Looking at the previous reviews there is obviously a problem with the family room we were given, it is almost basement like and suffers from a lot of damp. There was a strong almost overwhelming smell of mold in the room, and unfortunately the bathroom had a serious issue with ants.
This doesn’t seem to be the case in the other rooms, so hopefully this room can be sorted out.

De kamers waren heel erg smerig. Overal zat schimmel, op het plafond, de muren, kozijnen, zelfs op de klamboe boven het bed. We hadden dit hotel gekozen vanwege de positieve reviews, maar ik verbaas mij dat niemand hier iets over schrijft. We hebben genoeg kamers voor deze prijs gehad die wel schoon waren. Daarnaast was de matras doorgezakt.
We hadden een yoga les voor 10 dollar pp geboekt, maar het was zeer basic. De yoga instructrice liet ons een paar rek en strek oefeningen uitvoeren. Absoluut geen 10 dollar waard!

Wir hatten das Kandyan House ausgewählt, weil wir eine Unterkunft gesucht hatten, die zentral in Kandy liegt, aber nicht durch den Straßenverkehr gestört wird. Diese Voraussetzungen erfüllte die Unterkunft. Es ist absolut ruhig und die Sehenswürdigkeiten wie Kandy Lake oder Tooth-Tempel sind fußläufig erreichbar.
Wir wurden von der Gastfamilie herzlich in Empfang genommen und wir durften ein großzügiges Zimmer beziehen, das traditionell eingerichtet und sehr sauber war. Das Bad war ebenfalls groß und es fehlte uns an nichts.
Alle waren sehr bemüht, uns den Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu machen.
Das Frühstück wurden von der Gastgeberin persönlich zubereitet und war sehr lecker und reichhaltig. Es blieben keine Wünsche offen.
Die Hilfsbereitschaft und Freundlichkeit der Gastgeber kann nicht oft genug erwähnt werden. Leider sind wir schon nach 3 Tagen weitergereist. Aber für uns steht jetzt schon fest, dass wir wiederkommen werden. Von uns gibt es eine 100%-Empfehlung.
Es gibt aus unserer Sicht nichts zu kritisieren.

Un accueil merveilleux avec une propriétaire adorable parlant très bien français. Les petits déjeuners sont copieux, variés et faits avec des produits frais. Les dîners sri lankais sont délicieux et pas trop épicés. Tout est fait pour que l'on sente bien, comme à la maison. Prendre ses repas et petits déjeuners sur la terrasse du yoga café est appréciable. Un grand merci!

L’accueil formidable, la propriétaire aux petits soins pour nous qui étions malades, et le petit déjeuner extra. Jolie maison typique au calme, un peu à l’écart de la ville.
La chambre un peu petite et la salle de bain vétuste, mais pleinement en adéquation avec le prix payé.

There was a lot of character with old wooden doors and original features and it had a welcoming feeling and friendly owners and staff. The walk from there along the lake was the best part of visiting Kandy. The yoga cafe had an interesting range of herbal teas and I had a wonderful banana lassi. I would certainly go back…it’s perfect!

La propriétaire de la guest house est très attentive aux attentes des clients. Nous avons pu réaliser le Check in beaucoup plus tôt que prévu et avons profité d’un très bon petit déjeuner. La maison a gardé le cadre typique de la vie au Sri Lanka.
Les coussins décoratif sur le lit sentent l’humidité malgré qu’ils soient propres.

Das Zimmer ist sauber und liebevoll eingerichtet, die Besitzerin ist sehr freundlich und bereitet auf Wunsch Abendessen und Frühstück. Warmes Wasser und Wlan funktionierten einwandfrei. Das Hostel ist sehr ruhig und trotzdem nicht weit vom Zemtrum entfernt. Ich habe mich sehr wohl und sicher gefühlt und würde jederzeit wieder kommen.

The atmosphere was absolutely amazing. It’s as if you enter a museum! A unique homestay, very clean, with a mosquito-net and all you need, with very friendly and helpful owners, and so close to the lake! I definitely recommend it!
The only thing, if I need to mention anything, was that the bed was a bit hard. I slept well, though, so it was not a real issue.

Stayed for 2 nights. Staff was super friendly, provided a lovely welcome tea upon arrival and the free breakfast was nice and fulfilling. It’s an older style home with a few rooms, which brings a certain rustic charm. Staff live in some of the rooms so there’s always company if you’re solo. AC worked well and there’s a really yummy tea shop next door. Comfortable stay overall!
While old style homes bring charm, they can be a little dark. Adding a lamp to the room would be nice :)

Kandyan House is a magical place with interesting interior. The family is just the best. There are such welcoming people and always willing to help. It is worth booking even just to meet them :)

Had such a great time here! Kush gave me a warm welcome and was always ready to help. The rooms are nice, clean and have everything you need. It’s right next to the lake, I could get about on foot which was a big bonus. Extremely lovely family and the breakfast was also so good.

Srilanka is experiencing economical difficulties. Do experience occasional power cuts. However no more then 30mins! There is a delightful walk down to the town proper. Railway station, bus station.

Kush and her husband were very welcoming. Their guest house is beautiful and full of lovely old family furniture. Kush was very kind and helpful always asking if i would like coffee or needed anything. Breakfast was big and super delicious. They have two dogs and a cat who are super cute. The guesthouse is at the quiet end of the lake and a very easy walk into town along the lakeside off approx 15 mins. Kush had lots of helpful information on both local and further afield sites. Their tuktuk driver Amara is also lovely and can arrange both local and long distance trips. A lovely place to stay! 🙂🐾

The house, the room and the hospitality were outstanding. The location is perfect to visit Kandy and the surrounding areas. The wifi was very fast and I could work on my laptop. I had the best breakfast in a month spent in Sri Lanka. Highly recommended to anyone staying in Kandy for one or more months, even for a long stay.
