Very nice and helpful hosts that give you all the information you need about Rio. Especially good for people who are visiting Rio for the first time. Great breakfast and beautiful garden!

Most highly recommend this welcoming and homey bed and breakfast to all explorers of Rio.

The breakfast was phenomenal and kept us satisfied all day. Our hosts were delightful and extremely helpful always giving recommendations and advice. The location is refreshing and peaceful after a day of exploration. There is a lot of typical vegetation and the pets, including the tortoise are always entertaining.

Unique, friendly, and beautiful serene spot to stay for a great price (including yummy breakfast)!

Its a gorgeous unique spot. Lush and with eclectic animals around. Clean comfy rooms and responsive personalized service including recommendations. Friendly hosts and excellent generous breakfast. Incredible value. located up a hill from a centrally located neighborhood.

A little tropical paradise in the heart of Rio

Rob and Richard were very welcoming and helpful throughout the stay. Breakfast was delicious- fresh juice, fruit and hot options each morning. The location was very central to the majority of the main attractions and in a saw and quiet neighbourhood.

Lovely. Thank you Rob and Richard.

The first time I stepped in the gate, I knew I was in the right place.The neighborhood, the street, the garden all made me so relax. Then I met the owner Rob, he was so nice, warm, friendly and helpful, just like a brother next door. He introduced his family members to me. A black cat,a white dog and two turtles. I felt immediately I arrived home. My room was comfy, I had my own bath room and my own sitting room and mini bar. Everything Rob offered to me is more then I expected. Next morning I had a excellent breakfast in the dinning room. Richard served the breakfast. He was also very nice.just like Rob. From dinning room balcony, I can see the whole garden and the mountain view. It's beautiful environment surrounding me. Rob gave me a lot of tour tips. It's very useful. Thank you Rob. If there are six stars, I will give this B and B Hotel six stars.

Awesome Experience in Río.

Absolutely everything, Robin and Richard are the Best host i have ever had. We spent new year celebration and Robin took the time to take US to all guest to the beach and provided the metro ticket at an afforable rate. They explain everything You need to know about Rio de Janeiro. Where to go where to eat. Etc. 100 percent recomended for our first time in Rio. The breakfast is amazing...they personally prepare the breakfast and take it to You...that never happends in a bed and breakfast...You have a complete meal to start your day with energy. They clean your room daily...and chance the sheets and towels....5 stars service in all details.

Exceptional

I enjoyed my stay very much. I stayed for one week and everything was perfect. The place was amazing and the breakfast very tasty with fresh local frood. Rob and Richard were very helpful, I was travelling alone and they supported me on everything i needed. After i left i forgot smth in the room, and they even helped me getting it back. After one week it felt already like home. If i come back this will be my choice again :).

Made our experience much better than expected!!

The best bed and breakfast!! Amazing breakfast with fruits from the garden. The garden was even nicer than in the pictures. Waking up to animal sounds and the lush garden was fantastic!! The best thing about the whole place is Rob and Richard who are always cheerful, helpful and have lots of good tips that made our stay even better than expected!

The breakfast is wonderful. Each day the hosts create a different choice of eggs, fruits, fresh fruit juices, etc. The B&B is wonderfully done and very well managed. The neighbourhood is probably one of the safest of Rio and the hosts are full of great tips.

Excellent place to connect with the real Brazilian environment

The atmosphere was excellent, you have a direct connection with nature and from there you can see the main attractions of Río de Janeiro.

The house is not that close to a public transport station, you have to walk or ask for Uber, but it is manageable.

highly recommended for Rio visit

After a winding road up into the hills behind Botafogo, O Veleiro is a mini home from home. The location is great, nice and quiet, Rob and the team are super friendly, Luna the pup is the cherry on top.

Really nice stay and great place to end a stay in lovely Rio

Beautiful accommodation and welcoming staff! Delicious and varied breakfasts each morning. It was also nice chatting with other guests at breakfast. Also they have the most beautiful and friendly resident cat and dog!

Lovely helpful owners. This was like a little paradise in the middle of Rio with clean accommodation and sheets and towels that were changed regularly. In a part of Rio you would never see by staying in the touristy parts. We had to catch an early flight and we’re provided with a take away breakfast which we thought was a very kind gesture

Beautiful and calm Bed and Breakfast

We spend a very good week in Rio in Rob's beautiful bed and breakfast Rob is kind and was always available for our ( too many ) questions He helped us with many things and explained to us how to visit the city with personalized good tips The bed and breakfast is located in a very calm steet and secure neighbourhood so we felt very very safe and could park our car with no worry in the guarded steet. And the breakfast was very generous with many option including local tapioca crêpes

Perfect place

Perfect stay. Very clean (spotless) and cute. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast ( something new every morning). Some other perks : safe location, built in outlet converters ( I am from US), laundry service available, hair dryer, minibar, cute/friendly dog and cat roaming around. This place is so lovely and simply perfect. Probably one of my best accomodations.

Disappointed, should be MAX 20 euro per night (not 100 euro)

Friendly staff are ready to help with almost everything and explain/arrange whatever you need.

Small nasty smell room (all clothes are still smelling), view on the old wall, not enough light, wi-fi doesn't work normally inside the room. It is impossible to stay inside for a long time, and even more - to sleep. So paid for another hotel and slept there for 1 night to mix.

Amazing!

We really liked the quite neighborhood so close to the biggest highlights of the city. It was really a nice place to ‘come home to’ and relax in the hammocks. Next to that Rob and Richard are such a great hosts. As being a guide Rob told us a lot about the city and even took us on a tour to beautiful beaches. Before booking we thought the place might be quite an uphill walk, but with the convenient short cut and the Uber services it was easy to get there.

Would like to come and stay again

Owners, breakfast, gardening and beauty of the property, quiet, cheap Ubers in either direction (Centro or to beach areas south) or can walk down hill in 10 minutes, dog was friendly but doesn't jump all over guest and demand attention.

Very good Bed & Breakfast place in Rio !

Rob and Richard are very good host. They have plenty of recommendations about Rio! The breakfast is good and on top in a good company (a very cute cat!) The room was cleaned everyday. The bed was very comfortable !

The B&B is pretty high in Botafogo area and lots of plane are passing by and that’s terribly loud from early in the morning to late at night. The house is very nice but insonorisation does not exist between the room as well as with the outside.

its really great place to stay in Rio

Great place for whom searching for inspiration, nature, welcome and friendly staff. And it really close to Copacabana beach, cafes, restaurants and even farmers market. We're really enjoyed these four days in O Veleiro with interesting conversations and tasty breakfasts in the lovely place. And this place made with attention to the details and so stylish with Brazil traditions. Lovely place!Highly recommend

Excellent rooms, very clean. Beautiful furnishing. Excellent breakfast. I stayed much longer than I originally planned.

The location is extremely peaceful for Rio. However, it is a 10 minute walk for food.

Excellent place to stay to fully experience all Rio de Janeiro has to offer

I really liked the safe and serene location of this airbnb. It really feels like you are almost in the forest in Brazil. There are monkeys in the trees surrounding the airbnb and a turtle traveling around the premises so you feel close to nature. In addition they have a very cute cat that says hello to you. The location is also historic as the first airbnb in Rio de Janeiro. The hosts are very knowledgeable and are experts at helping you to put together an itinerary as they are also registered tour guides. The breakfast that they offer is wonderful and they were very helpful in accommodating my request for vegan breakfasts as I am a vegan. Overall excellent place to stay in Rio de Janeiro and really adds a lot to the experience of discovering Brazil and Rio de Janeiro.

Perfect base to explore Rio

We had an amazing time at O Veleiro and definitely recommend it. The B&B is located in the hills above Botofogo, which allows you to quickly reach all the areas of Rio. The neighborhood feels very safe, quiet and residential. Easy to walk down to Botofogo or to catch Ubers to other areas and sites. The room itself was very comfortable and clean, with a nice hot shower and good bed and pillows. Great breakfast each morning. After a day of exploring Rio it was great to come back home and relax in the hammocks, enjoying the mature trees and jungle-paradise feel of the property. We especially loved the friendly tortoise that liked to come over to visit!! You’re in great hands with your hosts and O Veleiro!
