Perched right on the waters of Galveston's West Beach, you'll be a little over 12 miles from the attractions at Moody Gardens and just under three miles from the beachfront fun at Galveston Island State Park. You'll also have access to a nearby community pool for an additional fee.
Watch the morning sun shimmer on the rolling waters from your balcony before heading out for a day of kayaking of deep sea fishing. The private washer/dryer will keep the laundry at bay while you surf the cable channels or connect to the free WiFi and stream something on your personal device. Warm up with a fire in the fireplace, or head over to the off-site pool and dive into a good book. Pictures are misleading! Property exterior is dated. Chairs are old, bay porch has lifted wood which is a safety hazard.
Interior has several problems such as sugar ants, broken outlets, lights not working, one tv, not 2, etc.
Dirty and property manager rude!

When we arrived, the key was not in the lockbox. Once finally inside, there were ants in the kitchen, a strong odor coming from somewhere, splashes of who knows what on the walls. A broken chair by the dock (the only chair by the dock) and a washing machine not hooked up to water. All of these things were reported to vacasa (the property manager) who was responsive but they are not local and the local staff never reached out to rectify any issues. In going back to read other reviews, it is easy to see a pattern of issues that are not resolved until the next guest. The property manager is not proactively taking care of the property prior to an arrival and puts it on the guest to discover and report it. It's an inhospitable way to run a rental business.
Besides these issues, as noted in other reviews, the kitchen offerings are more of what was left at a garage sale. 3 bowls, a smattering of plates, no wine glasses and just odds and ends of everything else. The paper towels and toilet paper are the thinnest you will find.
There are two decks - the front one faces the wonderful views of the bay and is so old you best watch your footing. In addition, between the two decks there are 5 chairs. 2 on the bay deck, 3 on the canal deck (but yet there is a table for 4 on the canal deck). We found ourselves walking a chair through the house at various times of day.
This could be a great house but it feels like they don't care about your experience.

Rented this property the week before Easter to avoid the holiday crowds. What a great choice of location and house. Very inviting and cosy, great views, quiet and peaceful. The a/c was not working when we checked in, so only 4 stars. Took 4 hours before it was repaired and it was a warm day. The house could use an outside repaint but the interior was very nice, we loved the decor. We would rent this house again.

This house was exactly what we needed for a relaxing few days. The house is located right across the street from the bay side of the state park, which provided endless hours of bird watching and even crabbing from the docks. Conveniently, there are a bunch of restaurants and a friendly coffee shop at the entrance of the neighborhood. We ordered pizza from Way West Grill and Pizzeria a couple of times because their pies are pretty amazing. We were less than 3 minutes to the beach, which was very clean and not crowded at all. The house itself is large enough and comfortable for 2 small families as the bedrooms are on opposite sides. We enjoyed fishing and crabbing in the canal when we weren’t out and about. The neighborhood itself is very quiet and was the perfect mixture of the bay and ocean in one. We will definitely come back for additional stays.

My sister, 5 year old son, and I stayed for a week and we loved it. We had a few storms blow through and it was fun to watch them through the big windows. And, while it was wonderful to hear her teaching him how to play some of the many board and card games on hand at Taylor's Perch while I prepared meals in the lovely kitchen , we did want to be fishing. Eventhough the temperature was high outside the ac kept us nice and cool inside and there was always a place to find the breeze outside on the front or back deck or under the house or on the boat dock. We fished in the canal and across the street in the bay and had lots of fun watching the big fish and little fish check out our lines, but none took our bait... this time.
We will be back.
Just as pictured and even better in person. Don't hesitate, book Taylor's Perch now. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a murphy bed not in the main living room.

We stayed a few days and got to enjoy day at the beach nearby, fishing and crabbing from the canal side and the bay side. Nicely updated home. Exterior could use some maintenance but it is just aesthetics and did not affect our experience. Kitchen could use some dish soap (only had dishwasher pods) because some items don’t fit in the dishwasher. Overall very nice stay for our family of 5.

Bring your own coffee filters, paper towels, and no tv in bedroom
House was lovely, very comfortable beds, clean, but as many mentioned before, there are no paper towels in the kitchen and only two hand towels provided for the week, no coffee filters for the coffee machine, and no TV in the king bedroom though pictures show one.
