Si, todo limpio, bien situado y completo.

En AC solo tiene una temperatura (te mueres de frío si lo dejas pero te mueres de calor si lo quitas ji) El wc nunca traga bien y algunas veces…no era agradable ver el agua hasta arriba con lo que allí suele haber.

La cocina estaba siempre sucia, la piscina no tiene mantenimiento, el agua lleva demasiado tiempo ahí y solo le ponen cloro! ( vean las fotos)No llegaba internet a la habitación y hicieron nada hasta que al otro día llegaron más huéspedes y reclamaron

Great location and decent room.

Staff were quite helpful. Location is great. Was relatively comfortable, with a fridge in the room & AC.

There was no water on the first day of our trip and no bottled water was supplied. The bathroom was not cleaned well before we arrived, although this was rectified when we asked for a room clean the next day.

Insgesamt guter Aufenthalt mit toller Lage und hilfreichem Personal.

Großes Zimmer und gut Ausgestattete Küche (Herdplatte,Töpfe, Geschirr, großer Kühlschrank usw.) Gesamte Anlage gut gepflegt (Häuser, Wege, Pool) Bar am Pool mit Happyhour.

Leider war unser Zimmer von Termiten befallen. Preisleistung passt nicht

A beautiful oasis just minutes from everything Puerto Viejo has to offer

El Clan is a beautiful property located very close to everything downtown Puerto Viejo has to offer. My room was spacious with great AC and strong wifi, a front porch with a hammock and even a safe to keep valuables like cash and passports. The grounds were large and very well-kept, and in the back there's a large and refreshing pool with an adjacent bar. While there is no breakfast offered, the free coffee & tea was a hit with me, and there are plenty of breakfast options nearby (as well as a well-stocked grocery store). I saw many other guests taking advantage of the on-site kitchen to cook, clean up afterwards and then store their food. The on-site bike rental was both convenient and cheap. I would definitely stay here again! A great choice in Puerto Viejo.

This was the only place in Costa Rica where I was told paying with a credit card would include a 13% charge (they said by their bank). If this true, why was this never the case with anywhere else in the country where I stayed over a 2-week period? Also, because they only had beach cruisers to rent, for a trip down to Manzanillo (which is further down the coast with some hills) I rented a bike with gears from elsewhere and was told by that proprietor that El Clan doesn't allow outside bikes onto the property, which for him meant several stolen bikes (I assured him I would not bring the bike to El Clan). Please either improve the bike quality on site or allow outside bikes to be stored on the property. If you fix the credit card charge (which to me seems suspect) and relax your bike policy, you would have received a 10 rating from me!

Un lugar para relajarse

Lo grande que era, mucha naturaleza, la cocina era muy equipada, quedaba cerca del centro, a veces se veían animales caminando en el alojamiento, la calidad -precio es un 10!

1 que las abitaciones no cuentan con televisión. 2 le pregunté a la recepcionista por la clave del wi-fi y la respuesta fue ya se las di en el check-in como si no me la pudiera desir otra ves. De echo no los la dieron entonses no tuvimos wi-fi 3 cuando se nos entrego la abitacion el basurero del baño no lo cambiaron entonses estaba con los papeles del los visitantes anteriores .

Oase in zentraler Lage

Die Anlage ist schön angelegt, ein toller Pool mit warmen Wasser und Poolbar. Abends kann man noch lange dort verbringen. Die Atmosphäre im Hotel ist entspannt. Zudem liegt das Hotel gut zentral. Zu einem Frühstückscafe geht man 2 Minuten.

Great stay for a short time for reasonable price on the low season

The area is great, the hostel itself is quite large, had lots of seating areas and huge pool! Air con was a great treat. Beds were comfortable and dorm rooms were clean.

Too close to all bars and you can hear music all night long and everyday which was a bit disturbing. Would prefer if beds had curtains as it’s such a small thing for a little privacy and as well would prevent from mosquitoes as in the area you will meet a lot of them. And yes kitchen is super small for such a large hostel, also has limited amount of kitchenware and a bit dirty, not looked after.

Great hostel, would definitely stay again

Lovely hostel, pool party was great and the rooms are clean and spacious. Water in the showers is good and staff are also very friendly and helpful, and the AC was great

Door to the room doesn’t lock but there are lockers for valuables so didn’t matter much. Wifi didn’t quite reach the room we were in but we didn’t mind as we were only sleeping there

Highly Recommended!

El clan is in the center of Puerto Viejo and yet it is quiet and serene. I love the convenience, friendly staffs, nice facilities especially the pool which we thought is a great deal, the AC which for me is a must when you are in a tropical country, the sorrounding trees where you can sometimes find a sloth up close and most importantly it is where I met new friends from accross the world. ♥️ Ive been looking for a comment before if they provide a towel so YES they do and you only need to deposit 5k colones which will be reimbursed when you return it back. Also, Puerto Viejo is located near a lush vegetation so mosquitoes are expected, I suggest you buy a repellant which is available in a nearby supermercado. Overall, I highly recommend it.

Comfortable stay in perfect location. No hostel vibe though!

Perfect location. Nice pool although the music they blast all day is a bit much. AC in dorms is great. Cleaners did a great job and showers/ toilets are nice!

Bit strange for a hostel, much older crowd and place has no vibe. Kitchen is tiny and free coffee/ water is often empty, even after telling staff. Wouldn’t recommend for backpackers unless you just want a room with AC. It’s not cheap either!

Best hostel in Puerto Viejo

The hostel is like a little resort! You will not believe you're in the middle of Puerto Viejo, it feels like you're in the jungle, away from the town. The hostel is actually really well located, 7 minutes walk from the bus station and close to all the action. The vibe there is very nice, and I loved the pool, which was very clean.

The kitchen: there are just 2 burners on the stove (definitely not enough for a hostel this size), and basically no place to cook (cut your vegetable, prepare your things).

Great for Discount!

Friendly staff and volunteers. Sloths so close! One sleeps in a tree at arm's reach. Great pool area with lots of loungers. The water goes out in the town and takes some time to get back. The hostel behind had water and lets you use their toilets, showers, or kitchen if you need. Clean room and kitchen with lots of fridges. Toaster oven! Comfy bed and nice shower. Got a good discount on booking and felt so fancy cuz of it.

Kitchen could use more than 2 stove burners. Wish they provided towels. I think for $17/night discount is fine but if they actually charge more than $30 like it says the original price was, then I'd definitely expect a towel. AC was set to 25-27 so was very warm. My 2nd night I fell asleep under my sheet at 25 degrees and was comfy but it sounded like someone was turning it on and off, (but I didn't see a way to control it ourselves, I previously had to ask at the desk to have it turned on beforehand). So when I woke up sweaty, I saw it was set to 27.

Huge private room, very nice pool

Kind staff showing us around when we arrived. We were surprised by the big pool that wasn’t on the photos: what a treat! Clean water, multiple sunbeds to chill. The room was really big and the bed was comfortable. There is a small fridge in the room as well. Bathroom looked a bit outdated but the shower pressure was really good. The place just reopened so there is some work going on, but that didn’t bother us at all.

The door to our room was open when we arrived, so there were hundreds of mosquitos inside + other insects. The bedsheet also didn’t look clean. However, the staff sprayed anti-insect spray into the room and put new bedsheets on the bed. After that, we had a nice stay.
