Very comfortable and modern. We were able to bring our small dogs with us and no additional pet fee.
Construction in Downtown Austin made it very difficult to get to the hotel.
4.2
Clean and the decor is lovely.
The noise and staff who didn’t know basic info about hotel, as in where the ice machines were and that there are no porters until 11 a.m.

Location
Nice room

No view at hotel.
Pool was too small, wasn’t able to get in pool because of so many people in it.

The ambience was lovely! The view with the surrounding construction was horrible. I booked a room with a city view and I did not get that view. My view took in the side corner of the hotel and the corner of Rainy street. Inside the hotel again the ambiance was amazing, very beautiful!
Construction surrounding the property! Ice was not a convenience as it was not available on our floor thus having to call staff to bring up ice was weird! The pool area was very compact for such a grand hotel resort! I did not feel the amenities fee was necessary as there was a lacking of amenities. No hot tub, a crowded pool, no pool side lounging area available for lounging. It was just too compacted! My bed was not soft as I prefer and was expecting a very soft plush bed. I was expecting robes as pictured. Two chairs for two guest as pictured.

Excellent and friendly staff and the hotel is clean and beautiful. The suite was excellent as well.

Staff all so nice and friendly/professional. Location, Geraldine’s with live music. Great cocktails. Nice room. Gym and pool fantastic!!
Halls and areas outside elevators need a little detailed vacuuming in the corners and where the carpet meets the wall.
4.2
All facilities and staff were very good. Most of the Reception staff were very pleasant and helpful, and the bar staff were great! My room was very comfortable & quiet (apart from the construction noise). Geraldines Restaurant had good food and live entertainment every night.
Construction was going on all around the hotel, so it was very noisy and dusty. Also I think I've been overcharged and have emailed the hotel querying this, so hopefully it will be resolved.
4.2
Very nice hotel & nice staff! The room itself was very spacious and beautiful

Great location. Easy to get to. Wonderful, friendly staff. Beautiful hotel, we’d definitely stay at the Van Zandt.

did not try
valet parking not clear on cost. extremely expensive

Front desk surprised my husband with an awesome birthday card, alcoholic beverage and snacks in hotel room. Everyone was very nice and can’t forget free margaritas
Wish self parking but valet was still super fast and friendly

The rooms are large, and the beds are very comfortable. The staff were all so nice and professional. The shower was great with an easily adjustable temperature.
All of the "hidden" fees. The incidental fee is $200 per night and the overnight parking was $191 for three nights. They could have been mentioned somewhere, but I was not told about these fees until I checked in and checked out.

Valet parking
High price to suit my comfort

It was packed of many surprises, they charged $63 each day for parking, plus $30 mandatory a day also for food and liquor (margaritas they said and we don’t drink), and the last surprise, they charged us for food from the mini bar, we never even touched anything about it

My friends and I booked this hotel for a short staycation. The hotel is beautiful and modern. We loved the pool and gym. There is a lot of construction going on in the area, however, we were still able to walk to local restaurants and the food truck park. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We would stay here again in the future.
4.2
Location has access to many restaurants and downtown nearby
There was some construction work going on near the hotel and music could be heard from outside. Hotel room recommendations were shared with the management.
4.2
The staff made us feel extra special because we were celebrating our 10th anniversary. They upgraded our room and sent up a bottle of champagne and truffles with the sweetest card! The accommodations were fantastic. The pool was fun. We really had a great time!
I think the food from the pool seemed a little overpriced. But otherwise, we loved everything about our stay!
4.2
- Location and decor are great.
- Parking is convenient and reasonable (for the location).
- Most of the staff are nice.
- A-la-carte breakfast food is good in taste and presentation.
They're lacking in some very basic and specific things which most hotels (even with fewer stars) have figured out.
- No coffee machine in the room.
- Sliding bathroom door was difficult to open and close. The pocket door handle is fine for most of the way but for the last few inches where you can't use the handle and have to close the heavy door with your fingertips on the latch.
- Check-in was a bad experience. We had booked three rooms and requested extra beds in two rooms. The messages in the Booking.com app indicated that the hotel acknowledged the request, but upon arrival, we were informed that extra beds could not be added due to fire regulations. That's okay, but when I asked about the messages in the app, he said that it wasn't the hotel that responded but Booking.com and, "anyway it is only a request." Anyway, then I requested extra blankets, which he said he'll have sent to the rooms, but hours went by, no one brought them, and we had to ask again. Also, while checking us in, I turned away for a brief moment when he was doing something on the computer, and when I turned back, he was already checking-in other people before our check-in was complete. The others were also offered a free drink upon check-in, but we weren't.
- We went to their restaurant for breakfast one morning and were only offered seats at the bar (for six people). They said that all the tables were reserved and, "in ten minutes this place will be full." Half the tables remained empty the entire time we were there (over an hour). I don't see any reason for them to lie, and they probably weren't, but this is bad for their own business if they allow all the tables to be reserved and have >50% no shows.
