through Gallup

I like the historic feel of the hotel.
The bathroom in the room was very small and tight. There is very little space between the toilet and the sink.

Love this place. No more big box hotels. This place is fun, interesting, has a great restaurant and the rooms are comfortable. Will always be our go to in Gallup. Oh and less expensive.

The room in the motel section was amazing. The decor is vintage route 66 and was lots of fun to stay in. The weather caused us to stay in most of the time and cut our stay short but it was still a wonderful stay. The restaurant has a terrific menu and atmosphere.

We had a good experience with our family in the suite. Plenty of space and the housekeeper even brought us more sheets for the couch bed before we had to ask.
The kids loved the old elevator and the lobby area. I love the old unique hotel feel. So with old buildings come fun quirks so we were all good with the hotel vibe. We’d definitely stay again.
We liked Gallup too and found a great city playground.

Enjoyed staying at this historic motel. The beautiful lobby with all the actors photos were very interesting. Restaurant on site had great food. Next time i will request a room in the main building, as we stayed in the detached rooms next door at the main intersection and traffic was very noisy.

The hotel was fabulous really enjoyed everything except the heat got stuck and it was like 80° in the middle of the night so we had to turn the heater off

Loved the fun experience staying here. Would certainly recommend over the other chains in the area!

The stay was worth it just for the old Hollywood history. Probably not much has changed in the hotel since the 1940s, although it is beautifully restored and has many photos of the movie stars and information about them.

While on driving to Arizona we made our stop for the evening in Gallup, NM. While choosing a hotel for the night I stumbled upon this absolute GEM! A hotel with a lot of history, a nice restaurant and bar attached with very reasonable prices. They have made the perfect updates with still keeping the original charm. Security on site made you feel comfortable. I overheard another couple coming in to the hotel to dine (who were staying behind the El Rancho at Best Western? Say “we should have stayed here!”)
Yes you should have. We are glad we did!

This was amazing! We went for a bday getaway for my husband and it was the perfect choice! The ambiance of the entire place was perfect, you felt like a star yourself being surrounded by the memories of all the Hollywood A-Listers that stayed there while filming. Beautiful architecture, friendly staff, and amazing rooms each a little unique and full of history. We stayed in the Kirk Douglas room! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Beautiful iconic destination with a great bar, restaurant and hotel. Brought my dog, had a large room. Loved sitting by the fireplace. Friendly staff

Surprised by the fun interior of the motel portion

Very charming lobby, restaurant is average, we had a king bed, it was good, cold draft near window. Probably the smallest bathroom I have ever experienced, drain was not working in shower, just bad

We got the family suite with 2 queens and 1 king. Both rooms were clean, comfortable, and absolutely adorable. I loved the decorations and feel. We stayed in the Motel side and walked to Hotel for fun. The restuarnt was good too! My only complaint was having a record player instead of a microwave. We cannot wait to stay again but in the Hotel this time!

Made a point to book a room at the Historic El Rancho in advance because Kiwis on 66 had filled the CV place when came through in 2017. It is indeed classic and something to put on your bucket list.

The rating on Expedia was “9.2 Wonderful!”. It was far from it. Hotel El Rancho is almost 100 years old and it shows it age - even with the renovation. The outer door to our room and the main door to our room barely opened. The toilet flush was ear-splittingly loud. The bathroom smelled like a sewer before we used it. The parking lot was in terrible shape – lots of potholes and extremely cramped parking. The front desk person was
