About this lodge
Welcome to Sweet Retreat and Yurt Farm! A romantic, private four season yurt experience in a secluded piece of nature on our 14 acre property, enveloped by a variety of tall trees and distant view of the farms pasture and barn. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway for two, a family or group experience, the yurt provides 492 sq. ft. of comfortable space with top quality amenities, including Wi-Fi, and is available for all seasons: rain, snow or sunshine. Two Night Minimum on Friday and/or Saturday.
The space
The yurt is 25 feet in diameter, providing 492 square feet of eclectically designed interior living space. With six feet tall walls, it provides for an openly spacious, cozy stay for four persons. A cot or sleeping pad may be requested for an additional person(s).
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire yurt, outhouse/shower, fire pit, surrounding area, walking paths around the farm pastures, two brooks, and pond. Access to the barn animals may be available upon request.
Other things to note
PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION IN FULL BEFORE BOOKING WITH US.
Be mindful that we have multiple animals on our little farm including a barn cat, dog, goats, chickens, and ducks. As such, you may hear animal noises. However, the barn is approximately 400 feet away from the yurt where most of the animals stay.
We have made extensive efforts to make your stay as comfortable as possible. However, the Yurt is a “Glamping” (Glorified Camping) experience. As such, here are some following considerations before you decide to book our yurt:
1. The walkway from the parking area to the yurt is approximately 150 yards long over a grassy path that can be wet, uneven and in the winter covered with snow or ice. Wear appropriate footwear. We do provide a sled to help transport bags in the winter months.
2. The yurt is heated by a wood stove. You will need to build a fire and maintain it in the wood stove to keep warm in the winter months. We provide the tools, the wood and the training for those who need it. If you are away from the yurt all day, you will need to restart the fire to get the yurt back to a comfortable temperature.
3. Yurt guests exclusively have access to the outhouse and shower stall for all bathroom needs. We utilize a composting bag/toilet in the outhouse, and guests must follow the posted instructions related to its use.
4. The outhouse is NOT insulated. It can be cold in the winter.
5. The outdoor shower is available for guest use during the warm months (approximately May through October, or when outdoor temperatures are consistently above freezing). There is a water hose with shower spray nozzle and solar heated shower bags for your showering needs.
6. We DO NOT have hot running water at the yurt. There is up to an 18 gallon container over the sink for cleansing needs, washing dishes, etc… Guests may boil water in the kettle for hot water needs.
7. Guests are welcome to use all items in the kitchen. You may wash cookware/dishware as needed; however, it is not necessary to wash them before you check out.
8. The yurt is located on a farm. Although unlikely, guests may encounter associated sounds and smells related to raising animals during their stay with us.
If you proceed to book a stay, you can expect to have a unique lodging experience that will detach you from the routine and reconnect you to nature and those you are experiencing it with.
Careful consideration has been taken to design and furnish the space to provide you with a comfortable, memorable experience. From the artistic pieces, to the memory foam top bed, cast iron wood stove, and outdoor fire-pit; to name a few.
Clean towels and linens are provided, robes and slippers are provided in winter and there are extra blankets stored in the chest for those extra cold nights. The composting outhouse is just a few steps away from the door. It has a skylight and a solar lamp during night time hours.
The yurt area is private, but you may experience wildlife such as deer, fox, bunny or other sightings. You may see our goats in the fenced pasture from a healthy distance, but you may choose to approach them at the fence, if desired. You will get a sense of what homesteading life is like in rural New Hampshire.
Cell carriers may be spotty. AT&T works best.
Wi-Fi is provided with speeds up to 140 mbps. Currently there isn't a television provided. You may bring a laptop or other screened device to stream your favorite television shows.

COLD SEASON VISITORS
In your reservation request, please acknowledge you have read and understood the three important points below
The yurt is a wonderful and cozy place to be in the cold season. That said, there are some unique aspects to staying in the yurt during winter that you should review and feel good about:
1. Making fire in a wood stove is an enjoyable feeling, AND, you must do it well in order to stay warm. If you have never worked with a wood stove before, plan on reading the detailed instructions we have left you. We would also highly recommend you come before dark rather than late at night.
2. There is a lovely outdoor shower space outside the yurt, next to the outhouse. We DO NOT have running water to the shower space. Solar shower bags are provided. It is useable anytime during the year; however, during the cold months it will likely be intolerable. Soap and Towels are provided.
3. The yurt is about 400 feet (2 minute flat walk) from your parking spot. That said, it's an easy walk, and we provide a pull sled to transport your things during winter.
WHAT TO BRING
We provide all bedding, linens, pillows, robes and slippers (winter only) and towels for the shower. We provide all of the basic bbq/cooking supplies. There is a coffee/Nespresso machine with coffe/coffee pods provided.
We encourage you to bring appropriate clothing and foot wear for the season you visit, including jackets, shoes, beach towels if you will be swimming in the summer, and cozy layers for the cold months (the woodstove works beautifully however), and foods and drinks (coffee, nespresso pods are provided, snacks and farm fresh eggs are provided when in season). Bring your device (i.e. laptop) to stream your favorite shows. You must provide your own subscription account/login.
SUMMER VISITORS
We can provide suggestions in our area for great hikes, swimming holes, paddling spots, and the best ice cream stands. The yurt has a window A/C and high speed fan to keep you cooler during the hot summer months. It is recommended to bring ear plugs to drown out the air conditioner noise on hot nights.

We loved this location! It is only a short drive from Rhode Island which was perfect for a weekend getaway. The yurt was extremely clean and exactly what is shown in the pictures! The land is huge as well as the goats and chickens which were great to feed and pet! Close to local restaurants and gift shops this is highly on my recommendations for places to stay! We will be back!

Reading this review to decide to book or not? BOOK IT.
My husband and I booked this “off grid” yurt to disconnect and reconnect. It did not disappoint! The host provided ample information for check in and we were more than surprised to find that Hector had well thought out the needs of his guests. Games, books, tea, coffee, water for drinking, cookware, even down to wipes and outdoor shampoo.
It was pleasant and peaceful to listen to the birds, start a fire and make s’mores (provided by hector!) and watch the goats from a distance.
My husband and I left feeling recharged and thankful to get away. This is a hidden gem that provides all of the privacy and nature: you just have to show up!
Thanks again, Hector!

The Yurt was clean, everything that you need to stay is provided. The host was super friendly, and it was a great pleasure to see his farm animals as they were friendly too.

We had a really nice time in the yurt– it's beautifully decorated on the inside, very cozy and the hosts were super nice and welcoming. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Right from the beginning my communication with the Hector left us with a feeling that a wonderful experience was just ahead.
The details and information were thorough. The one main thing that came across was the feeling that we were going to get once we arrived at the farm.
How true this was! As we enterred the farm animals greeted us upon arival. As we walked to the Yurt there was a beautiful stream flowing to the left of path.
As we entered the Yurt we noticed how beautifully designed and spacious it was! It was meticulously designed. Everything we possibly could need was thought of including lighting, wood stove, decor, essentials. This gave us such a feeling of warmth and total relaxation.
The attention to detail and visual beauty including the circular skylight, lighting was also spectacular!
We were able to personally meet Hector as we left and everything could not have gone better! He wanted to make sure we were satisfied at every level and we certainly were! What a fantastic experience! This is going to be our get away for Many years ahead.
With warm regards, Sue & Tom
