Nestled in a 1.5 acre canyon sanctuary surrounded by soaring peaks and majestic Saguaro cacti, this "Japandi-inspired," architectural home embraces the natural warmth of Japanese and Scandinavian design. The "Saguaro Canyon" retreat is nestled in a lush 1.5-acre canyon in Paradise Valley, Arizona, an exclusive enclave in the middle of Phoenix|Scottsdale. As you drive into the property, you'll be greeted by a stunning specimen of the Saguaro cactus, or the "Queen of the Desert." This beauty proudly displays 6 arms (home to numerous families of cactus wrens) and is easily more than 100 years old. If you look up into the mountains in all directions, you'll notice the presence of hundreds more of these desert beauties. As you move through the double doors into the private front courtyard, you'll notice subtle Japanese design queues in both the landscaping and the architecture of the home. Professionally decorated with cool tones and Scandinavian simplicity, the interior spaces all boast views of the surrounding desert scenery and plants. The main floor features a gym/lounge/office complete with dedicated workspace, home gym with free weights, straps, kettle balls and yoga mats, and a lounge area with board games; a massive dining table with seating for 10; a full kitchen with gas range, breakfast table and attached full laundry room; a living room with bar and stone fireplace; a double-Queen bedroom with private walled outdoor living room and outdoor shower and en-suite bathroom with shower; and 2 King bedrooms each of which share a full bathroom with tub/shower combination. The second-floor master bedroom features a gas fireplace, private view terrace, King bed, walk-in closets and a spa-like en-suite bathroom with soaking tub and separate shower. The grounds feature a shaded outdoor living room with views of the pool, canyon and city lights; a dining table with seating for 10 and an outdoor kitchen with gas grill, cooktop and refrigerator. Perched above the wash with a young Saguaro overhead, the heated pool boasts plenty of lounge seating and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The professionally landscaped grounds feature a real grass play area, and a wide array of plantings that showcase the range of color, beauty and adaptation of native Sonoran plants. And should you wish to leave the confines of the resort, there are countless eateries, cocktail bars and entertainment just minutes away in the Biltmore and Arcadia areas, or Scottsdale.

Pool heating is available for an additional $95/day, which will give you a guaranteed 84 degree water temperature. Since we have a high-output gas heater, we can heat the pool 24/7 whereas heat-pump water heaters do not operate at night when the air temperatures drop below 40.

We also offer professional chef, as well as on-site massage and private yoga instructor services through several preferred partners. Chef Trenita is professionally trained and can do everything from a curated meal for two prepared on site, to meal delivery. Sebastian, our masseuse, is expert at deep tissue massage and restorative treatments and can set up inside, or outdoors. And Shawnee can guide you through a restorative yoga class anywhere on the grounds. If you're interested in any of their services, please let us know at time of booking and we will provide you with contact details so you may arrange with them directly.

While we want our guests to enjoy all of the outdoor amenities in the home, since the neighborhood is tranquil and upscale, we do not permit any amplified music or boisterous conversations outdoors at any time of day. During quiet hours from 10p.m. - 8 a.m. we do not permit outdoor gatherings, or loud conversations, of any kind whatsoever. Given the placement of the home in the canyon, noise and conversations travels easily up to the homes in the hills and is often amplified due to the acoustics of the canyon. If a party scene is what you have in mind, please stay at one of our local resort hotels.

Everything was perfection! Kara’s home is beautifully furnished inside and out, and filled with so many thoughtful touches that it’s hard to know where to start. From the well equipped kitchen and spotless bathrooms to the super comfy beds, linens and fresh white towels, absolutely nothing was overlooked. But nothing can top the peaceful and private setting in the valley. We felt like we were all alone with only the sounds of the birds to keep us company. There were so many fabulous outdoor spaces to relax in for morning coffee or evening cocktails, or just sit and read (complete with heaters and blankets!) And that’s in addition to the exquisite pool area and outdoor kitchen/dining area. The inside was equally inviting and thoughtfully laid out, no one wanted to leave when our 2 weeks were up! It was also a perfect location, less than 15 min to hikes, great restaurants, golf courses and all the other amenities (and the airport!). Kara and her property manager Adrian were fabulous to deal with and made us feel so at home. We and our adult children and their partners had the best time, and we all hope to be back soon. Definitely a little piece of paradise in paradise valley!!

My husband, mom, 17 & 15 year old and I stayed in this beautiful home for one week and it was a tranquil paradise. The neighborhood is a quiet one with gorgeous residential homes, canyons, and breathtaking views in every direction. When you sit on the patio you have views of the canyons and far off the city lights. It is stunning. There’s even a balcony off the master to enjoy the sun rise. The house is clean, everything you need from coffee and tea to blankets by every couch and bench off the beds, even the scent of the house from the oil diffuser reeds are heavenly. There are plants everywhere in the home, the patio and the landscaping is gorgeous. There’s plenty of space and bathrooms to spread out but also the covered patio with heaters and tv and family room, large dining room and kitchen have plenty of seating to sit and play games like we did or watch movies. The heated pool is large as is the patio surrounded by more plants and landscaping and spent our days here. Just peaceful, sounds of the birds and sun. There’s a lawn to do yoga or throw a ball around and a large fire pit too. The entire house is decorated and so thought out with its decor and design and all the furnishings and towels, linens, kitchen ware..all of it is tied together. If we could have stayed longer we would have and already are talking about when we can come back. I’m not a writer but trust me, I haven’t done it justice. Windows everywhere letting the sun in, a peloton and weights…I could go on:)

I'm not sure where to begin. EVERYTHING about this was amazing.. The communication from the host, the location, the surrounding desert vibe, the quality of the furnishings, the bedding, the omnipresent natural light, the outdoor heaters, the pool area, the fire pit, and on and on. We stayed with our adult children and their significant other and everyone had their own space when they wanted it--multiple patios and sitting areas. It would take some time to mention the countless amenities but if you need something, anything, they thought to provide it. To provide some context -- here's one example of which there are many. Do you want a cup of coffee? They provide a grinder, a Keurig, a pour over kettle, a french press, and a programmable drip coffee maker. Take your pick. You'll never want to leave and really wouldn't have to. This is far more than a place to stay. It's an effortless, first class experience.

A wonderfully decorated house in a lovely setting. It's serene and welcoming with lots of thoughtful touches (yoga mats, outdoor seating, good coffee, spa robes ...) that make it hard to leave. The owner and property manager were super helpful - we will definitely be back!
