The hotel is perfectly situated in the center of Amsterdam, it was clean, and the staff were very nice, especially Sri at breakfast. However, the rooms are incredibly small and the bed was probably the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever experienced in a hotel—very hard.

The best thing about NH City Center Amsterdam is of course the location. One thing you should pay attention is that as you see on their wesite picture there are several steps that may be too much for some people. I think they have another entrance but the main published address will take you to the stairs at the entrance. That didn't bother us that much but another issue that made our stay some how unpleasant was that they changed the room that I had reserved (not requested but actually a reserved room) AFTER the deadline for cancellation with full refund. I was travelling with my two adult sons. I had specifically selected the "Standard Triple" which based on the hotel descriptions and pictures is a room with THREE twin beds when I made the reservation AND also explained to them at the time of reservation that we need three separate beds. The hotel gave itself the liberty to change my room to a queen bed and a sofa. They informed me two hours AFTER the deadline for fully refundable cancelation. I found that unfair business practice. NH City Center did not deliver what I had reserved and paid for. At the time of the check in at the hotel I reminded the receptionist about my choice of room and she said "yes, I see you have requested a triple room" and pretended that was what we were getting. Again, the type of room was not a request, it was a RESERVATION.

The front desk staff were hit or miss ( sometimes good sometimes clueless). We arrived early on our day of check-in and went up to the front desk several times to see if our room is ready. Every time we would go up, they would act as if they didn’t know who we were and we would have to explain the situation all over again, despite talking to the same people we were exhausted in sleeping on the couches, but when our room became ready, they did not bother to come and tell us, even though we had been asking several times and were desperate to get into our room. Breakfast was amazing. I highly recommend it and it is a good value. The area surrounding the hotel was very safe and quiet and the room with four beds was perfect for our family, although it was up a steep flight of stairs with no lift with no lift, the air conditioning in the room did not work as well as we had hoped, but the room was clean and the linens and the beds were comfortable .

We had a fantastic stay here. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcomed. Check-in was easy and the staff made us feel right at home. They were able to accommodate our request for a queen bed instead of two twins. The hotel is located in a great spot that let us easily walk to most of our destinations and was also conveniently located near transit stops when we needed to venture farther. Our room was quiet and well furnished with a great view of the canal and good amenities. We felt very safe in and around the hotel. We found the bed and pillows to be very comfortable There is a fully stocked pantry with self-checkout with snacks, beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), toiletries, power adapters and cords, etc. The room was very spacious and didn't feel cramped at all. The AC worked great which was a welcome relief as we had been traveling during a heat wave and are from a Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and found it to be a great value for the price especially compared to other places we stayed on our trip. We'd definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others!

Black mold was found in our bathroom shower/tub (room 525). Staff from the hotel wanted medical information from my doctor in order to provide any type of resolution which is ridiculous and unacceptable. Despite providing photo evidence of the black mold, they are not doing anything about the situation and it has caused an exacerbation of respiratory issues. Disgusting
