Our experience at OUTRIGGER Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel was confusing, unpleasant, and unprofessional. First, there was a system glitch-possibly related to how hotels.com handles bookings, causing us to placed at the Beachcombers instead of the Reef, which we clearly booked. but the end we received the confirmation for Beachcombers instead. The two stars are purely for the location, as it is conveniently located in the middle of busy and commercialized kalakaua Ave. However, that's where the positives end. The hotel rooms are outdated with poor shower drainage system. Worse part of the experience was paying $50 for valet parking, only to find severe scratch on the driver's side door. The staff were extremely laid-back and dismissive about the situation. We will not return nor recommend this hotel. We Hope Hotels.com can better distinguish between the Reef and Beachcombers in the future.

This hotel is in the middle of the strip everything is walking distance. The Cheesecake Factory is across the street, so many restaurants you can walk to, there's an outside mall with so many restaurant choices and shopping stores. The beach is across the street and it's beautiful. This location is honestly top notch. The staff at the hotel were amazing, cleaning staff came by everyday to clean our room. I was very happy with my stay and I will definitely stay here again.

Overall it was a good experience. I will say the customer service was great. I gave it a 4 because of two things. 1) The pillows were quite lumpy and I had a hard time getting comfortable. 2) Due to my window facing the afternoon sun, the air conditioning could not keep up with maintaining the room a comfortable temperature when the curtains were open. When I first checked into the room (around 4pm) it was 77deg in my room even though it was set to 72. I pumped it down to 68 and closed the curtains, but it took till about 11pm before it finally got down to between 70-72. I had to keep the curtains closed besides early morning and after dusk to prevent the room getting too hot for my liking.

the rooms were nice - but the pool area is REALLY small especially when there are many rooms in this complex. The breakfast wasn't great and when we were sent to the cafe - we were given a menu and then advised we could only pick from a few of these items. very disappointing considering the other reviews. Close to the beach which was nice and the day staff super friendly. However at 11pm the fire alarm went off and we all had to leave the hotel - unfortunately there were no staff to help - my mother had to help another elderly man and as he could hardly move - they sat on a step in the stairwell so he could catch is breath - my sister told a staff member - but still no one came to help. There was no direction for anyone and no one offered any help. finely they made it downstairs and my mother had to ask a security guy for help. he was reluctant ...

My first day of arrival was quite nice because the hostess Kristina was very nice to take the time to find out if my room was ready or not. The only big issue I have, I'm hoping that people can read this and understand, are the neighbors smoking pot, which led the smell into my room and causing me a headache. I'm on vacation too and people need to understand that with all the rooms in close proximity, please have some consideration, or be smart enough to know it's illegal. I don't care if you smoke pot but go elsewhere and let the rest of us enjoy a nice clean air environment. The hostess asked if I wanted to change room but I didn't take up on the offer. I simply told her that if they were to smoke pot again on the third night, I would call security right away.

Was supposed to have a partial ocean view. I couldn’t view the ocean at all. Hotel is terribly outdated. Two lights/lamps in the room weren’t operating. There was a layer of dust on the ornate wood structure as well as dust on the outdated wall art. Several of the bath towels were stained. At 8:30am, there was some type of drilling/construction occurring. Oftentimes, the floors in the lobby and elevator were wet (primed for a patron to slip/fall). I am not sure how this hotel was rated higher than 2.

The location was good, although not right on the beach. The staff members were great, especially Kristina, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. I also thought the people working in the little caffe affiliated with the hotel were very nice. I would recommend this hotel for convenience and comfort.

When I questioned a 2nd $250 non refundable pet fee that I was charged in a 5 day period for a small Tibetan Spaniel who is a service animal and is 100% house trained the manager told me to leave. I obliged without hesitation but the manager had police come to my room to make sure I did so. The police were nice but it was 8pm and I had to find a new place to go which I did and the new hotel (Outrigger) didn’t charge any pet. It was simply a very awful experience I hope to never go through again. For further context, the first night I stayed cost over $700 with this non/refundable fee which is why I questioned it for the second time.

Extra charges for everything. On top of the resort fee theres a daily parking fee. They have a valet option that is on hotel grounds and then they have a self parking garge a few blocks away. Either way your still paying daily. They charge for microwave use and they dont allow outside food/beverage pool side The hot tub jets were malfunctioning. One maintenence engineer was kind enough to turn them on manually. I asked a different guy the next day and he completed ignored the request. I also attemted to get an extra room since the room size was inadequate for my party. I was told I would have to pay a resort fee for that additonal room as well. The add said sofa bed was included and room could accommodate 4-5 people but there was a tiny love seat instead of the sofa bed and the space was tight. This place is more for people without children.
