Purgatory skiing minutes away. Wow what a value, a 5 bedroom home with a wood burning Fireplace and Hot Tub! It is a great place to relax after a long day of skiing, hiking or mountain biking. For a $100 fee bring your beloved dog. Pack&Play and high-chair available for younger children.
Perfect for a multi-family with 3 bedrooms upstairs and 2 downstairs. Also great for a long week of skiing or hiking with plenty of room to spread out. The attached garage, mud room and hooks for storage throughout the house make it easy to stay organized for all of your activities. Try out the snow shoes that are available for your use! Ample parking out front for three vehicles in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood just off 550, a mile and change from the entrance to Purgatory Ski resort. Only 30 minutes to downtown Durango and 20 minutes to Silverton. Lovely home, serene and super-convenient to hiking and many outdoor activities, lots of space, and comfy. This charming mountain cabin is surrounded by alluring Colorado beauty and offers a peaceful escape. You may see deer, elk, and other wildlife right out your window.

The home is Eco Friendly in that we have Solar Panels and there is a 220V outlet in the garage for EV vehicles, however you must have your own charging cord is required.

Great house, location, and property manager. There’s lots to do and see outdoors in this area. The immediate community (Lake of the Pines) is very scenic and we were fine not venturing out one of the days of our stay. I highly recommend walking or biking to the neighborhood lake.

The Pinecone Cabin was an optimal place for our ski team to stay in. Really close to Purgatory Ski Resort, but tucked away in a great location. The house was very clean and had plenty of room to stretch out. We will definitely look to stay here again if we ever come back!

We were there for a skiing vacation. The home was a good fit for our family of 9. It was in a beautiful, peaceful setting surrounded by snow. One of my favorites was the long walk we took on the maintained snow covered road that went from the house to a private snow covered lake nearby. Our 7 year old granddaughter had a private ski lesson with a great instructor and was skiing well after one hour into the 4 hour lesson.

We had an incredible stay. The house has plenty of room and was so warm and cozy. There was a record amount of snow when we stayed. We really enjoyed our “snow in” day watching DVD’s and playing games that were all provided. Owner communication was stellar. We will be back, for sure.

Wonderful place and Property Manager
This was such a wonderful place to stay. Super clean. Lots of beds. Big table for everyone to eat. The communication with the property manager, Kevin was spot on. My husband and I will definitely be contacting Kevin again to use his home in the future.

Large cabin with plenty of space to spread out. The home was clean and had a well equipped kitchen, with all items clearly marked & easy to locate. Hot tub was great and extremely clean!! Would recommend for large family get togethers. House is an older A-frame but well maintained.
Highly recommend the Nugget Mountain Bar (beer, food and atmosphere), as well as Olde Schoolhouse Cafe (pizza and drink) for nearby dining options.

Mountain Oasis
The house was great. It was well stocked and had items you would not even expect in a rental so our stay was very comfortable. It is large and comfortable. The the best part was it is in a beautiful area. A little bit out of Durango but that was only a plus. We could pop into town or enjoy our peace and quiet. Our pups each had their own front window to enjoy! Kevin was very easy to work with and very helpful. We would absolutely return. Thanks Kevin!

Cool place very close to Purgatory
Great check in experience and nice property. Enough seclusion, but close to Purgatory and other mountain activities we were after (hiking, fishing, and mountain biking). Plenty of room in the house to spread out, and very comfortable and homey. Would stay again.

Close to purgatory
7 of us stayed at this cabin, it was a great place to stay about a 5 minute drive to purgatory for snowboarding. Plenty of space for all of us with an extra room, we had a great experience with the house and our dogs loved playing out in the snow!

Winter vacation
The pictures of the house do not do it justice! The house was super clean, had everything we needed, & plenty of space for everyone! The house was well equipped with all of the comforts of home! Kevin, the owner, was informative and helpful, & only a phone call away if needed. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. There was rarely a car around, so our kids got to sled right at the house. The neighbor across the street was also very friendly and told us if we needed anything, he would be glad to help out. Great location, close to Purgatory Resort! We had an awesome time and can not wait to come back to Kevin’s home for another vacation!

Couldn't have asked for a better place
Everything was as-advertised. Location is perfect for exploring the San Juans, halfway between Silverton and Durango. The place and hot tub were clean and Kevin was responsive to questions. When we go back to Durango area again I will be sure to check with Kevin to see if the place is available to use again.

Autumn Getaway
It is a quaint cabin situated in a quiet neighborhood perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Day trips are easy between Silverton, Ouray and Durango. The owner is very responsive to any question or concerns. Highly recommend.

Great getaway
We had a great time at this house. It’s right by purgatory. There are several elevated patios which are great to have a beer, look at the stars, and watch rabbits and chipmunks.
This is a rural location. Deer came w/n 15 feet.
The little lake is 3 minute walk and beautiful.

Spectacular home and mountain experience!!
The house and location were everything we expected! Having lived in Durango in the 1970s I had previous knowledge of the areas that I wanted to experience with my family and grand children and this home fit our every need. The owner was very communicative and accommodating. We rented jeeps in Silverton and dirt roaded to Lake City one day and behind Purgatory ski area the next. Caught trout in several lakes and streams and generally have 4 grand kids completely in love with the area. We hiked to Potato lake and several other trails. We couldn't have been more pleased with the area and house.

Large house close to the slopes!
We had our annual Family Ski Trip at Purgatory, and this house was perfect for everyone! The location is so close to the mountain, and there are enough rooms for everyone. Plus the “mud room” provides plenty of space for everyone’s ski equipment. And the hot tub is a great! Highly recommend!

Fantastic Value for a Fantastic Cabin
Firstly, the house is HUGE! There were two guest rooms we didn't even use because there was so much space! The house came with all necessary amenities and the hot tub was a wonderful treat. We enjoyed a very relaxing weekend catching up with old friends.

There was enough room for 8 adults and 1 teen to enjoy ourselves! A friend saw 1 adult elk and 2 babies while on his morning run! WE would recommend this location!

Best Vacation Ever!!!
That is what the entire family continues to say! What a great home with a perfect location half way between Durango and Silverton. Close to Purgatory Ski Resort as well. Very spacious and inviting. We cannot say enough about Kevin, the owner, he was very helpful with great suggestions to make our vacation even better, extremely courteous and responsive.
We will certainly be returning to the most beautiful area in the United States!!

Family trip
My family stayed at the property for a long overdue group vacation. This house absolutely met all of our needs. The kitchen has everything you could want. The 2 downstairs bedrooms can shut off from the rest of the downstairs which was a great feature. We enjoyed using the hot tub and relaxing on the many decks. We also had a lot of people drive in for the trip so the large parking area was a huge plus! The whole family constantly mentioned what a great house it was for our group. Kevin was fantastic with answering any questions we had and checking in to see if we needed anything. We would definitely stay at the property again.
I think there are a few things that could stand to be updated or fixed- screened windows and sliding glass doors but it in no way affected our experience.

This house was the perfect size for our family group of 10. We also appreciated that the kitchen had everything we could need including extras such as paper towels. The hot tub was a big hit with our group. Most of all, the location was so beautiful.
