I liked the overall service mainly at the front desk assistance. The pool area was nice and spacious. Staff was always helpful and being able to book tours in the property was a great convenience. The only thing I was a disappointment about was finding out that there was a limit in the quantity of people to receive at the restaurants. Multiple times we went to a restaurant and we weren't able to be seated with not option of waiting for a turn.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Riu Guanacaste. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The shower was a little slippery and would be difficult for anybody w any limitations or small children. The restaurants were average. Tucan and Tuscana were the best. The drinks were delicious and plentiful. Staff was kind and helpful. The beach was beautiful! The ocean is clear and we were able to see many different types of fish. The grounds at the hotel were clean and also well maintained. The pool was spectacular! We will be back!!

The food wasn’t edible. Not a large variety of food. I felt like we got the left overs from the Palace which was next door.

This was our second time to the Riu. Everything is so accessible, beach, restaurants, activities. Great place to stay for kids. If you want to do excursions, speak to Daniel on the beach, he hooked us up on a fishing trip and we were able to bring the fish back to the resort to eat. Chef De La Cruz outdid himself and cooked the fish to perfection, best I’ve ever had. The staff at Riu are super nice and always willing to make your stay enjoyable. The shows at night are a great way to end the day. I will be back for sure!

Great stay. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Only complaint was at checkout. They wanted us to keep our driver waiting so we could go to pool towel area to get our pool cards instead of just accepting our towels as we were unaware of that and had already had to go and retrieve the 4 towels we had left in the room. They did end up taking the towels so we would not be delayed as we were heading to the airport.

Everything was perfect except that we didn’t had any drinks on our room until yesterday that it was refilled because we ask the staff to do it

The hotel is in a middle of nowhere,. It's quiet but the rooms and the elevators need renovations.

The rooms are outdated. To get into the shower you have a very high ledge to climb over. The shower was super slippery, needless to say we had a fall. The towels are old faded and coming apart at the seams. The food was limited on certain nights. To get beach towels you need a card that was not given to us on day 1. Day 2 I inquire about the cards and I’m told that they ran out and didn’t have any left. How do you not have enough cards for the amount of guests staying? So there are two days we couldn’t dry off after a swim. Don’t get me started on the beach. As you make your way to the beach you are greeted by all these vendors. They harass and follow you throughout the beach, couldn’t enjoy the beach at all. For me this resort felt like a forgotten part of RIU chain. Would not recommend.

I stayed with my family to celebrate my birthday. When we arrived on a Friday we were surprised to the amount of guests staying here. Just be mindful that this location is extremely crowded Friday thru Sunday. You won’t find seats when dining or any chairs by any of the pools. I was hoping we would get someone around the pool area walking around asking us if we wanted a drink. We didn’t get that. We did not need reservations to the restaurants but one thing I noticed is they make you wait over 30 minutes for a table but they have tons of tables available which I didn’t understand. Overall i would probably not return to this location but one thing I will say is the entertainment was a 10/10.

The hotel in general was excellent. It was in great condition and extremely clean. The grounds were immaculate. The dining options were very good and the food at all restaurants including the daily buffet was excellent. The daily buffet had a few different options every day and was not exactly the same food daily. The pools were very clean and there were plenty of lounge chairs by the pool and at the beach. The house keeping service was excellent. The room was. Try spacious and had a large balcony. Sodas and water were replenished daily in the room refrigerator. The only negative about the room was the bed. The bed was very firm. A couple of negatives included the main entertainment stage in the evening catered to the kids with a children’s movie showing nightly. In my opinion, it should cater more towards adult entertainment at night. Also, during the “white party” a violinist played the violin to the tune of the electronic/dance music for about an hour and it was horrendous. The beach was beautiful and plenty of chairs on the beach. However, local vendors start hounding you as soon as you step onto the beach. But, they don’t follow you and do leave you alone. Overall, the hotel is excellent. We will be coming back.

The room was very dated. Staff unfriendly.
Tv in the room was too small and showed a fuzzy picture. The light in the bathroom, over the shower was not working. The room was never cool enough with the AC running nonstop. The drinks were wateres down. The food was horrible.
