Excellent view, beautiful room! On the other hand, no bar near the beach, must take a shuttle to get there, everything on the service must be done by climbing steps, steep slopes.. The bar near the main swimming pool closes at 10 p.m. and we cannot not stay longer chatting... We could go to the Wet bar which closed at midnight. At 11:45 p.m. the bartender left. On the other hand, he was very nice! The one during the afternoon at the Wet bar could put a smile on his face. The swimming pool at the wet bar needed cleaning, there were lots of dead caterpillars. The room was very beautiful, clean and comfortable! Slept very well. The buffet was small (I don't know if it's because of the low season). When leaving, we had to wait for the housekeeper to check out. We have been to several 5 star hotels and never had to do that. We were in a hurry to go to the airport and we had to wait... The hotel is beautiful for the view, but for the rest, a little disappointed.

Beautiful! Everyday the sunset was amazing, the food was decent. It was great for peace and relaxing but if you want to party you have to be a person that knows how to create Fun! Very clean, the staff was great and the beach and excursions were a blast! Lock Your doors from Raccoons lol

This a a wonderful resort if you are looking for a quiet peaceful vacation. They do have a bar little dancing music karaoke bingo but It is not a party resort. Food was great fresh daily breakfast repetitive but still good . Staff very helpful and rooms clean and air conditioned worked well. Do not leave balcony door open raccoon will enter your room at night, good thing they are more afraid of you then you are of them.

Beautiful location and sunsets that will amaze you. People are great and helpful.
Location is clean and quiet. Don’t listen to bad reviews if you can’t enjoy yourself here, it’s on you. Yes, there is one restaurant but the food is great staff is friendly and helpful food is different daily. Pools are great and the beach is amazing and chill. If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy this is it.

After staying at Villa Sol for 4 days 3 nights, the property is in need of a major upgrade. Although the views from the hotel is spectacular, the food, cleanliness, and aesthetic of the hotel is very old and falling apart. The staff were very nice and helpful, but I was very disappointed by the hotel. Costa Rica is a beautiful country I will definitely return, but I will never stay at Villa Sol again.

Villas Sol did a great job taking care of us for the week. Rooms were clean, and reclined daily. Staff was very pleasant and helpful with our questions. Easy access to the beach. Walkable distance to the restaurant. We will be back.

Stayed 6/16/24-6/21/24 , The staff was excellent, however the room needs upgrading , and the all inclusive food wasn’t up to par i.e. choices, quality, variety, times , Don’t recommend this resort for those reasons

The food at the resort restaurant had really good food and the shuttle to the beach and other activities made everything easy. It’s also a beautiful property!

It felt like a boutique experience. The view was worth giving up the beach proximity for. We enjoyed the international crowd and there were some natives staying here which is a good sign, buffet options were good and service friendly. Look for monkeys and little yellow birds and enjoy sunset photo shoot every night!

The property was good, check in 3-4, even if you go early, shuttle available, we have issues with the shower, it did not work and have to change to another room. The buffet wasn’t various and bars open at 11am. I will recommend more snack areas, we paid for all inclusive that doesn’t meet the expectations.

Villa Sol is an older property located in a beautiful area
Pros: amazing staff, really went the extra mile to make sure all of our needs were met. Shout out to Fernando and Rafael and Orian at the pool bar for keeping us hydrated and in good spirits. Food was good especially the bread oh my goodness. So good. Was also really cool to have the option of going to the beach and the shuttle was easy and readily available whenever needed!
Cons: uncomfortable beds, only one dining option with limited choices. If they installed some fans in the restaurant it would be really amazing.
Separate special thanks to Karol at Oygen travel who arranged a ride for us from San Jose when our original flights were cancelled and we had to scramble!

The property needs upkeeping, not really all inclusive, there are times during the day with no food available, staff not friendly at all, food options were horrible, they don't keep the food covered so lots of flies. Air condition not working. Overpriced for what you get. I do not recommend at all. I think expedia needs to re-class the rating on this property. I will not be staying here again.

My stay was in the hotel part of the complex. Unfortunately the AC was not working so good, the tv reception was awful. Other than that, the staff were very friendly.

The hotel is very nice and clean. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Some things to note. Beach is not far from the hotel but it requires for guests to depend on their shuttle. However, the shuttle does run about every 10-15 min max. The beach is about 5 min walk from the lobby. I dont recommend walking from the hotel since there is a hill. I wish the hotel had more nigh-time activities. The food was very good (9\10). My overall opinion is that you get what you pay for. The sunset and ocean view are breathtaking. I enjoyed my stay and recommend it considering my notes above. I dont get the bad reviews on the hotel in expedia because I didnt have any issues.

Beverages were extremely watered down, barely any fruit at the buffets- was really looking forward to eating lots of fruit on this trip and was disappointed at the selection, had to go purchase it at stores. Otherwise resort was enjoyable to stay at. Staff is kind and helpful.

I had a great time at this resort! Very laid back and quiet. Not much activities and night life is bare minimum. Definitely not for a youngsters. Staff were friendly. Only 1 restaurant, so food choices were limited. Power did went out on our last day, but it was back up quickly! Bartenders very friendly. It’s not terrible, just a different resort experience than the usual. Shuttles are quick for you to get around. Nice beach!

The staff front desk is great and welcoming. There is only one restaurant for b,l&dinner, small variety of food. Also asked for a take out box as we were rushing to the airport on our last day and they said no even though the night before we saw a couple people with boxes. The bed is cardboard. You won’t have a relaxing sleep at all. We stayed in a suite and villa - both beds were terrible.

Old room and facility

The beds are hard as rocks to sleep on. Theirs only one restaurant and you can only eat there during certain times for the all inclusive which is unfortunate, theirs a pool area that has drinks and minimal snacks but that’s it.
Safe had issues had to have security come and take the door off a few times since the code wouldn’t open it. Seeing the door come off so easy didn’t make us feel any better about using it.
They give you a card to get a towel to use during your stay and if you don’t return the towel back you don’t get the card back and then you’re charged for the towel.
At checkout they have the maids make sure your room isn’t ruined etc and if you get the okay then you get another sheet to give to the gate to leave. It was quite a hassle and took even more time away from getting to the airport.
The travel desk charged almost 2x more of anywhere else around. Save your money and look around before paying.

The check in was an hour and half late and the next day when they took the towels they forgot to replace them and we had to call 3x to get more towels

The staff at this hotel were amazing - kind, remembered my name, and very helpful.
The room was comfortable and clean.
The beach down the street was beautiful - the shuttle service that’s included with the stay was very consistent. The food on the beach was great (not included with the stay).
They provide a 3-in-1 soap for the shower (not shampoo and conditioner) so you’ll want to pack your own.
The food was ok - that was the most disappointing thing for me in all honesty. Not bad, but kind of bland. They also don’t serve alcohol until 11am - disappointing for those vacation mimosas.

I found this all-inclusive resort lacking in many ways. When you arrive, it's confusing because it shares space with another resort. You can enter early, but they charge an extra $40USD to eat at the buffet. You can use the facilities, but there's only one buffet restaurant, which doesn't offer much variety. The breakfast was repetitive, with the same options each day. They should offer separate fruit choices instead of mixed bowls, as not everyone likes every fruit. Some staff members were friendly, but others seemed to prioritize white guests. Also, you can't easily walk from your room to the pool; you have to take two shuttles. The rooms were spacious but outdated. Despite the nice facilities, I won't be coming back.

The resort was fabulous! We appreciated the kind staff, food was fabulous, and there were plenty of activities. Our room was just a little warmer than we would have liked. We still recommend this resort to travelers!

Overall the stay was great! There’s definitely room for improvement. The view is amazing and the best for the sunset hands down! The rooms need updating. The beds aren’t as bad as everyone makes them seem in reviews. The quality of everything in the room is dated and needs a face lift. The air conditioning is not good and we had ours the lowest it goes. The doors weren’t really sealed so at night when it was really windy they would be very noisy as they rattled. It was nice that the food was somewhat switched up daily. Bar drinks weren’t that strong so we stuck to long islands. The staff was very very nice! Vanessa the travel agent in hotel lobby was great and very knowledgeable! She even was very quick to let us know when one of our excursions got canceled and helped us look at other options or gave us the option of the money back. The activity staff was very fun and very nice! Don’t skip out on the activities! They had prizes that included bottles is champagne. They take the USD everywhere for payment as most workers in Costa Rica get paid in USD now. Was easy and cheap to get an Uber to get around to other towns. The beach was better than coco beach! Some will say coco is better but the sand there was mucky! Hotel beach (Playa Hermosa) is great! The beach you could take a shuttle that runs around 15min to each stop or it’s about a 5-10 min walk. If you don’t like walking in the 98° weather then just wait for the shuttle. Bring a lot of sunscreen as it’s around $50 USD!

All of the staff were amazing. The property was located right by the beach and close to other adventures nearby. It’s a bit outdated, but still nice. My only concern was the air conditioning is not good and you will be hot even at night.

My stay was great, me and my friend enjoyed the resort to the fullest. Omg the staffs in the restaurant and the bar were so welcoming, Sergio, Marco, they were all great. We had a beautiful view from our room, absolutely the best. And the resort is so nice, just like the picture😍

Very hardworking staff . Always making sure customers were satisfied

The property overall was good. It is an older resort situated on a cliff over looking the water. Parking was free, however, it was not close to our room. Unloading and loading was the only challenge, but it was not a big deal to us. There are a lot of stairs depending on where you are staying to get to your room. They do have a tram that runs every 15 min to help with all the stairs and up hill walking.
