About this villa rental
Unique view of the sea and mountains
This villa is unique due to its location on top of a hill with a breathtaking 360° view. Both from the bedrooms and living area, as well as from the spacious covered terrace you can enjoy the beautiful views that the sun-drenched Mediterranean Sea and the majestic peaks of the Sierra Almijara offer. The villa is surrounded by gardens with flowering plants, fruit trees, olive trees and almond trees, a slightly heated swimming pool, a warm relaxation pool and above all an oasis of peace.
Magnificent private villa
The villa from 2003 was renovated in 2021 and is fully equipped. The ground floor (actually the middle floor) has 2 bedrooms, each with a separate bathroom with toilet, a spacious living room with open kitchen, a garden, a renovated heated swimming pool, a relaxation pool and a spacious terrace. The upper floor contains a bedroom, a bathroom and a spacious terrace. The lower floor (below the ground floor, but very open due to the slope), also with sea view, contains 3 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms, a small garden and a terrace.
Comfortable climate
Torrox is known for “the best climate in Europe”: slightly cooler in the summer and slightly warmer in the winter than the rest of southern Spain. When the mercury does rise, Villa Alegre remains pleasantly cool thanks to the covered terrace, the sliding windows, the swimming pool, and the cooling air conditioning in every room. In the few cooler months, it remains pleasant to stay here thanks to the tireless Spanish sun and the heating in every room.
Wake up with a sea view
The bedrooms - each with air conditioning/heating - are decorated in Andalusian style. Almost all of them have a beautiful sea view. Each bedroom also has its own bathroom for maximum comfort and privacy. The bathrooms are fully equipped with a shower or bath, a hairdryer, heating, ...
Living in an Andalusian atmosphere
In the living room on the middle floor, the sofas invite you to watch the news from your home country or relax with your favorite music. Contacting home or watching movies via the internet is no problem, even in this quiet part of Spain, thanks to the free Wi-Fi and the Smart TV. The LCD TV with satellite receiver gives access to more than 400 channels. The rustic decor gives the whole something authentic Andalusian.
Siesta at the pool
The swimming pool (28 m²) is located on the south-west side, so you can enjoy the sun until after 9 pm in the summer months. There is a relaxation pool with a pleasant temperature of 35 degrees and a larger pool that is also slightly heated, so that the water temperature is pleasant from March to November (not available from December to April). A part of the large pool is shallow and can serve as a fun play area for the children. There are enough sun loungers and parasols around the pool to enjoy your well-deserved siesta in peace.
Entertainment for adults
The house and its surroundings invite you to spend your days in and around the house. A game of petanque, a board game, a day at the pool, a day of cooking, ... In the wide area you can relax while horse riding, golf, cycling, enjoy the beach or a walk on the dike and you can soak up the culture in the picturesque villages and vibrant cities. From December to March you can even be on your skis in the largest ski area in Spain: the Sierra Nevada.
Fun for the children
The children have fun at the pool and in the gardens around the house. They can discover toys such as water toys, giant mikado, play blocks, board games, etc. in the cupboards. In the area they can enjoy themselves on the beach, on the playgrounds in Torrox Costa, at the child-friendly fountains on the square of Torrox Pueblo, etc. ...
Nature
The house is surrounded by nature. Nearby is the beautiful national park of the Sierra de Tejeda. A little further you can discover the Alpujarra and the Sierra Nevada, the well-known attractions for nature lovers in Andalusia. And of course there is the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea.
Chilling in the lounge
Before you know it, you are sipping your homemade sangria or local sherry and enjoying your well-deserved holiday in the terrace lounge with spectacular sea views. Here you have no direct neighbours, no traffic, no hustle and bustle. Only the cosiness of your family, your relatives, your friends.
Culinary in the kitchen and with BBQ
Andalusia means tapas, Iberian meat preparations, delicious salads with fried chorizo and so much more. You can prepare all these delicious things in the fully equipped kitchen. The oven, microwave, toaster, citrus press, etc. will help you out. Towels and dishcloths are also available. Of course you also have the BBQ on the terrace. Is the result a mountain of dishes and dirty clothes? The 2 dishwashers and the washing machine are ready. If you don't feel like cooking, you can of course go to the restaurants in the village, or you can pick up complete preparations or even enjoy a chef at home.
Beautiful starry sky
A few hours after you have admired the sunset from the pool, you are treated to a beautiful starry sky where you can even see the Milky Way. With the view of "Torrox by night", you can relax, thinking back to or chatting about the wonderful day in Villa Alegre.
In the heart of Andalusian culture
In addition to Spanish villages nearby, and the city of Nerja, Malaga is more than worth a visit. The beautiful new port site and extremely pleasant car-free city center make Malaga the "Barcelona of Southern Spain". Seville, the capital of Andalusia, shows you the highlights of Andalusian culture. And the Alhambra in Granada is also an absolute must for culture lovers. Cordoba with its Mezquita is certainly also worth a visit. Villa Alegre offers you the ideal base to admire the Andalusian culture.
On the Costa del Sol
A fifteen-minute drive away you are on the beach of the Costa Del Sol. The numerous seaside resorts delight visitors with their clean beaches and extensive infrastructure. In high season you will find the typical pleasant bustle of playing children, walking tourists, restaurants with sunny terraces, ...
No-worry service
You do not have to worry about bed linen, pool towels, bath towels and kitchen linen, everything is available.
How to get there?
Numerous companies (Ryanair, Vueling, SN Brussels Airlines, Tuifly, Transavia, ...) fly to Malaga. Tip 1: If you cannot avoid the school holidays, depart from airports within driving distance in regions or countries that do not have school holidays at that time (for Belgians Eindhoven, for Dutch people Ostend or Brussels). At the airport you can easily take a rental car (suggestions: Record Go, Goldcar, OK Mobility are all perfectly trustworthy). Tip 2: when booking and picking up the car online, don't let them push you to take out extra insurance for the car if you don't really want it. The road from the airport to Villa Alegre takes about 50 minutes. The last part of the road goes into the mountains and winds to the top of the hill. You can reach it perfectly with a normal passenger car, but take into account a steep mountain road at the end.

Our family of 13 people (7-75) spent 11 nights at the villa. Facilities were great and the host welcoming. The spectacular views do come with the need travel through some steep and winding roads, but worth it for us!

This was a perfect choice for our week long visit with extended family. The villa is at the top of a hill and so has beautiful views down to the sea and at the rear the nearby mountains. Also unlike many holiday villas there are no close neighbours so it feels really private and you can truly relax and let the kids have fun in the pool.
The driveway is steep but we quickly got used to it and frequently headed out to explore the area.
Communication from the hosts was prompt and efficient and their property manager Frank was super responsive, friendly and helpful.
Our whole group were really happy with the choice of villa and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Just to start with I wanted to say we enjoyed our holiday and generally were pleased with the villa. Some issues did occur which were down to the property management rather than the owners who have been responsive throughout.
The plus points of the villa are:
- great views and peaceful environment
- well equipped with plenty of space
- internet worked well.
- lovely pool area and relaxing small 'outside bath'
Although I don't want to dwell on the issues I think it is important to mention so that the management can be improved.
- we arrived and were told that we only had 5 of the 6 bedrooms as 'we have made up enough beds for 10 and there are only 8 of you'. Very odd that the management company can decide who sleeps where, what the group make up was and not asking the renters. This caused BIG problems for our autistic daughter and spoilt the first 24hrs until we could find a solution for her.
- during the week the pool turned green with algae...despite contacting the management company we got NO response. The pool cleaners did arrive the next day and have subsequently been told it was due to being short staffed. The pool was out of action for 36hrs which was very frustrating.
- do not underestimate the steep climb to access the villa. We did make it but were told by the management company the day before arriving that we should 'hire an SUV'...you don't necessarily need an SUV but you would feel more comfortable with something higher from the ground.

We had a great time I the house. It’s a great place if you like it quite and nobody els around.
Is was easy to check in and out again.
If I would mention something, it would be nice with some more towels for the kitchen and there is also missing some head cloves for the oven. Also the fridge could be bigger. When the house is for around 12 people one fridge is not much for the amount of food and drinks.
Overall it is a very find place.

My friends and i booked this location for my wifes birthday. Her requests were: Pool/ Peaceful/ Near Sea/ Hot. This property offered all the above! Our party was only six, and given thia villa sleeps 12 we had plenty of space! The kitchen was plenty big enough to cook and entertain, large outdoor table where we enjoyed all our meals, we even used the BBQ three times. What really sold this property for me were the views, we could sea the sea, the sierra nevada mountains, and the pool and hot tub were absolutely perfect- all of this set in a lovely garden which has been nicely landscaped! All rooms were air conditioned so no staying cool while sleeping wasnt a problem! My only request would be that one bedroom door didn't lock and we weren't supplied as many towels as described - but none of these would put us pff coming back! Just a word of advice, I'd suggest hiring your own cad if you stay here as Torrox is a 20 minute drive - but Nerja (which is beautiful) is 25 minutes. I'd also like to point out that you need to be a confident driver to get to the villa, as you need to drive a dirt track which is very steep! It's certainly remote! But thats all part of the charm!

A house that has a fantastic location with an incredible view, high standard of everything in the house, from the rooms to the kitchen, large and lovely pool area where you can spend the whole day without problems. Despite the fact that the house is high up in the mountain, it is very easy and smooth to get down to Torrox (10-15 minutes) where you can find everything from grocery stores to the beaches.
The owners of the house are quick to answer questions 5 stars for Cindy
Will recommend this house to friends and we will definately come back.
