About this house rental
Summary:
Lajitas House offers comfort and convenience with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Located in the historic Lajitas Resort, just 30 minutes from Big Bend National Park, 20 minutes from the Terlingua Ghost Town, one mile from Big Bend Ranch State Park, and a short walk to the Lajitas boardwalk. Relax in the shade of our front porch. Prepare your meals in our fully equipped kitchen. Visit with family or friends in our beautifully decorated living room. Retire for the night in our comfortable bedrooms.
The Space:
Lajitas House is in the historic Lajitas Resort area just 30 minutes from the beauty of the Big Bend National Park and 1 mile from the Big Bend Ranch State Park. Both parks have a variety of hikes and some truly spectacular scenery. Be sure to visit the local Barton Warnock Environmental Education Center on the east side of Lajitas for information and interesting exhibits.
Afterwards, relax in the shade of our front porch, enjoy the pristine view out across the shimmering Rio Grande River into the majestic mountains of Mexico or walk down the hill and sit by the river. Enjoy the peacefulness that underlies the Lajitas experience.
Lajitas House is within walking distance to the Lajitas boardwalk which offers shopping and a full service spa. Walk to the historic Lajitas Trading Post, which includes a deli, or to the Candellia, an excellent restaurant on the boardwalk where you can enjoy a meal in rustic elegance outdoors or in. The Thirsty Goat Bar offers a variety of libations in a comfortable and richly decorated environment.
Lajitas House is ideally located for easy access to resort facilities in Lajitas (except the private pool). However, please note that at particularly busy times, the resort may occasionally limit access to the golf course, dining options, or other resort amenities. We recommend that guests check with Lajitas Resort to verify access to any resort amenities they may plan to utilize, including world-class golfing at Black Jack's Crossing, the Agave Spa, and the Equestrian Center.
A twenty minutes drive east and you are in the historic Terlingua Ghost Town. The world famous Chili Cook-off Championship occurs annually early in November. In Terlingua you can enjoy dining at The Starlight Theatre Restaurant and Bar and shopping at the Trading Post.
A short drive west from Lajitas House on the spectacular River Road (Texas 170) takes you through the magnificent vistas of Big Bend Ranch State Park and past historic Fort Leaton to the official border crossing at Presidio. On the Mexican side is the city of Ojinaga, site of the historic Battle of Ojinaga between the rebel soldiers of Pancho Villa and Mexican Federales.
Recently the crossing into Boquillas, a small Mexican border town on the Rio Grande Mexico became a reality. If you choose to make this adventure part of your Big Bend experience, you must have a passport. Boquillos is on the east side of Big Bend National Park. Remember: You must have an unexpired passport.

We had a wonderful and comfortable time in home. View from dining table was spectacular. Thank you for lots of towels. Would have loved a small pool (even if an inflatable one...LOL). It felt like home.

We have stayed at the Lajitas House 6 times over the past several years. It is our go to place in Big Bend. Great location and views, the house is clean and comfortable. Have recommended it to others and we will be back again for sure.

Close to the park.

This is our third time to stay at this home. We keep coming back because honestly it’s so worth it. We saw wild donkeys and hogs from the house. Nothing can beat those views.

Second stay should say it all. Great location and house is well appointed. Great for family and friends to spend time together.

A perfect week of weather for hiking in Big Bend National and State parks! The National Park trailhead to Mesa de Anguillas is worth the short steep hike up to the Mesa. House could use a little more cutlery and a couple more wine glasses but other than that the place is first rate.

We enjoyed our stay very much!

We had a wonderful stay in this place. House was clean, beds and pillows were comfortable, and we had everything we needed. Besides, there is an amazing view from the porch. I would definitely recommend it.

This is our 3rd time staying at Lajitas House. We love the view, you can’t beat the early morning sunrise and beautiful sunset and it’s looking over the Rio Grande!

This place was perfect! We had the best view, a great patio overlooking Mexico, walking distance to Lajitas Resort (Food, Golf, Bar) but far enough away you feel like you have the whole canyon to yourself. We were 5 girls and it was great size and an easy drive to Terlingua/Big Bend. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

Exceeded expectations! Amazing Views of Mountains, Rio Grande River , Mexico and Stars.
Very nice home, clean and great layout.
Highly Recommend.

Our second stay, love the location, and the cozy house.

This was my husband’s and my third time staying here. This time we brought our two grown sons. The weather was perfect. The home is so comfortable and well furnished. The location is ideal for trips all through the area. Boquillas crossing and Dia De Los Muertos are must do on our list. Both were wonderful. Enjoyed watching a herd of over 20 big horn sheep every morning on the plateau? Or is it a mesa? I get confused:) We made a trip with far flung adventures on ATV’s into Big Bend and wow!!!! Also a must do! I personally love your resident tarantula , had fun taking photos of it. This was the first time we went to La Kiva and great!!! Can’t say enough! We entered the chili cook off this time and did not place but it was so much fun! The artwork in this rental by the owner is awesome. Wish I owned some. Overall a wonderful time. Sad we had to leave!

This property was perfect in every way. It was clean, comfortable, with nice decor and close to Big Bend Nat'l Park. Did I mention the spectacular view from the front porch? We thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful home.

Lajitas House is a gem. Beautiful home in a stunning location. We felt very much at peace there and could spend hours relaxing on the porch or looking at the amazing sky late at night. And everything you could possibly need is provided. The owners certainly have the rental business down pat! We hope to return.

We loved our stay here! The views are outstanding. We watched the sun come up every morning looking out at the mountains while laying in bed! House is very clean with everything we needed.

The Lajitas house is a wonderfully located 2 bedroon rental house. It has an amply supplied kitchen and a spacious living/dining room.
Star watching is great from the rock front area. The local rental managers were very responsive to a call to fix the toilet and a couple other minor items.
Internally the house neeeds a makeover to repair loose floor tile, ceiling joint repairs, and new msttresses in non ensuite bedroom.
The price seemed a bit excessive given the age etc.
Overall it is a great getaway location just needing a bit of TLC.

We loved our stay at Lajitas House. The property was clean, spacious, and charming. The location was great, and the home was well provisioned. The artwork displayed throughout the house made our stay special. We recommend Lajitas House to anyone traveling to the Big Bend area and hope to be back ourselves!

My husband, father, three children, and I so enjoyed our long weekend at the Lajitas House. We were very comfortable and had great access to Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park. The view of the mountains and the Rio Grande is breathtaking. Our boys enjoyed playing in the front yard area and finding as many insects and millipedes as we could! We had packed all our groceries in coolers, but there is a general store just a minute up the road with several essentials that filled in the gaps for us when we needed a few items. Our only complaint was that there were no washer and dryer which we weren’t used to. Most vacation homes we’ve stayed at have all had a washer/dryer available for guests, so we weren’t prepared to not be able to wash a few clothes. Other than that, we would love to stay here again and will just bring extra clothes next time!

Our family of four had a WONDERFUL stay at the house. Lots of space and SUCH beautiful views!!!

The house was gorgeous and very comfortable and the views were amazing. I'm giving it 4 stars because there was no wifi and we found 2 scorpions in the house, which is probably typical for the area. But other than that, it was a comfortable stay and a great location.

Home was clean, spacious, across from Lajitas resort which has multiple amenities to take advantage of and a great view. My small group and I were pleased with the stay, communication, and close access to Lajitas Golf Resort which features a restaurant, bar and amazing golf. Also just a 30 minute ride to Big Bend National Park and an even shorter drive to the State Park. Enjoyed the quiet evenings and views of the mountains and Rio Grande. Would stay again.

Everything about the Lajitas House was perfect, from the location to the amenities, check-in, communication, and all the details that went into making the property beautiful. We loved staying here for three nights and will always recommend it.

Great house with wonderful views. Nicely accommodates 4-6. Large kitchen and dining area. Comfortable accommodations. The sunsets and sunrises are beautiful. Great location to take in nearby towns and sights. Be sure to take the scenic drive to Presido and Closed Canyon. BBNP entrance is just up the highway from the rental. Would definitely rebook this rental for my next trip to BBNP. Hosts were great and we had no issues.

A wonderful place to stay. The house was everything we could ever have wanted or needed. Easy access to Big Bend, clean property, plenty of room, super quiet. If you are looking for a place to stay, don't hesitate staying here.

This was our first visit to Big Bend National Park. This is a very unique part of Texas and we really enjoyed the home. It was perfect for us.
10.0
We definitely enjoyed the home and it’s location was as described. We enjoyed walking to the boardwalk and sunsets were amazing!! A few negatives: We needed to dispose of our garbage early on and had to text Kate several times to find out we had to go to “dumpsters in Lajita off road” … hmmmm. Also we lost power due to wind storm and I didn’t know if it was just us so I contacted her to find out it was county wide. I really think it would’ve been very easy for her to contact us and tell us the situation and what she knew instead of me having to call her to inquire. Overall house was clean .. freezer was dirty and cobwebs in the house should be attended to.

Great location for visiting the Big Bend State Park and the Big Bend National Park. Plenty of cooking facilities for eating in. Comfortable beds. Hot water for 4. Good TV options (who needs TV???) for those that had to see the football games. Beautiful sunsets and star gazing. Plenty of parking. Would return.

We loved the location of this property! Views of the Rio and surrounding landscape were unbeatable and unsullied by other properties. We walked to the Rio twice with the kids, everything was great.

Easy communication with owner—everything as described.

This place was great for a peaceful family getaway. All the comforts of home. Sits right on the edge of State Park entrance so you can explore the wild. And back to comforts of home.
Great relaxing view from top of hill while sitting on the front porch. Think I’ll be happy renting again. Thanks for making your home available.

Excellent for Big Bend visit. Comfortable house, pleasant view, nice sunset from patio, easy access to both parks. Enjoyed our stay. Good value compared to the resort & other "fancy" properties in area. House could use a better clean but nothing terrible to report just some spiderwebs in the bedrooms & fridge could be wiped down better. Recommend driving 17 miles to Terlingua grocery for best food selection & a really good pizza place. Overall enjoyed our stay & would recommend to other hikers.

Great spot to start our adventures each day on trails in Big Bend. Would recommend to others for sure.
