Lovely rustic weekend in WV

Very peaceful setting in the woods by a big lake. beautiful entry as you come in and decent size clean room overlooking lake. Excellent food at Stillwaters. Nice indoor-outdoor pool with poolside bar for drinks and food. Nice big TV in room and able to connect to personal Netflix account. Shower had great water pressure and appreciated having full shampoo and conditioner dispensers instead of tiny bottles.

The pool wasn’t nearly large enough for guests, not enough pool chairs by far. And perhaps need more massage therapists — even calling a week in advance was not enough to book a massage for any time in our 3-day stay. The decor in the room was a little dark/rustic for a high class resort, the bed was and pillows were too soft to sleep comfortably.

My husband & I travel annually to this location to just have a few nights to go over our "year in review"... finances, scheduling, etc. We enjoy that it's quiet & not crowded during this time and we LOVE having the outdoor hot tub practically to ourselves. We love the location of the property, we love the beauty of the property and we love the Hallmark feel of all the holiday decor. We love eating at TJ Muskies, but miss the Steak/Gouda/Peppadew pizza on the menu. Service there was great!

Last year when we were there, we were a little bummed that the jets weren't working in the hot tub, but we understand things happen. This year, on the second day, the jets weren't working again, which makes us believe it's an ongoing issue that just isn't addressed. We were disappointed that the coffee lady wasn't there either of the two mornings that we were there. We were told the first day that she lived somewhere further away & couldn't make it in. I understand that maybe there was bad weather where she was (there was a dusting of snow at the resort that morning), but by the second morning, everything was clear the entire drive back to Pittsburgh, so I'm not sure what the reasoning for that day was. Yes, we could go downstairs & get to-go coffee from the restaurant, but we love getting our specialty coffees from her! In the bathroom, the shower gel was completely empty. It was just "little" things here and there that seemed to be lacking, but it definitely felt like since the guest count was down, so was the service and the upkeep, but if we are paying resort prices, the quality and service should be there as well. I quickly addressed this with the front desk prior to leaving and they asked if someone could call me. I had a voicemail from someone the next day, but my returned call to her was left unresponded to, which again, just made us feel like it really didn't matter anyways.

Super clean and always a nice place to stay.

We stayed on the 4th of July so it was very busy. My boss rented a patio to watch the fireworks. They forgot our food so it was cold. Which is understandable with how busy it was.

Nice Stay

The location, our lake view from the room, staff always said hello, that it is pet friendly, the indoor/outdoor pool and hot tubs, the fire pit.

Curious why all the newer orange pillows, which most were on the ground, but the ice bucket in the room looked like it was 10 years old. Lodge is not easily navigated. Not much to be done I guess but maybe more signage??? Pet fee was high compared to other places we have stayed. I think the brown blankets on the beds date the room. We asked via email for fresh fruit and chocolate covered strawberries and were told it was taken care of. Received truffles instead of strawberries. We should have been asked if we wanted the truffles because we would have said no thank you. Lastly, when u run out of towels at the pool-which shouldn't happen-giving guests the excuse of a broken dryer is probably TMI and undermines the whole "resort" feel. Just tell guests when they can get a dry towel. Maybe have one of the 3 people at the counter take some out to the pool to hand out to those that need them instead of guests having to keep watching the door to see if someone comes thru with a towel??? In a nutshell, the place doesn't seem like a resort...higher end hotel, not a resort.

Beautiful property, terrible service

The property has everything going for it, beautiful scenery, fun activities, relaxing common areas, room was clean and comfortable, etc.

The service. Terrible, terrible service. The lady who checked me in was so unwelcoming and unfriendly, like her job was a chore and me checking in was a burden to her. The hostess at the restaurant, who refused to seat me for no good reason. I understand if they are understaffed and at full capacity, or if there are incoming reservations, however this didn’t seem to be the case. She told me to come back later and when I returned 10 minutes later, another girl was able to seat me fine. When I finally sat down, the menu offerings were terrible. For such a beautiful and higher end resort I expected ALOT more. The server failed to greet me with water and I waited about 20 minutes until I got a glass of wine, not to mention their by-the-glass wine list had absolutely no variety, the server was very unknowledgeable about the menu offerings, the server also messed up my order, which was a burger and salad - tasted terrible. And when he did finally bring my food, I had to stand up to find him to get silverware and a napkin. Bottom line - I expected a lot more from the service side of things along with their F&B offerings.

the food was very good and staff were very nice.

we went there specially for the pool and once we got there, they told us the pool was closed. no mention of it on their website or anything. we wanted to to participate in other activities but everything else was closed or closed at 5 when we had to check in at 4pm. disappointed. the location and staff were great however.

All wonderful until check out!

Very beautiful

When I checked in I was not in their system and she had to pull it up from Booking.com and make reservation. The price on booking.com included the price of resort fee and taxes. But when I checked out they charged me more taxes and resort fee again. Over charged me about $111. When I questioned them at the desk they said it was booking.coms problem. When I have a day to spend on the phone I will be calling the manager!

Perfect for a couples getaway in the winter.

The outdoor heated pool and hot tub were just right for a chilly evening. Food was excellent, we had beet salad and a vegan pizza.

It was my 50th birthday and the pool was supposed to close at 11:00 but it seemed like everything on the TV was absolutely wrong they didn't offer none of it. However I went down at 10:30 and there was this gentleman who went and opened the pool for me so I could spend 15 minutes or so in the hot tub that made my whole trip and he was so pleasant and I'm so sorry I don't remember his name

There was no microwave in the room. And I informed them before I even arrived that I was there for rest and that I had a broken hammer toe I had to walk all the way to the front desk to get anything I needed. There was no room service as they promised. the parking totally sucked.

was there begging of December for a moms weekend away. it was so relaxing with beautiful settings to enjoy inside and ou

beautiful facilities. amazing views & atmosphere. food in Stillwater was delicious! most importantly one of the best groups of staff members I’ve interacted with in awhile. everyone was so friendly and helpful from front desk to waitstaff to housekeeping & management. they took their time to answer all questions. they stopped to say hello and ask how you were doing or if you needed anything. just felt so welcomed there!

rooms were a little dated. you could tell they did some upgrades but could still use a few more. also when we originally got there we were given an adjoining room and it was a very thin door. you could really hear the people on the other side just talking. on the plus though they were super helpful in switching us without problems. we were there off season too so that helps. if you care about this during busy season I recommend calling ahead to ask for a non adjoining room.
