About this villa rental
This luxury villa built in 2008 is ideal all year for the retired, families on maternity/paternity leave and as a holiday home for one or two families with children. The villa has three bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs. It enjoys the sea breeze of summer, but air co/heating is fitted. A high quality Keller kitchen is fully equipped. The living room has a fire place, two sofas and a dinner table for 12. The furniture is contemporary Scandinavian. Two bathrooms are upstairs and one downstairs. Wireless internet is included.
Outside is a spacious wooden deck and a 10x5 m overflowing pool with underwater lights. Great sea views from second floor. The villa has a beautiful garden and there is no traffic noise.
Three great beaches are a ten minutes walk away, and it is a short drive (or 25 min walk) to the square of Ferragudo village. Several restaurants and mini-market are within short walking distance, Gramacho and Pinta golf courses a short drive away.
Things to see and do with a car: The Slide&Splash water park is a 15 minute drive away from the house. Go ten minutes further and you will find Aqualand and Zoomarine, which has a fantastic dolphin show. Silves, Monchique and Sagres are great places to visit. Silves is dominated by Silves castle, a thrill for children! Monchique is known for the spa that is at least 2000 years old. Sagres marks the South-Western tip of Europe. The Romans called it 'the end of the world where the waters of the ocean boil at sunset'.
The boat tours that leave from the quai of Portimao or from Carvoeiro explore the caves and coast of the area. Some offer dolphin watching, deep sea fishing etc. Chldren will love the pirate ship trip!
Fans of motor-racing will enjoy the Formula 1 test circuit in Portimao. Quieter, but no less interesting are the megalith tombstones including the neolithic chamber tomb in Alcalar, close to Portimao.
Lagoa is one of the main wine producing areas of the Algarve. Wine tasting daily at Adega.

Ferragudo is an unusually pleasant village and you easily spend a lazy afternoon at a cafe table in the village square Praça Rainha Dona Leonor. Every second Sunday of the month there is a flea market in the village.
Praia Grande is said to have dinosaur footprints at its South end, but we haven't found them. Sao Joao de Arade is a picturesque castle right on the beach on the North side. Some say it looks like a sand castle, and we don't disagree. There is a footpath from Ferragudo through Praia Grande to the next beaches, Praia do Molhe and Praia do Pintadinho next to the lighthouse at Ponta do Altar. Take a stroll to the lighthouse one evening to watch the sunset! Next to the lighthouse is a natural pit from which you can hear, and partly see the sea far below. It is amazing and slightly scary.
The foot-path continues to Praia dos Caneiros and further to Carvoeiro via the recently restaured medieval watchtower.

Casa Kardemomme is an impressive villa with a fabulous pool that our children spent most of their time in! The villa itself is spacious and very well equipped. Front and rear seating/outdoor dining areas were lovely and the air conditioning kept the villa cool on very hot days. Ferragudo is a 25 minute walk away or a short Uber ride (which are very easy to get) and there are two beautiful beaches close by (about a ten minute walk) both with beach bars. We had a lovely time and would recommend the villa and area for a family holiday.

Fantastic property, larger than we expected. Large pool and a great location 10-15 walk to local beaches. Lovely locale, relaxed and was not over-developed. The host, Haakon, was very helpful and we would not hesitate to recommend this villa to others.

We had a great stay in this big comfortable house. There is lots of Space. The kitchen has everything and the Pool area is amazing. The opportunity with the bikes is awesome, too.

This is a lovely property which is very well located in a quiet neighborhood, centrally located for provisions, for beach access, for hiking, and for touring by car. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Portugal and our stay here. The kitchen is large and well equipped and there are
plenty of bed linens and towels.

We had a great and relaxing time in Ferragudo. The property is well equipped even for 10 people and offers space enough. House was clean and special highlight is the great and easy communication with Haakon. We will definitely come back if we choose to go back to Ferragudo.

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful villa. It was ideally located and beautifully landscaped. Once we figured out the navigation system on our rental we able to get around and see the country. The villa was beautiful an very spacious. We cooked supper most nights and again once we figured out the appliances all went well. We weren`t able to use the pool as the weather wasn`t warm enough, but we did sit outside above the pool and enjoyed the evenings. Laundry facilities were great and we enjoyed being able to hang clothes out to dry on the warmer days. We were a short drive away from many shopping areas and tourist areas. We walked to the light house daily and checked out the hiking trails. Dining out was also a wonderful experience. There was always plenty of food at reasonable prices. Our favorite experience was going for coffee and fresh baking and just relaxing and listening to people visiting, without a telephone or computer and actually talking to one another. All in all I would recommend this lovely villa and Portugal as a go to vacation spot

We throughly enjoyed our stay here. The house was bigger than we thought and the neighborhood is very fancy. I was the hero dad when the kids saw the house:) it’s a good location as well just make sure you rent a car so you can see everything.

This was our first family holiday in a villa (5 adults and 3 children) and it won't be our last.
Our first impression on arrival at Casa Kardemomme was "WOW" and it didn't disappoint when we entered the property. It is a beautiful spacious villa with a fabulous pool, plenty of sunbeds and inflatables - which the children loved. It was also nice to have the use of the bikes at the property.
We enjoyed using the breakfast terrace overlooking the well kept front garden - it was a lovely way to start off the day as the sun came through. The kitchen was fully equipped and had everything you would need for a self-catering holiday.
We visited 3 of the local beaches and took the opportunity to go paddleboarding too. We visited a number of restaurants both close to the villa and in the square in Ferragudo. We especially enjoyed the Piano Garden (Indian/Italian) which was a short walk away from the villa. We also found a small supermarket (for essentials such as milk, break, cheese, frozen food, etc) 5 minutes from the villa and located in the grounds of Clube de Campismo de Lisboa - Parque de Ferragudo. (just across from the sign for the restaurant Gosto (which was closed). We did the big shop at Lidl in Parchal using Uber.
The owner of the villa, Haakon, was a pleasure to deal with right from the start and was always helpful and responded promptly to any requests or issues which arose.
We absolutely loved this villa and would highly recommend it for a lovely relaxing holiday. We would certainly stay here again.

The villa is set in wonderful grounds and with a south facing pool and decking area which was well used by all. Plenty of space for our 3 generational group of 10 and extremely well equipped throughout the house.
The villa is in a quiet residential area within walking distance of a number of beaches which were never crowded even though it was August. Great walking across the cliff top paths to the lighthouse for sunset and also between the beaches at low tide. El Molhe became our favourite. We went most mornings returning to the villa for the afternoon. Steep steps down and back up but we managed it even with a buggy. Lovely restaurant there too serving fresh fish and great cocktails. It was well used! The walk into Ferrugudo was easy to find and enjoyed by all.
Communication with Haakon the host was prompt and efficient. All in all a great location for a family get together and we would recommend the villa without reservation.

We had a great time at Haakon’s villla with my parents, brother and partner and my family of 4. Short walk to some lovely beaches and 30 minute stroll to the centre of Ferragudo. Would thoroughly recommend the villa and location.

Stay in Ferragudo
This is a great house and lovely place to stay. The house has all amenities and good stocked kitchen. It has a great f SF iced pool which we all loved swimming in and a nice place to relax too. The house is literally 10ms from a lovely little beach from where you can walk across the headland to several other nice beaches. Ferragudo is a small little village but with lots of nice restaurants and charming cobbled streets, much nicer than Carvoeiro, although also much quieter. Lots to recommend this stay.

Spacious Holiday Villa.
We had a lovely relaxing time stay here. There was plenty of room for me , my wife and our grown up daughters.
It’s only a short walk to the beach , however we spent many days sitting by the lovely pool.
It’s a please 25 minute walk to the lovely town of Ferragudo.
I would definitely visit this property again.

Comfortable Villa with Fab Pool near Restaurants and Beaches
We stayed at Casa Kardemomme as a group of 3 couples looking for a relaxing break within easy reach of restaurants, beach and with a pool. This villa suited us perfectly. The pool is lovely and the house has plenty of room and could easily have accommodated a larger group. It is well supplied with utensils for self-catering and we particularly appreciated the availability of some ingredients/condiments so that not everything had to be bought. The villa is located about a mile from Ferragudo which was great for eating out, and within easy walking distance of some lovely beaches. Ferragudo is less built up than nearby Portimao. It was also situated within an hours drive from lots of daytrips - Silves (Castle town), Sagres (most South westerly point), Alvor (wetlands lagoon), Carvoeiro (rock formations), and Lagos (port) were the ones we explored and were all interesting.
Communication with the owner Haakon was quick and efficient, always helpful and accommodating to our requests, and a real pleasure to deal with.
We would definitely recommend this villa to family's or groups.

We are definitely coming back!
This s the second time we have rented Casa Kardemomme, and we love it! The house is beautiful with lots of room. Spacious kitchen with all the equipment needed to cook at home. Walking distance to a few different beaches and restaurants. The owner is easy to get in touch with, and is quick to respond if there is any questions.
The pool is amazing, and we loved to hang out around the pool area.
Highly recommend this place, we are definitely coming back.

Zwembad is goed maar helaas niet verwarmd.
Het huis is niet zo schoon en simpel ingericht.
Slaapkamers en bedden zijn eenvoudig,
Badkamers ook.
Tijdens ons verblijf is er op een avond terwijl we uit eten waren ingebroken. (het huis is inbraak gevoelig), er is geen hek rondom het huis, dus iedereen kan rond het huis lopen, het alarm stond aan maar het probleem is dat de politie van een ander dorp moet komen en daar 20 minuten over doet.
Volgens de politie is het een groot probleem in die wijk. toen wij terug kwamen van ons etentje lag heel de kamer vol glas omdat de 2 dubbele tuindeuren waren ingeslagen. het was zodoende niet veilig meer om daar te overnachten, dus moesten wij met kleine kinderen erbij alles inpakken en naar een hotel verhuizen. al met al heeft het ons veel geld gekost omdat er veel was gestolen, paspoorten, laptops en vele andere luxe voorwerpen, en dan niet te vergeten wat een impact dat op ons en de kleine kinderen heeft gehad (en nog). Helaas heeft de eigenaar niet thuis en vergoed niet de nacht dat we in een hotel moesten slapen en alle onkosten voor paspoorten etc die we hebben gehad en waar onze verzekering niet voor heeft betaald, zelfs de borg kregen we pas een half jaar later terug. Boek dit huis NIET>

Amazing Villa.... Will definitely be back
We knew we had booked a nice villa going by the photos and comments on the website. But nothing can prepare you for what it is actually like when you get there. If anything the photos and write up undersell this gem of a holiday destination. There are plenty of beautiful beaches nearby and attractions for kids and adults alike but the villa is so nice sometimes it was hard to leave it for the day!
The pool is very big and has plenty of room around it to lounge without being on to of each other. There were 5 adults and 4 kids and there was enough room for more easily. The villa is lovely inside and very spacious with everything you would want to be there. Many times I've been to a villa and you go for something you would have back home and it's not there so you make do or go to the shops. But not here, everything you could want for a relaxing, easy holiday is there. The kids loved it as did the adults. Can't recommend this place highly enough and can't wait to head back there.

Fabulous Villa
What lovely villa, fantastic pool and sunbathing area. The villa comes with everything you need for a great vacation. Some great local beaches within walking distance and some really good local restaurants. The nearby village\town (about 15 minute walk)is very pretty and a has a lovely square full of good value restaurants and great for people watching. I would recommend the villa to anyone.

Fantastisk opphold
Casa Kardemomme er virkelig fantastisk. Huset overgikk alle forventinger - rent, ryddig, vakkert basseng- og hageområde, med alle tenkelige fasiliteter. Her har barn og voksne i alle aldre (11-75 år) kost seg masse. Håkon har vært veldig ryddig i hele prosessen: fulgt opp og passet på slik at vi har fått all nødvendig informasjon. Veldig bra.
Anbefaler alle å leie Casa Kardemomme - det ligger også helt nydelig til i en vakker landsby. Flotte turområder, vakre strender og hyggelige restauranter i nærheten. Vi leide bil, og det var veldig praktisk både i forhold til å komme seg til og fra flyplass, og også for å se litt av Algarvekysten

Our paradise....
We have found our vacation-paradise in Ferragudo. We have rented Casa Kardemomme for four years now and can`t think about a better place to be spending our holiday.
The property is very beautiful and clean. Our children loves the pool and the beaches in the area is also very nice.
Haakon, the owner, is friendly and reliable. If any little problem accurs we always can trust in Haakon.
Algarve offers many activites. Zoo Marine and Slide & Splash has been favorites that we always returns to.
We have only good things to say about Casa Kardemomme and neighborhood and looking forward our next stay in Casa Kardemomme:)

Our paradise...
We have found our vacation-paradise in Portugal. For four years we have been spending our summervacation in Casa Kardemomme. We have only good things to say about the property and location. Haakon, the owner, is very friendly and reliable.
Our children loves Casa Kardemomme and the activites in the Algarve-area. Zoo Marine and Slide & Splash are places we visit every year. The beaches nearby Casa Kardemomme are also very, very nice.

Great house in a fantastic area!
We stayed in this great villa for 18 days from May 11th 2013. We were 4 adults and three young children (aged 1-5). The house is very spacious and we have never stayed in a (rental) house so well equipped, and it is obvious that the owner put a lot of effort into making the guests feel welcome and happy during the stay. Among other things there are a barbeque, bikes, pool toys, tennis rackets, coffee machine etc etc. The breakfast terrace was really nice for a long and good breakfast (with sun). From about 10 in the morning the spacious pool area was in use all day, and the pool is as clean as it can possibly be! Upon arrival the owner provided us with all information we needed well in advance, and the road description with pictures we received made the trip from the airport easy. We had a rental car and could therefore easily check out nearby cities, beaches, activity parks etc. We also took day trips we can recommend to Lagos, Sagres, Tavira, Evora and Sevilla (the latter two approx 2 hour drive each way). However, we loved the beaches, the cliffs where you can have great walks or runs with the most amazing views, the pier, the lighthouse and nature in general surrounding the house. We found our favourite beach during our whole 5 weeks trip in Portugal 8-10 mins walking from the house. The Caneiros beach was superb both for adults and children, although there are some waves. If you are looking for a gourmet meal we liked the restaurant Gosto just 5 mins walk from the house. Great food and quite cheap as well. WIth children the combined italian/indian restaurant just up the road is great as the kids can run around in the gardens while you finish your meal. We spent a lot of time at the house as it was so easy to enjoy, and actually you do not need to look any further to have a great holiday with your family or friends if you, like us, prefer to stay a little bit away (still within easy reach) from the most touristy areas of the Algarve. We will definitely recommend this house to friends and family, and we hope to visit again sometime soon. Thanks to Haakon and his family for making this unique house available for rent.

Excellent stay in a beautiful house
The Casa Kardemomme is really a perfect place to stay. We were 2 families, 7 people, spending two weeks in Ferragudo. The location is very good and close to nice beaches and good golf courses, amongst many other things. The house has a very good quality, and the pool is just a gem. A very nice and well kept garden confirmed the impression of this as an excellent property. We will strongly recommend this house to families wanting a quite and relaxing place to stay when visiting the Algarve coast. The beaches are amongs the best in the region.

Great stay at Casa Kardemomme
We stayed one week in July 2012 with a group of 9 persons (including 2 children), and had a most enjoyable time here. The expectations based on the description and photos in the ad were fully met. The house is located in a settled and quiet area, within walking distance to the beaches and a few restaurants. The lovely pool area (and the rest of the property) is very well maintained.
The owner provided an excellent follow up, both before and after the rental period. Based on our experiences we can highly recommend this property to others.

Exellent stay for families
I wanted to celebrate my 60' birthday together with my wife, children and grandchildren in Portugal. We found this "Casa Kardemomme" very well suited for this purpose. We spent eight days in sunny and warm weather in june 2011. The house is spacious and functioned well for 6 adults and 3 children.The pool area was excellent and every age group had a great time there. You will need a car to get around for shopping, sightseeing etc. Beaches are in walking distance.
