Welcome to the Spindrift Sea Turtle (previously The Salty Sea Turtle), a family and pet friendly beachside townhome located in the community of 300 Ocean Mile! Enjoy access to a private beach on St. George Island and take in the beautiful crystal-clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico! Dip your toes in the sand and relax. If you need a break from the sand, take your pick and jump into 1 of 2 large pools located just mere steps from the back porch. Other island activities include onshore and offshore fishing, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, biking, bird watching, and exploring the St George Island State Park. If you get a chance to stay here in the summer, be sure to explore the beach at dawn to get a glimpse of the nesting sea turtles.

Fun Fact! According to Dr. Beach, St George Island was named the nation’s best beach for 2023. He ranks the nation’s top 10 public beaches every year out of 650 public beaches. He describes St. George Island as an “idyllic place” because of its natural beauty, lack of development (no high rises), abundant outdoor activities, and an “unparalleled view” of the night sky.

Hungry for a bite to eat? There are a variety of restaurants to indulge in from beachfront dining featuring freshly caught local seafood and live music to café style eateries for pubs or pizza at the island pizzeria. Prefer to cook at home? There are two grocery markets on the island with a great selection of meats and other items. Also, at only a stone’s throw away, take a quick hop and a skip to Apalachicola. Apalachicola is known for their dining, shopping, and festivals. In addition, it is home to the famous Oyster City Brewery. End your day by relaxing on one of 3 private balconies taking in the sunset or grilling dinner after a long fun filled day on the beach.

*Staying at the Spindrift Sea Turtle*

The Spindrift Sea Turtle features a split-level floor plan with two bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped and updated with new kitchen cabinets, stainless steel appliances and luxury quartz countertops with plenty of seating at the peninsula and in the dining room. The living room boasts comfortable seating for family and friends while watching HD cable or streaming Netflix. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room that pulls out into a queen size bed if you fall asleep during a Hallmark movie or want to have a slumber party with the kids. Feel free to walk out onto the attached private patio and stargaze if the night is clear or decompress by listening to the rhythmic sounds of the ocean waves (both are a must at the Spindrift Sea Turtle!). The second level houses a spacious guest bedroom and main bathroom. This room features a queen size bed, entertainment system and private balcony with ocean views of the Gulf of Mexico. Heading up to the third level, there is a cozy hideaway bunk room with two twin bunkbeds and a washer and dryer down the hall. Get a great night’s rest in the well-appointed master suite which features a comfortable king size bed and private master bathroom. Enjoy ocean views of the Gulf of Mexico from your private balcony.

Also, please take note that the Spindrift Sea Turtle is a 4-level split townhome (including the ground floor entry) with three small staircases (7 stairs) connecting each level (not wheelchair accessible).

Guests have access to all of the Spindrift Sea Turtle, plus all common areas of the community including two pools, BBQ area, boardwalks and beach. The carport fits two cars and extra parking is allowed along the road.

The beach is pet friendly so be sure to bring your fur friends. One pet is allowed under 50 pounds with a $100 pet fee. Please inquire if you have additional pets.

When you complete your booking, you will see a line item called Host Fees. This is made up of two fees, a $150 Cleaning Fee and an Administrative Fee called the Trust and Safety Fee. The Trust and Safety Fee costs $65.89 and includes up to $1,500 of coverage for accidental contents damage and for accidental property damage. We do offer a few types of discounts. They include: a repeat renter and military discount, discounts for stays longer than two weeks, and monthly discounts for December, January, and February. Was perfect location for our family … located at the quiet end of the island … the unit was close to the pool and we could still see the ocean in the distance ! Owners were awesome, and helped us with the little extras along the way ! We enjoyed our stay!

Our family visited for an extended holiday weekend and really enjoyed it. The pool and beach are easily accessible from the unit. The unit itself is updated and clean and has all basic necessities.

The Salty Sea Turtle is an affordable beach front condo that is a good size for two adults and literally a short walk down a boardwalk to the beach. The condo community is filled with friendly retired people. If you don’t have good mobility the Salty Sea Turtle may not be a good choice because three are several stairs and the beds are low but that was not a problem for us. It met our expectations.

We were looking for a pet friendly location on St. George Island that was close to the beach. This was perfect! It had a gated off porch and balcony with ocean views and the walk to the beach was about as close as you can get without being directly on the water. The house was clean, had everything we expected, and the host communication was great! We will definitely look forward to staying here again!

Super happy with the vacation rental. Very clean and well kept. Location was perfect and close to the pool, the beach, the dog walking area and the trash drop off. A big pet peeve is the lack of water pressure in rentals and it was not the case here. Highly recommend this rental and we would rent from here again.

The townhouse was perfect! Location was great! A two minute walk to the beach, pool outside our door, bike trail steps away, 5 minute bike ride to the state park. Had everything one could possibly need. Stayed there for spring break with a 7 and 8 year who did not want to leave. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your lovely home.

The property was very clean and well furnished. The bed mattresses were needing replacing not very good support. Could not sit at the kitchen table the chair's cushions were wore out and very uncomfortable. The washing machine spin cycle was in need of repair, very loud, could break at any time.

I’ve stayed in several condos at Ocean Mile and this was by far the best! The kitchen was very well stocked with whatever you need if you choose to stay in and cook. Very spacious and well appointed! Brett was very easy to communicate with and quick to respond with any questions I had!

Though this property is aged, it was comfortable and easy for the two of us and our dog to manage. Everything was as the property owner stated, though we had no issue with the refrigerator and the A/C was cool at a high temperature. Overall a Comfortable and Nice Property.

We didn’t require a lot so It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay: towels, linens, utensils, silverware, cups, plates, glasses, washer/dryer, coffeemakers, toaster. Front deck has a gate if you bring your dog. Toward end of August it’s pretty quiet in the complex. Lots of dog friendly visitors.

You have to bring everything you might need, so don’t forget things like dishwasher detergent and trash bags. We had a great time—you can’t beat the location right on the beach and steps away from the pool!!

Brett’s place was perfect for our family’s beach stay. The location was close to the pool and an easy walk to the beach. My daughter loved finding lizards on the boardwalks and this became her favorite part of the trip! We loved that our daughter had her own space with the bunk area. The kitchen had everything we needed as well. We had the best week on SGI!

This was our first visit to SGI and we had a really great time. The place was well equipped with everything we needed and plenty of space for our family of 5. We were steps to the pool as well as steps to the beach. The owner was very communicative and made sure that we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend staying here. One note, since this was our first visit to SGI, is that restaurants and shopping are a few miles away from this location. We spent a lot of time in the car which I was not expecting. This is definitely not anyone's fault and I still recommend staying here, but just something to be aware of.

We had a wonderful visit to enjoy ourselves at the beach and surrounding area. Great trails for biking and the fishing trip yielded a great catch. Kitchen very well equipped with enough cooking gear for our meals. Location is perfect and so was walking on the beach! Shelling was a little disappointing but we still kept looking all week... Loved the time spent with our friends who stayed in another unit.
