The park offers plenty of walking, cycling, boating, and bird-watching opportunities. It is a unique peatland area, once used for peat extraction, but now an essential habitat for various animal species, including the rare bittern and otter. Weerribben-Wieden is perfect for nature lovers and tranquillity seekers.
In ten minutes, you are in Meppel. The city has several interesting sights, such as the historic city center, the canals, and the Art House. It is also a good place to shop or relax on a terrace. The Hasselterwijde is a nature area near Meppel that is nice for a walk or a picnic.
