The region is lovely, but you notice the poor economic situation (roads, buildings,…) The trulli was in our opinion not reflecting the pictures we saw online. It was a lot smaller, the rooms were less “inviting”. In general the state of the house was poor (needs painting, mosquito nets on the doors in poor state, only 1 fan for 2 rooms,…). Equally for the swimming pool, it is not well maintained (green markings on all sides, terrace in poor condition). Water condition (ph level?) not good in our opinion. Loose dogs in the area (coming to our terrace, emptying our trash during the night) and an elderly man who works in the olive tree garden showing up all of a sudden and asking for a beer… We nevertheless enjoyed the stay, but it was not up to our expectations.

My family and I had a fantastic stay in this trullo, which has a great pool and nice rooms. Everything was perfect and I would recommend choosing the house as holiday home for a holiday in Puglia.

The Trulli is a nice villa. Thick walls keep it cool in summer and the pool is wonderful. Enough sheets and towels are available and the house manager is prompt in his communication. Some comments: The description mentioned a BBQ, which was unfortunately not available. We stayed for 11 nights without a change of sheets and towels. It is a nice place but the equipment is a bit shabby for the price. The knives in the kitchen were blunt and broken, there were no scissors and the frying pan was so damaged we couldn't use it. The pool has some algae growth. No big issues, but for the price we expected more quality.

Really enjoyed our stay here, the villa is remote, you do need a car, and the roads are quite narrow when first approaching... but once youve navigated the roads a few time they offer little difficulty. The accomodation is charming, rustic but somehow has everything you need, the wifi is exceptional and the pool is a god send in the heat we had. 38 most days!! The villa gives you a true puglian experience, and makes you slow down a bit, long breakfasts by the pool, afternoon swims when the heat was to much and evenings listening to crickets whilst we ate, Our kids loved this place and often went on lizard hunts around the grounds. Places are nearby, castellena 8 minutes drive, alberbello 15, monopoli 25, locotorondo 25 etc. We didnt want to leave, and we will happily come back again if you will have us?!?!?! Communicating was easy, we had good contact from david before we went, and on the morning he called to confirm our number was correct. Aleandro his man in italy was communicating with us and was available if we needed him, he even came to our rescue when we blew a tyre in castellena on a sunday afternoon! Thank you!

The house is situated in a beautiful landscape, absolutely private. It is a wonderful quiet atmosphere and the large pool provides refreshments in between. It's quite possible to undertake from Centrone Piccollo a number of interesting tours.

Firstly, the ‘check in’ was a disaster having been requested, just as we were about to leave our home on the Thursday, to arrive at the meeting place at 1300 instead of the arranged time of 1600. En route to the property we received a text asking ‘where are you?’ We told him we would arrive by 1530 - he changed the meeting place to the property. We arrived at the property at 1530, no sign of anybody, no mobile signal at all. Had to drive about 3 miles to obtain signal. He told us he was at the property but he had not been there when we had arrived. The meet and greet was rushed and totally unacceptable. The ‘welcome dish’ of tea bags, coffee etc. was a joke. The tea bags were actual mouldy!! Our first impression of the trullo was one of disappointment - an unkempt driveway, untidy pool area and a hornet’s nest in the base of an olive tree, adjacent to where we had to park the car, was disconcerting. We were told that the pool had been cleaned that morning. We realised when the pool man came during the week that this was totally u true. The trullo was quite nice but one dishwasher tablet, an almost empty bottle of gunky washing up liquid, no decent dish cloths and 1 toilet roll meant we had to buy all these items for a 7 day holiday for 2 people. Each of the bedrooms had a large chandelier with approx 20 bulbs - both had only ONE candle bulb working. The wall sconce in the main bedroom didn’t work, the bulb in one of bedside table lamps failed on the first night and there were no replacements to be found. The sockets throughout the trullo only supported lamps and had smaller pins than the adaptors we had brought. In order for us to charge iPhones, iPads etc. meant we had to purchase an adaptor with thinner pins at a cost of €25. Hairstyling items could not be used - that is, until my husband discovered that the toaster had an adaptor that we could use. The pool area could have been very nice if tidied up, although the paving stones around the top of the pool were loose and dangerous. Also, the ladder for exiting the pool was also loose and very dangerous. Although the temperatures were in the high 20’s to low 30’s whilst we were there, the pool remained freezing cold. One issue which worried us a great deal was that the trullo is very isolated and not being able to obtain a signal for mobile phones was a huge worry. If either of us had been taken ill, or fallen we would not have been able to contact anybody. Overpriced!!

The Trulli itself was an experience. It was clean (a cleaner came in once a week) and had pretty much all amenities. From a location point of view, it's pretty much out "in the hills" so getting out to the next town or beach was usually a 30m drive depending on where you are headed for. Mosquitos, flies and wasps were the norm but that didn't affect us too much as we were pretty glad for a bit of peace and quiet. In fact, every morning we did get woken up by chickens crowing and once a neighbors dog even wandered into the yard. Check-in was a breeze and Alesandro (the person who checked us in) was really nice, friendly and helpful providing us loads of tips on what to see and visit. We arrived at a time when the surrounding farmland was being sowed, with the result that really fine reddish soil ended up in the pool. Alexandro made sure that the pool guy arrived promptly to get it cleared up. By the way, even the pool guy was super friendly and nice. Speaking of which, the pool definitely gets 5 stars. As most beaches get crowded pretty fast, we found ourselves spending a lot of time pool side. It's huge (abt. 5x10 m) and deep enough to swim and plunge in. If you are looking for sandy beaches, you will need to do a little bit of google maps homework. Many of the coastal areas are rocky with sporadic beaches which in August (the time we visited) resembled more a fish market than a beach holiday. There are stretches of sandy beaches just pass Torre Canne Sud or if you are willing to drive a bit further, on the other side just north of Tarrant. On non-windy days when the surf doesn't churn up the water too much, it's just amazingly blue and clear. What can be improved? The wireless connection was atrocious. Rural Italy is infamous for having internet connection from the middle ages but even this was a first for us. If you are looking for some digital detox, this will definitely help your cause. Also, the kitchen pots and pans have seen better days. All in all, we had a really pleasant holiday. Many thanks to David (owner) and Alesandro.
