The staff was incredibly welcome, friendly and always willing to help. Special shout out to Jay who was super nice, very attentive and helped us practise our Spanish by talking slow to us. The location of the hotel in the jungle is breathtaking and secluded. There where many animals to see like birds, frogs and lizards. The food was absolutely delicious and everything was very clean. We can 100% recommend going here!

From the moment you step in Tifakara, you feel the warm welcome from the staff and the beautiful atmosphere they create. This boutique hotel is located in La Fortuna area, close enough to the small center but still secluded enough to be private, with amazing views of the Arenal Volcano. We were in our Honeymoon, so we asked for a more private room and we got to experience a beautiful little cottage a bit far from the reception area, which was a delight. Room is small, but enough for a couple. The shower is designed to be semi-outdoor, so you can enjoy long baths surrounded by the forest. Bed is very comfortable and the nature sounds at night really make you feel like you are on a luxury camping experience.
Even though the hotel is stunning, our experience was made even better because of the attentive staff. They make sure you always feel welcomed, without being too pushy. They all have a smile on their faces and you can feel the happy environment. We were also lucky enough to spot a sloth that was sleeping on a tree during our stay and the staff also makes sure you can spot different animals during your time there. The included breakfast was also delicious, there are various options so it doesn't get repetitive even in a long stay. Products are fresh, plating is set beautifully and it was one of the highlights of our trip.
This was undeniably one of the best hotels we've ever stayed and I recommend it to anyone.

The breakfast here is exceptional! Loved the frog tour so so much. The staff was so friendly & helpful. They had a tour desk which was very convenient. 10/10 recommend. I would definitely return again the next time I'm in La Fortuna.

The staff was great. Very attentive and kind. Food was good at Basque as well. Josue gave a great night hike tour.
The newly renovated rooms looked amazing. The old rooms were not. Do not stay in rooms 3-4 or 7-10. they all need updated as soon as possible.

The staff is beyond all expectations!! Josue (supervisor) was at our service at all times. The nicest service I have ever received at any Hotel in the world that I have traveled. When we arrived John (front desk) greeted us and we mentioned we had a warning sign came on our car. He immediately took our car information and called enterprise and spent two hours on the phone and had them come check our car for us the next morning.  The staff and service was impeccable. The grounds of the hotel was absolutely beautiful. We booked a room number six online and we had an incredible view of the volcano and the pool area. They booked really fun excursions for us. The night tour of the nocturnal animals was a very nice surprise. It was part of the hotel with no charge and learn so much and got to see all different kinds of frogs and critters. I highly recommend the tour. The restaurant was the best restaurant in town. The breakfast that was included was a wonderful full menu. If I can give them 10 stars, I would!!!!! We would we will be back. Steven the waiter was so kind and was right there at our service at all times. Josue the supervisor checked in to always make sure we were happy and everything was exceptional. .

From the moment you first walk into the Tifakara Hotel lounge, you begin to experience the highest quality in customer service offered by this charming, unique hotel, which just happens to be home to hundreds of birds and trees. My friend and I were early for check in; however, Allan, the receptionist during the morning shift, offered to store our bags, prior to welcoming us to use the pool as well as the restaurant. We headed to the pool and shortly after Allan came to tell us our room was ready. We stayed in the balcony room with views of the volcano and beautiful greenery from where we were able to watch all species of birds fly by us as if no one was actually there. Amazing!
In the morning, as we entered the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by Dylan, the most charming and service oriented waiter I have encountered in a long time. The lady behind the counter greeted us and kindly introduced us to the choices we could make regarding fruit juice, coffee and delicious pastry.
This hotel is for couples, families, people that are looking for a bird watching heaven that offers a night tour through a magical garden filled with frogs and a few snakes. Why not? Moreover, if you are looking to hit the Fortuna Waterfall early, this is the place to choose.
Yes, beautiful infrastructure to say the least; nonetheless, to me the finest customer service there is. Enjoy your stay fellow travelers. Before I forget, last but not least; the girl that cleaned our room found clothes I had carelessly left behind. She immediately packed it for me in a small bag and made sure she gave it to me before I left the hotel. Sweet? Yes!

Tifakara is an incredibly beautiful property with the most welcoming, kind staff. The included breakfast was delicious and the room was cozy and comfortable. Loved hanging out by the pool and being able to easily walk to La Fortuna waterfall. The staff were so sweet and accommodating with our 10 month old baby. They had a crib and high chair ready for him!
Room was definitely small for a family but we made it work! You do need a car to get around.

We LOVED our stay at Tifakara and wished we could have stayed longer. It was a beautiful setting and the staff were incredibly helpful, kind, and ready with suggestions for amazing places to go (we learned about a restaurant we loved and an amazing hike). The night walk was so worth it to see frogs and other animals that are usually hiding, and during the daytime, some of the birds we saw just around the property rivaled some of the official birding tours we did! The breakfasts were also thorough, filling, and delicious, and there were very good vegetarian and gluten-free options. Would love to go back to Tifakara!

Loved the quiet setting, falling asleep to the sound of crickets and frog and waking up to the sound of birds. The frog tour was absolutely spectacular, we saw soany red-eyed tree frogs and even a snake. So cool.
Maybe a mosquito net would be a good idea as the front door doesn't have mesh door and also the outdoor shower allows quite a few bugs in.

Tifakara was an absolute paradise!!! All of the staff were so friendly and accommodating, despite our Spanish being embarrassingly bad. The made-to-order breakfast was exceptional and we loved the night frog walks (we went every night). The facilities were amazing, particularly the pool and hot tubs. The whole property feels like a magical oasis in the rainforest. We already want to go back!!!!
I have no major complaints, this was probably the best hotel I have ever stayed at (not just in Costa Rica, but anywhere).

Included breakfast was excellent, especially given the self-serve espresso machines which produced excellent coffee. Staff were friendly and super helpful and can arrange to book any manner of tours on-site. Included jungle night walk was a fun and informative family experience allowing us to view many colourful frogs. Our room was a detached unit which seemed a little less modern than the cool-looking pods pictured on the booking site but it had a shower with an open-roof exposed to the jungle. Very nice. Pool was refreshingly cool and the hot tub and pool-side drink service was excellent. I felt like I was at the kind of place you might see in a Bond film.
Had kind of hoped I'd be in one of those cool-looking modern pods pictured on the booking site but not all of the rooms are like that.
